The world needs Ebayers so people like me can sell virtual items so i can get real life money . I made 800 bucks off Ebay in 2 months worth of Diablo2 items. I worked it out, and i was making more money than i would a regular job, and best of all was i was playing video games. Ah, good times.
Playing: City of Heroes/ Dark Age of Camelot Upcoming: EverQuest II
I blew up an ebayer the other day in EVE, he was flying the biggest ship ingame and didn't have a clue about combat. And a while ago i sold my DAoC account for 950 bucks.Ebayers are great, because they usually end up getting their asses handed to them by real gamers, and they pay insane amounts of money for (my) virtual items.
I hate ebayers. Mainly, because i never get good enough to sell my items. But also because they do ruin the game. You shouldn't be able to buy yourself an amazing account or an amazing item. That ruins it for people. Each item should have a story behind it, of how you got it and where you got it. When you see a guy with a massive flaming sword, with an engraved handle and you ask "hey man, how did you get that, its real sick" and he replies "150$, ebay.com" i just type /slap. Its wrong, they ruin the RPG atmosphere.
Bringing Real life economy into imaginary worlds is wrong and kill the fun for regular players. Ask the people in LII hvor they feel about Chineese botters and I am sure you will get the same reply.
I find both people who buy and sell imaginary items incredible sad, but I would not mind them if they did not destroy the games for regular players.
Alll in all, Id say that Ebayers disgust me because they kill the games for other players. I would never dream about selling anything on Ebay. I would hate that some spoiled brat would play anything I invested time into making and ruin my rep with staying players.
oh that and the fact that I do have a REAL job, and still manage to work out on a regular basis
I did not vote, maybe you should try less biased answer options?
I never bought anything, but I have sold for a couple K$, my online gaming has actually saved my ass on 2 occasions. Not to say my online gaming wasnt the reasone for my ass needing saving, but it was nice none the less..

eBayers are fine. They do NOT affect the game in any way like you think they might.
eBayers are very much realistic in the sense of the game. Think of a pretty boy prince whose father is a King or a Baron or something. Their father buys them good gear and they go out, look good, and get their butts kicked because they don't know how to use that gear. Nothing wrong with that. Very realistic in my opinion.
I do not see why a true gamer would care about what an eBayer does. If you are truly a gamer, you are enjoying the game for the adventure, not the end of being the best with the best stuff. Sure, it is nice to enjoy that in the end, but a true game enjoys the journey getting to that point.
very true, i like that point a lot. wow, you've changed my opinion, i dont really mind eBayers either anymore. it makes sense, a rich king who buys all their son's the best of everything, but then they get their ass kicked because of their lack of knowledge on how to use it all. good call, i like that. My opinion has changed.
to me the ebayers don't really affect anything. if they want to think they're really good because they bought themselves equipment then good for them. its just a game. i think i would like them if i could actually get stuff good enough to sell on ebay to make myself some money i really enjoy playing diabloII but i never stick with a character long enough to get all the awesome gear that i could sell on ebay although i do think i am going to try and do that with this latest ladder reset, who knows... maybe i can make enough to finance the mmorpgs i want to play
Ebay is full of scammers. Did you know, you can sell a game account, steal the money, and they cant do a thing about it? IP(Intellectual Property) isn't covered in paypals refund policy. Virtual Items can't be proven to be sent or received. I can't count how many times I have seen this happen. It happened 2 times to me. Luckily it was only for DAoC plat i bought.
You can't trust ebayers. These guys wheel and deal in game accounts for a living by stealing your money and getting away clean. The problem is, its hard sometimes to find an honest ebayer.
I hate when ppl are only signing up for beta's for selling them later on ebay. U are only abusing the fact the company wants u to test their game and maybe a real fan of the game cant get the beta were they waited so long for
Ebayers rock. They make me rich. They're idiots with money, and they give it to me for pixelated items. What is any better then making alot of money while having fun.

One main reason Ebayers are bad for the industry is that when a player quits a game for what ever reason, and sells his account on ebay, the company producing the game gets no negative revenues for producing a lousy service. They just keep on getting their monthly fee from a new person.
So they think everyone is happy... when in actuallity people are quitting left and right. They need to feel it when people quit. Ebay softens that blow.

Who says the game sucked....? Maybe they just wanted money. Or after over 2 years they got bored....dohhhh

Ebay just shows how powerful MMO's are. Do a search for everquest and you'll see characters selling for 800 (they used to sell for 2 thousand a couple years ago).
Playing: City of Heroes/ Dark Age of Camelot Upcoming: EverQuest II
I will never associated willingly to ebaying in any form, yet, I honestly cant care less. If someone is ahead of me because they earn it in the game, this is cool and I respect that(except if raiding like everyone know, but that is another topic...).
If they are ahead of me because they buy it with RL money, it is just more fun to challenge or beat them! Money buy them the right to be stupid and unable to handle the power their character harness. As long as it dont get rampant and it remain a minority, it dont really affect my gameplay.
They are annoying althought when they cant understand a NO answer and get eported right away on such occasions.
If to widespread, need massive banning to reduce the number, dont care that we miss many.

I see no wrong in this. Its offer and demand at its finest. If you have enough spare money to "invest" in better gear because you have no time to get to the point of earning it yourself, thats your call. Same goes for the guy who is selling it. Ebay is pretty straight forward and there are enough ways to see if the guy will be ripping you off or there is a decent chance to get what you pay for. Thats why there is "feedback". If you buy from someone with "zero", negative or minuscule feedback then you run the risk of getting shafted.

Why? I play wwiionline and there is no way of buying or selling anything but from afar I just can not understand why would you find this disgraceful. It does not afect you at all and people should be free to do with their stuff as they please
as i kinda said didnt quite state it right my writing is really poor i dont care dont affect me is right but.Im a gamer a true gamer not many left these days they all too busy farming on eq and d2 now days so they can try ta sell their pixalated good to people dumb enough to buy them. Not to mention it should be illegal as heck to make a profit especially off of free game to play online like diablo.
Ebayers make me chuckle on a grand scale I really do feel for people that are so inept at games that they have to buy a fully loaded character or equipment or money, I mean whats the point of playing?!!?!?!? Surely you buy a game to PLAY it!
The bit that really really makes me laugh though is how much they pay for characters, I just saw a Jedi from SWG for sale for £268 and someone had bought it ROFL! , fair do's to all you guys enjoying the game then making a mint off it!

It's their or their parents hard-earned money, we have no control or the right to judge how they spend it.
I think the logic is that if you're gonna spend monthly fee on a game then why not pay some more to make it enjoyable for you? Some people see that as foolish, but people are different.

for every 'rich boy' who buys equipment and doesnt know what to do with it..
there is a good gamer, about par with you in skills/time invested who buys stuff on ebay and owns you becasue of it.
