When I played I couldn't help the feeling that something crucial was missing, an element common to MMOs that just isn't in Tabula, it felt a lot more like a console game with less direction, if that makes sense. It also reminded me of CoH to a degree and CoH eventually bored me to tears..

I don't for a second imagine this game will appeal to everyone. I also love that not everyone feels like I do about the game because the more objected views we get the better chance the game has of advancing.
I'm not sure of how the game will do long-term either. I believe that it will be very successful, but that's based on my opinion of the game. I respect those who don't think it will do very well too, everyone is entitled to their opinions.
What I don't understand in the obvious disrespect that some have for those who do enjoy the game ( not saying you or anyone directly, but I could easily list 15 direct, unjustified attacks at people who like this game, simply for liking the game )

That's a pretty strong concept to me, far too strong for anything that occurs on an internet gaming forum.
I'm not from the current generation that uses the word "hate" all the time for anything that displeases them so maybe it is my old fashioned concept of hatred that is causing me the confusion regarding your use of the word.
boi this is a krazy forum.. but im just kurious.. although i like the game, at its current state i believe that it kan be ALOT better.. I only say that b/c of all the "hype" the marketing did on all its "new game play" which it does have, I mean the cloning system is pretty good, kinda like a switching job system which i think would be easier but this is fine.
In game voice system, not new but not in many MMOs.. you'll find them in online-FPS (i.e. Quake, Halo, UT, etc...) and the rest is more or less simple, or i guess i kould say mostly in kombat... shoot 1st.. then shoot 1st some more, pretty linear but good simple shoot'em up fun.
BUT if the dev's and all the programmers KNOW they will barely break even off this product by looking at sells charts, full income - the amount spent and needed to spend to keep the servers up and a possible argument over all this internally
What does that truely hold for future development of the game and content to even kontinue this project? ...we look on the outside but does anyone look on the inside?
I guess wait and see what 30+ days does & see what happens and keep an ear to the ground and see if things go in their favor

Yeah maybe. You aren't that much older than me according to your bio, but maybe there's a major gap in there somewhere. I can assure you of something though, I hold no hard feelings toward you at all, as you do toward anyone liking this game. That respect must have only been taught to us young chaps, eh?
Well server capacity says "low" and "medium" tells us absolutly nothing from a techinal standpoint. We need to know how many players a server can hold first. Lets throw out a number and say a server can hold 10,000 players. At medium capcity that is 5,000 players playing at that time. Thats not a bad number. I played WoW very briefly and in on of the games large "citys" in a "full" server there were about as many players in the city as i saw in TR today in a "low" server in the starting main town. So like I said untill they tell us "out servers hold X players each" we will have no basis to judge the server capcity on yet.
And let me put out a bone to chew on for those that say it won't last long...I can't tell you if it will or not. Im no mmo game expert. But I have played GuildWars almost since it's launch over 2 years ago. Does it lack depth? Yes. Does it lack a lot of gameplay features? Yes. yes, GuildWars lacks a lot of things but it also has a lot of things. There are very little armour mods, weapon crafting options, and ability optuions compared to other games. That obviously didnt make it fail, it just toped 2 million sold a few weeks ago. So what did make it a success:? Well the free to play, pay your 50 bucks and you can play and play and play, it has very good graphic engine, a very indepth story, a huge amount of dev support, and a pretty good community.
So no it's not a grind fest but a huge amount of people still llove to play it. There is something about the simplicity and skill involved. It is more than just who can get the best gear. So I am not here to champion GW but I am here to say: Just because a game does not follow your typical "wow format" does not mean it is going to fail. The game may not have been designed to consume you. Maybe it dosent target the player group that would rather play a video game than go have some dinner with friends. The group that says "No man i cant go out i got a raid."

NCsoft Korea was expecting to pull 14 million dollars (US) per quarter from Tabula Rasa... At 14 mill per quarter, given a steadily expanding subscriber base (which it ain't gonna get), it would have taken two years before they ever even saw one dime of profit.

I don't know, some people on the forums are pulling the rope one way, and the others the other way (I think this game will be around for a looooong time.
The single biggest problem with taking player advice on design is this: Every player wants to play in a world where they can be at the top. So any advice you are likely to get from them is going to be a redesign of the system to put things in their own favor. Sure they may cite reasons of why one way is better than another, but really you have to be careful because human nature is always going to rear its ugly head. The ganker will have the most to gain from making the game open pvp. The casual will have the most to gain by keeping advancement fast and quests relatively short. The hardcore will have the most to gain by keeping advancement slow and quests long. And the tradeskiller will have the most to gain from a player-run market. IMO the only ones making the decisions should be the devs. They should decide who their desired audience is, and design accordingly. If that decision turns out to be a failure... than the genre moves on, lesson learned, and hopefully the mistake isn't repeated again the future. Darwin's theory of evolution applies to mmos as well, believe it or not.

Sorry, no matter how much you disliked it in beta, Tabula Rasa is not the failure to launch you were hoping it would be. Go play something else if you hate it so much. It's not like all games will "click" for all people.
It never ceases to amaze me people come on the internet and get in a fight(with text!) over why a game will fail or wont fail. Do you find fun from it or do you have nothing better in your life to do? You people would make GREAT politicians, fight over who is better and right and never really accomplish anything. Why do people feel the need to go around championing a games failure? Did the game harm you in some way that you absolutley need and want it to fail? Do we even know how many players a server can hold?
I think many base their arguements on WoW which has a rather low capacity.
For instance EQ2 servers hold way more then a WoW server .
Maybe Tabula Rasa holds even more then a EQ2 server.
Mind you I did not buy the game myself.

You know what? You may be right. The game may fail. I'm man enough to admit that I don't know everything. But I also know that I love the game and there are a ton of folks playing it right now that seem to be loving it as well. The servers are packed. Here's the thing, I don't think any less of anyone for hating the game, but it certainly seems that most of the naysayers here truly hate those of us who are loving the game. It's like it's not about the game failing or not for most of you, it's more about belittling people who don't agree with you. I don't know about where you come from, but around here that lack of respect wouldn't do you much good if you had a point to make.

That's a pretty strong concept to me, far too strong for anything that occurs on an internet gaming forum.
I'm not from the current generation that uses the word "hate" all the time for anything that displeases them so maybe it is my old fashioned concept of hatred that is causing me the confusion regarding your use of the word.
boi this is a krazy forum.. but im just kurious.. although i like the game, at its current state i believe that it kan be ALOT better.. I only say that b/c of all the "hype" the marketing did on all its "new game play" which it does have, I mean the cloning system is pretty good, kinda like a switching job system which i think would be easier but this is fine.
In game voice system, not new but not in many MMOs.. you'll find them in online-FPS (i.e. Quake, Halo, UT, etc...) and the rest is more or less simple, or i guess i kould say mostly in kombat... shoot 1st.. then shoot 1st some more, pretty linear but good simple shoot'em up fun.
BUT if the dev's and all the programmers KNOW they will barely break even off this product by looking at sells charts, full income - the amount spent and needed to spend to keep the servers up and a possible argument over all this internally
What does that truely hold for future development of the game and content to even kontinue this project? ...we look on the outside but does anyone look on the inside?
I guess wait and see what 30+ days does & see what happens and keep an ear to the ground and see if things go in their favor

Yeah maybe. You aren't that much older than me according to your bio, but maybe there's a major gap in there somewhere. I can assure you of something though, I hold no hard feelings toward you at all, as you do toward anyone liking this game. That respect must have only been taught to us young chaps, eh?
Well server capacity says "low" and "medium" tells us absolutly nothing from a techinal standpoint. We need to know how many players a server can hold first. Lets throw out a number and say a server can hold 10,000 players. At medium capcity that is 5,000 players playing at that time. Thats not a bad number. I played WoW very briefly and in on of the games large "citys" in a "full" server there were about as many players in the city as i saw in TR today in a "low" server in the starting main town. So like I said untill they tell us "out servers hold X players each" we will have no basis to judge the server capcity on yet.
And let me put out a bone to chew on for those that say it won't last long...I can't tell you if it will or not. Im no mmo game expert. But I have played GuildWars almost since it's launch over 2 years ago. Does it lack depth? Yes. Does it lack a lot of gameplay features? Yes. yes, GuildWars lacks a lot of things but it also has a lot of things. There are very little armour mods, weapon crafting options, and ability optuions compared to other games. That obviously didnt make it fail, it just toped 2 million sold a few weeks ago. So what did make it a success:? Well the free to play, pay your 50 bucks and you can play and play and play, it has very good graphic engine, a very indepth story, a huge amount of dev support, and a pretty good community.
So no it's not a grind fest but a huge amount of people still llove to play it. There is something about the simplicity and skill involved. It is more than just who can get the best gear. So I am not here to champion GW but I am here to say: Just because a game does not follow your typical "wow format" does not mean it is going to fail. The game may not have been designed to consume you. Maybe it dosent target the player group that would rather play a video game than go have some dinner with friends. The group that says "No man i cant go out i got a raid."

Sorry, no matter how much you disliked it in beta, Tabula Rasa is not the failure to launch you were hoping it would be. Go play something else if you hate it so much. It's not like all games will "click" for all people.

It never ceases to amaze me people come on the internet and get in a fight(with text!) over why a game will fail or wont fail. Do you find fun from it or do you have nothing better in your life to do? You people would make GREAT politicians, fight over who is better and right and never really accomplish anything. Why do people feel the need to go around championing a games failure? Did the game harm you in some way that you absolutley need and want it to fail? My mind is boggled why I come on these forums and it seems half of what I read is about failure?
