Nice game...

But since the game is based solely on a team and how it's near impossible to level alone, I really despise this. I bought this game thinking you don't have to level with others if you don't want to or to make money w/ enemies on your level, but I was wrong. I'll be quitting and am not getting the expansion: Chains of Promathia, which is a stupid idea anyway...especially their corny goblin fablinix.

Yep theres lots of people who play it.  But theres lots more who dont.  And I played EQ for 3 years and had a blast, Im not a loner at all,  FFXI is just way too hard to get a group at higher lvls and I dont like wasting time waiting for one.

Well said, and that's exactly why I gave up on this game. I'd like to level alone sometimes too! I need some space sometimes. I'm not saying that I JUST wanna level solo... I would be a BST or a PLD for that lol.

  • FlamingBoiFlamingBoi Member Posts: 206
u know what? i think squaresoft purpose is to have team based game. because in all the other ff, you have to have parties to fight enemies.. get it? So, if you are a solo type, you gona hate this game. But i think even if you like team, you get pissed if you can't find someone very close to your level.. lol... so, don't come complaining it sucks, many people have gave their warnings, i heeded them , i feel so good i didn't buy the game ..

Alot of this game is based in the community, which when you first start that game can be hard to find, especially if the first thing you say is "Can I have free stuff". My girlfriend and I play this game together, and we have a blast, even when we want to just go our separate ways and solo, we have a blast.

We found a Linkshell where we all get together about once every other week and hang out, maybe do some fishing and BS, but also help each other out and go to extremes to just have fun, I've played alot of MMORPGs and I have to admit, FFXI has it's share of flaws, but its by far my personal favorite, if you don't like it, dont' play, its all up to a person's taste.

Oh yea, its true, it does take forever to get places, but thats time well spent chatting with your linkshell.

I understand that FFXI is not for soloing, but I play with my g'friend, so I have a constant group of 2.  Is it feasible to play/advance with a group of 2?  Thanks.

Yea.. early on in the game up to lvl 15 depending on class. If one of you are a Whm and the othe melee then yes. But I have discovered the way to solo throught the whole game

    Beastmaster/Whitemage

Yes that will let you be able to solo and you can post here if you want to say no.

    White Mage:30 Server:Slyph
    Black Mage:15 LinkShell:PlayersClub
    Theif:2

They nerfed the BST class recently, so this may not be completely true anymore.

lol this game isnt a really good mmorpg, i love all the ff stuff in it, the auction house is great and the job system rocks, but poor communication between NA and JP players and how its almost totally group reliant after like lvl 15 , make this game kinda suck and dissapointing..nuff said

//ell //oob.......think of it this way...someone else said this in another one of the older FFXI threads but....

Maybe the game for lvling is so group depended...because.....in EVERY FF....what do you fight in...a group...your almost or never....alone or solo.......

Maybe they are trying to keep that state of mind and concept?¿image

I agree completely, I believe that they are trying to make this seem just like a FF game, basically, you play a member that can be on a team. As you form teams and make friends, your adventure unwinds. but hey, if you don't like the game, I'm not gonna argue, I personally believe its one of the best MMOs I've ever played, but I won't tell you its better than your favorite because we obviously have different taste. Good luck in whatever you do.

My girlfriend and I play as a team of two as well, whatever job she picks, I find one I enjoy, and know will compliment hers, our first jobs were (her) Warrior (me) Redmage, now we're (her)Paladin (me) Dark Knight, and we do just great with the two of us, able to take on even matches and Hards for 70-100 exp per kill.

You people dont get it at all.  Its not GROUPING thats the problem its having to be the EXACT same level + or - 1 lvl to get experience.  This limits your probability of even being ABLE to find a group.  I just saw on the the VN FFXI forums that some guy waited for a group for 6 days, 10 hours a day and didnt get one, thats 60 hours wasted.  Granted he was a THF, but still, this game is completely lame due to the simple fact that not everyone wants to waste their entire life LFG.

The game have good story and rich content. The combination of jobs makes this game fun to play.
The downside is the communication between English and Japanese players (first few months), but it's getting better since more English speaking player reach high lvl.
Finding a group isn't easy unless playing support job ( even support job sometimes hard to get Party also).
The lvling part is taking too much time and boring.

Yup, of course, considering there are hundreds of other MMORPGs and also considering there are over 6 billion people in the world ::::31::

Sorry, that sentence just made me laugh.

Final Fantasy 7 - Ruby Weapon, practially impossible to fight with full team, push over with only 1 guy

Another thing about the grouping...if your party doesnt have tank healer and mp refresh, there absolutely no reason to go out there. absolute reliance on specific classes is what really kills this game

ramadin, look at it this way. I agree completely with prior statements stating that Final Fantasy has always been group oriented. Sure there are a few times solo is easy (Ruby Weapon, yes) and also a few times where it poses a challenge (try playing Final Fantasy IV HARD TYPE with only Cecil. You lose the challenge if you get any XP to any other party member at all). All in all, I can see where you are going with this +/- 1 level to get experience thing. Also, I heard that a tarutaru Summoner/White Mage can solo decently. Of course it won't be as fast as teaming, but hey, you can't win them all.

Also, ramadin, your constant bashing of Final Fantasy XI is getting annoying. I bash on the Lineage II forums, but I have a right to do so because I technically still play.

I have been against Final Fantasy XI, but now, I think I am going to get it. Every other game out right now sucks completely (Well, SWG is decent and Dark Age of Camelot owns).

  • ramadinramadin Member Posts: 1,304

If you bash a game you still play thats hypocritical.  If you quit a game because it sucks, then you have every right to bash it.

The problem I had with FFXI is not that it is group orianted, even tho the problems do stem from there, its the sheer amount of time that you have to dedicate to gathering/finding a group.

....then hoping it stays together long enough to get some decent xp going.

Its a good game for those that have a lot of free time but is just way too time consuming for a casual gamer.

I have to say after I raced to the store (when it came out) to get it after the first 2 months I quit. I liked how it looked very little lag if any ,but if you die you lose way to much xp which pissed me off sometimes ::::21::. Besides that it did take a little long to level I think but it was mangeable. It got really annoying the fact that they didn't seperate the Asain severs and the U.S. So everytime almost I needed help I got this "Sry I don't speak English (which I found odd since they said that...)". And even after getting passed that and meeting great English speaking people the game was starting to get better you had your own house you could fish if you wanted to and I loved the auction house. After trying to spend literally about an hour trying to find an American speaking guild we tried to level up some after spending about 3-4 hours doing that I died and lost the level I got ::::16::. So in the end I decided it wasn't that worth the wait for the group and all of the other factors.

So basically you sucked.. and want to blame it on the game..

The fact that they put the Americans and Japenese together on the same servers is the best idea yet.  It helps to add a little bit of culture and interest. The Japanese players are by far on average the nicest players I have met in the game so far. Americans can be so rude and self concerned. They also know how to play the game a hell of a lot better than a lot of the Americans. It's an absolute pleasure to party with a Japanese group. Most people cheer when they get invited.

You are complaining you died... you think you won't die in other mmorpgs??

  • gaeria84gaeria84 Member Posts: 105

The game should be bashed to a pulp. "Nice" isnt a word perfectly suited for this game.
