As long as they keep the morality systems/dialogue options from their singleplayer games, I'll probably be happy with whatever they do. That said, I'm pretty iffy about Star Wars in an MMO form. Jedi are a large part of the fun, but that fun comes from being one of the few, not one among the nameless, faceless many (for me, anyway). That just doesn't lend itself well to MMOs. Really, I think I'd like to see them make an MMO out of Jade Empire. I really loved that game. It had terrific ambience, a lot of backstory, all kinds of interesting lore, and a ton of martial arts. The only martial arts MMOs out there are Korean imports, and I just don't enjoy those at all. I'd love to see BioWare take a western spin on the genre. Maybe they could even bring John Cleese back to do some more voiceovers.
I would like to see them keep their flair with something totally original like creating the ultimate NINJA mmo.
It wouldn't even have to be Japanese...by this I mean having a warrior culture set in some fictional universe, and the offset of this culture is the Ninja aspect. The samurai's dark, unlawful shadowy figurative younger brother.
But if it were going to be Japanese and of an existing IP...I would like to see them do a version of Tenchu(the game) or Shinobi(the movie).
A mixture of Japanese and medieval fantasy could work tho if the story were original and not based on actual fact or a current IP. Guild Wars: Factions is a prime example when mixed with it's other installments ....that things of this sort can work and mesh well.
If its going to be an outside IP, it will be Dungeons and Dragons, it will be announced just after WotC launch 4th edition in April, hence the utmost secrecy from Bioware. There is still a community of around 3 million Neverwinter Nights players extremely loyal to Bioware who passed on Turbine's efforts with DDO. D&D still has the potential to become the biggest MMO if done correctly and no-one can do D&D like Bioware.
Those are my hopes anyway, failing that, I can guarantee it will NOT be Star Wars, as who the fuck in their right mind would collaborate with Lucasarts again?
You must not leave until you free Arlos and have gathered your party safely in this hallway.

I have to agree there. Letting Lucasarts have any part of an MMO means Q1 earnings Q2 failure.
Why do we keep having these ridiculous polls? Bioware said they are not using anyone else's IP anymore. So their MMO will be their OWN IP. So either Mass Effect, Jade Empire, Dragon Age, or some new one.

Yes they said it and right after announce a new Sonic game (IP owns by Sega)
Change the poll so that Baldur's Gate is on it's own like StarWars as it is not a BioWare IP, It is a D&D IP owned by Wizards of The Coast. I would like to see a Kotor MMO the most but would also really like Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Night's. However a Mass Effect or Dragon Age MMO could prove interesting.
Yeah, Lucas Arts just doesn't understand anything when it comes to gaming. They've only had 1 really awesome game to date...KotoR who incidentally was made by Bioware. They have had good games of which is giving them a boost as I really didn't think any of them were memorable, just imo...not great games. Even KotoR 2 wasn't as good as the first as it was made by another gaming co. who actually used what Bioware had done already code/structure wise.
I think if they want to continue making Star Wars games....they should stick to credible gaming houses. Also...stick to Action Rpg's, shooters...and maybe a good RTS. MMO for them has been wasted, second chance should be a big fat NO! until they get a clue.

Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight was great too man. (and the expansion)
I'd rather see them use something like dragon age, being their own creation. There's just too many ways to screw up an IP like D&D. They did a good job with the rpg's..but rpg's and MMO are a long way apart.
In these days of "themepark" wow clones that are all focused on the grind and telling you THE story about you THE man... Well, any existant IP's like Forgotten Realms, Wheel of Time, Serenity(:P) and whatnot, deserve a world, not a static themepark.
And you can bet your pants that they are building a themepark, cuz they want WoW money, and Wow money comes from teh storeh themeparks.. not from a well polished, working, hyped and advertised game
I'm going with a Mass Effect MMO. Mass Effect is planned to be a trilogy, so I forsee a single player sequel and then a MMO to finish off the storyarc.

I'm sure everyone wants "WoW money". Bioware however is deservingly so one of the best RPG game makers in the industry. I believe they would put a signature spin on the MMO world like other out of the box thinkers like the guys over at arenanet, or the guys who made Sword of The New World.
But, and this but is huge....you make no sense friend. I believe that because WoW was/is a well polished, working (which is the same as being well polished basically) that it has it's numbers. Not because you equate it to being a themepark in code(which is the first time I've ever even heard the comparison..kudos I guess). I don't think it's hyped beyond word of mouth which works on the advertised part also. Haven't seen too many commercials promoting WoW. Maybe magazine coverage and the Southpark episode that came out last season. But because they have a card game, comic books...and the game gets talked about a gaming conventions doesn't make it a household name like say Halo or supermario is. Maybe after the movie or when they start making cartoons. The only other games that I can think of beyond those 2 are Madden 0? and Sonic the friggin hedgehog. My grandma knows those 2.
Actually, I don't think there are too many household name gaming franchises. So the game may be known by folks who play MMO's. Big deal. Half of my friends don't even know what an MMO is.
And I'm from the largest city in America, population wise,(New York)..and am living in another huge city in Cali...LA.
because you cant take share from "Wow Money" because "Wow" is already eating all of it The best money making formula in the MMO indusrty right now: Bioware + Star Wars
and they are smart enough to realize that.
I'm hoping on it. But a Mass Effect MMO could work too... but damnit no more of the same old fantasy.
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.
I really like this company. They really make great games for everyone. I am glad to see them getting into the mmo market. I would really like them to make a Mass Effect mmo or even a Dragon Age mmo ( I know it is fantasy but they really do a good job with it). I used to play NWN for many many months, there just isnt alot of cons about this company.
It will not be a Star Wars MMO. They didn't make the KOTRO sequel because they didn't like working with IP owners. They didn't make the NeverWinter Nights sequal because they didn't like working with IP owners. They want to work with their own IPs.
Best guess is:
1. Jade Empire MMO
2. Mass Effect MMO
3. Dragon Age is actually released as a MMO.
So to recap it won't be a D&D franchise and it won't be a Star Wars Franchise.

Reading stuff likes this actually sizzles my brain.
Lucasarts was one of the few game developing and publishing companies that can be credited with popularizing PC gaming. They have absolute classics under their hood - stuff like Full Throttle, Grim Fandango and the Monkey Island games are timeless and Maniac Mansion, Sam and Max Hit the Road and a couple of the Indiana Jones games are top notch, too. In fact, it's nigh impossible to talk about adventure gaming history without mentioning them quite a few times.
When it comes to other genres, they may not have as strong a record, but they're not limp, either: TIE Fighter is a huge classic in the space sim genre and Dark Forces was not a bad FPS at all.
They may have lost their touch in the last 10 years or so, but they are a huge part of PC gaming history. When you go through PC gaming history era-by-era, game-by-game, you can see how they've left their mark on multiple genres. Saying they have never performed well is just cruel.
Credit where credit is due, please.
P.S.: I hope Bioware's MMO will be a Forgotten Realms one, but I'm aware that's not a very high a probability.

My guess would be Dragon Age. Perhaps they are making it a Single Player / MMO type of game.
