How much more evidence does one need?

kymekyme Member Posts: 411

It has been over 2 years since the CU was released. Still veterans speak of wanting a PRE-CU version. This is a no brainer. What more evidence does one need?

It's too late by this point Kyme... a lot of us won't be going back even if they did put pre-cu servers, and basically it's because the hate is now built too deep inside to want to forgive SOE. Many are actually waiting and hoping that Bioware will make a KOTOR:O (me too actually).

    My hatred runs deep.

  • My hatred of SOE is so deep now that I want the company to fail, and will throw a party when it does.

I would play pre-cu. I liked the game. I'm not sure what Bioware's game is going to be like, I may not like it. If I had to make a choice between something I know I liked and something I'm not sure they are even making, I'll take the sure thing.

I don't claim to be right, I'm just posting.

Sony failing... pretty sure we'll all be dead before that happens.

Why don't you want LA to fail too? They are just as, if not more so, responsible for the NGE.

Well, for me, I put in about a good years worth of play into SWG Before the CU. I don't really consider myself a vet, nor am I really mad about the changes they made to the game. I mean, I think the changes they made ARE complete donkey crap, but theres no point in getting all wound up over it. (Maybe I'm crazy. I dunno. I friggin loved SWG, it was like crack to me.) But I simply just let it go, and follow the progress of SWG-EMU.

Smed has said that if those guys can even pull it off, they can run wild with it, hes almost sanctiond it for crying out loud, and the funny thing is, he thought it could never be done, but if you go look at the SWG-EMU site, they have made HUGE progress. Their latest "Core", core 3, is proof that its NOT impossible, all it takes is a few  people  with a love for a game,  that wants to give the game back to the players that share their feeling on the game aswell.

So really, I dont get mad at SOE. I could, but whats done is done. And the truths are told. SOE just does not give a rats ass. If they did, there would have been a pre-cu server a very, very, long time ago.

If Smed has said that, and I know he's previously bitched about LA forcing them to do the NGE, then it's probably fair to assume they won't be having anything to do with LA soon.

You don't support a competetive title, an illegal one at that, unless you're not going to be around to give a crap about it. Maybe LA will take SWG in house, but LA as license holders have proven in the past to be utter bastards who don't like anyone using their license without paying them first.

  • TeknoBugTeknoBug Member UncommonPosts: 2,156

Even if NGE is LA's fault (which I think is partly true), look at SOE's other titles- they all have similar downfalls. Maybe LA and SOE both has horrible management and just happens to be a coincident.

I have been checking into the game after chap 7, and I say almost 80% of the game has changed over the 2 years, even the old "good" crafted foods/drinks has changed and are useless now while some older crappy foods are much more useful. Also the way defense works is changed again, so a full +agility suit isn't as beneficial in chap 7 as it was 2 weeks ago and now you have to redo your suit for block value or evasion or whatever crap there is.

I know other games changes things once in a while but not drastically and not constantly like SWG has over the past 3+ years now with continously revamping and rebalancing each profession over and over, and that previously valuable things are now just as valuable as junk (anti-decay kit for one).

Shh you must not speak of the game that cannot be named in that manner. But i agree about that game that cannot be named great progress being made there hopefully soon the fun can begin again.

as for SOE i will keep greifing the, they still deserve it at least until they change there ways. Which may take a while.

Its so easy  for an fresh MMO (like Tabula Rasa is) to beat a MMO that has so many weak points from gameplay point of view  like NGE does.

Don't like Tabula Rasa's approach  to  an MMO design  but  it has rightly more right to exist then SWG - NGE.  Like i said its not that difficult to design better games then NGE crap because of its helpless poorness in giving the right answers to a audience that demand a well designed , complex game with rewarding activities and with an almost friendly community. omg it is lightyears away from that LOL .

Sad thing is with SWG (the versions before the ugly CU and NGE hits the server, it had all the potential and it was in great parts  a well designed , complex MMO with  rewarding activities and with an almost  friendly community.

Good thing current NGE has no future its so damn easy to beat that crap just look at Tabula R asa.  Only the IP keeps  it from dying and with Bioware making a KOTOR game this case will ultimate solved.

i will not mention and name other people putting time into raising the better past

OMG its funny still seeing this come up again and again...But i was a vet pre nge jedi and all that and know what you mean....i just got curious about what the game looked like recently and used  the free trial.

Pretty sad to see them try putting the old  elements they thought we didnt need back in .

I tried some crafting out with my master ..hmmm not sure what kinda master crafter he is now ..lol..anyway  the point was there is no one to sell anything to anyway.

Then i respec my jedi to Ent...get bored 10 mins later and respec back to find that im level 5 jedi now....

That was the last stroke for me....really hope the EMU dont get raped by lucas..

The games getting old and i wonder if it would really fly now anyway if reborn....god im bored

Im trying out Tabula Rasa too...it looks like it will be a filler game between now and the next one but its kinda fun...  hell i replyed on this post cause i was going to say something cool ..guess i got side tracked and forgot lol...anyone know when BSG season 3 is going to come out on DVD? lol

I have not found a game yet that rivals pre-cu. How many years has it been? Most mmorpgs out and/or coming out are complete garbage.

  • Basically all MMOs designed on the WoW model are nothing more than treadmill grindfests for ever increasing level caps and ever happening planned obsolescence of good gear.

Eventually people will get tired of paying for that.

DAOC made the same mistake with the TOA expansion. Eventually they made a "Classic Server" and that instantly became the most popular. I wouldnt be suprised if they made a "Pre-NGE" ..I guess the question is how much effort anfd time will it take to make it...obviously a lot.

It has been two years since NGE.  I WOULD be suprised if they made a special server.  I wouldn't be suprised to find out that in their arrogance they deleted all pre nge files though lol.

  • SuvrocSuvroc Member Posts: 2,383

I do find it funny that the official line used to be "there will be no classic servers", and now it's "there are no plans for a classic server".

At this point I'm not expecting one but I do find this change in wording a little intriguing. It almost sounds like SOE is keeping their options open now.

Eventually they will.  Since the mechansims of MMOs will be pretty much the same, the genre will be the only real differentiation with them, and people are getting tired of elves and orcs, I think.  So the skin will be the thing, as the play will be pretty much the same.

Until someone takes a chance and finds the next big thing.

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

I know more and more people each day are getting sick of this "rehashing old ideas" and wow clones crap...

The thing is the next big thing is right in front of their faces and people are bugging them for it all over.

We need someone to revolutionize the sandbox skill tree type of mmo. It has much more potiential.

Its sad really... the devs are sitting on a gold mine and all they have to do is think outside the box.

I'd drop $300 for a life time if they followed LotRO and offered it on a classic. I don't expect it. They blew it, they know it. They will continue to find excuses to not run PreCU. They will go down as the idiots who wrecked Star Wars. That's too bad for everyone involved.

And the only way to affect WoW's numbers is not to make a better WoW (because quite frankly I don't think that can be done), but to make an alternative to WoW.

Make a game that stands apart from all the others and you will have a strong and dedicated player base, so long as you don't treat those players like the enemy.
