A lot of their gameplay has major issues as well. PVP for the longest time was pretty much pointless. Although it was more fun back before they implemented farming grounds (oh I mean Battlegrounds). So get off your high horse that WoW is the greatest MMO ever made. It is completely unoriginal. World of Warcraft has 3 things that make it successful: 1. Known developer with a huge following. 2. Release a fairly well polished game compared to the competition. 3. Massive Advertising!!!! Blizzard had tens of millions of built in fans that they advertised heavily to on Battle.net. On top of their constant advertising on TV, Magazines, books, etc. If you honestly don't think that has an effect, then this conversation is pretty pointless since you have lost touch with reality.
Taking the advertising into account - WoW still attracts a massive playerbase thanks to their great programming and hard work. I don't play WoW for other reasons, but I agree with Baff that it is far better than HGL.
Alot of people were drawn into WoW by friends who reccommended the game, because it is a good game.
PVP is pointless in WoW?! And what point does PVP serve in HGL? (assuming pvp is implemented and not bugged and people have gone through the trouble to have a duel)
The bugs in WoW are far less game-breaking than HGL's many bugs. You can't log onto HGL with some sort of bug occuring. The worst bugs were stomped in the WoW beta. I have the feeling the summon bug in HGL will be persisting for quite a while....
I dont think cabe is comparing WoWs pvp to hellgate, I think thats a DAoC to WoW compare. Which when looking at the two- WoWs PvP really does mean nothing. If i cared for numerous sets of armor that gets replaced every 3 months I sure wouldnt be going for honor crap.

Since I'm not much of a pvper I can't state one way or another about WoW or HG:L. I was playing WoW at launch and the bugs were game breaking in that you couldn't really play the game for the first month. At least until Blizzard realized they had to run maintenance on their servers. How about the long times you had to wait in queues just to get into the game to play? As far as HG:L I've rarely been booted since lauch and after the patch this week the lag is barely noticeable in stations. Plus logging out of the game is very quick now.
BTW I think WoW is a good game for awhile. But I can tell you I haven't had the fun in WoW I'm having in HG:L. I will grant there are a few problems in HG:L but for me the game is very enjoyable and can't remember when the fun meter has been this high. That's why I don't understand why people are relentlessly bashing this game. It's almost as if it's personal and they are trying their best to see the game fail. I think they should just create another forum for HG:L and call it the HG:L game bashing forum. I'm getting really tired of it because it seems that the flaming is in every thread, even ones that seem like positive threads. It makes it very hard to ignore and frankly makes this forum less enjoyable.

I honeslt didn't want to ruin anyone's fun with bashing.
It's just that HGL was such a huge, huge letdown that I can't contain my feelings about it.
The devs have already stated that Elite mode was over non subscribers as well (all you need to do is beat normal first) So only mode that isn't open is Hardcore.
I dont think this is right, not getting elite mode was the main reason I didnt decide to even try the game past beta.
Well that and the crappy skillset, boring environment, and way to easy gameplay.
They changed it right before launch, so that free players have to beat normal mode to unlock elite mode. Whereas paying subs get elite and hardcore modes to start out with. So yes, the only mode not available to free players is hardcore. Hmm, how long did you play for? The game is pretty easy the first 10 lvls of normal mode. But it starts to get pretty frickin hard, Elite mode must be tough. Hardcore mode sounds scary lol.

A perfect review...

LOLOLOLOLOLOLLLLLLLLL
I'm off guys see ya in a month or two. It takes too great a toll on my nerves to read the trolling on these forums - need to get my shields up by doing something fun for a change - like HG:L for example.
Someone doesn't know what a beta is it seems.
Yeah, and that is you. Beta is not a demo whose function is to present the game , a beta is a beta - used by the devs to weed out the bugs and test game features.
HG:L beta, for example, had waay faster xp progression and much more loot drops than retail version because the devs wanted to test as many class/level/loot combinations as fast as possible.
Saying that the game is too easy or unbalanced based solely on beta experience (i.e. during betas devs usually introduce unbalancing elements on purpose to test the core RPG system) shows absolute and total ignorance of game-development process as well as unbelievable arrogance.

Over and out.
I concur that the leveling process was sped up a lot and the difficulty turned down in late beta, as I was in it myself. I also concur they did this to help testers get through the game at a faster pace, thus finding bugs at a faster pace, cause it had a lot of them pre-launch. Also during the beta, classes were changed frequently, till right before launch, to try to find correct balance between them.
