I wonder what kind of computer we'll need to run Aion with full graphics. I can already tell that all the geforce 8800 series cards will barely make it. I'm convinced to run at maximum details you will need 4go of ram and a video card with 1go of memory. Then you have to upgrade your power supply too. Damn...
Well the minimum requirements for the current closed beta are a 2ghz cpu, 1gb ram, and GeForce FX 5600 (128mb). I personally wouldn't even want to try running it on that though. We really have no idea how demanding it will be on maximum settings yet. I think an 8800 and 2gb ram should be able to do it fine though....
You generally take the minimum requirements and push it up a generation to get the "true" playable minimum requirements. So, I would guess about a 2.4 GHz CPU, 1-2 GB RAM, and a GeForce 6800 or better.
QFT - thats pretty much it, people are really overdoing it with some of your estimates. Mostly kids(no offense) who don't have enough experience with gaming, just blurting out specs from killer rigs they see advertised :P
Okay, I've skipped every post on this thread only to say that IF you would like to REALLY enjoy this game (either on official OR private servers and believe me there will be tons of private ones... look what happened with Lineage 3 i.e. files and stuff "running" out of NC's office and yeah, tons of Lineage 2 servers), then better to start saving (or ass-licking somebody to help you "invest") for sli/crossfire DirectX10 system. Personally, I'll be buying a new comp in a month or two and planning to spend up to 2000 euros (I'm 50% down atm tho). This game and many more to come just deserve to shine in the eyes of (especially) a hardcore gamer.
A super PC im guessing ur buying. Since ur 2000 euros is 4000 here in the US (its doubled i think) then u should be fine. That system seems like it will last you a while. While i dont have enough to buy that PC i think a new graphics card and more RAM will do for me. My processor is (correct me if im wrong) the best out there with 3 ghz i think thats as high as you can go.
3Ghz is fine and dandy... but one thing to keep in mind. There are dual-core processors out there that only run at 2Ghz per core. But will beat the socks off a 3Ghz single core processor. In the computer world.. Ghz doesn't mean as much as what a lot of people think it means. There is a whole lot more to a cpu than just Ghz. An example of such is a P4 HT 2.5Ghz cpu vs an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2 Ghz processor. Which one is faster? Not the P4 HT. The P4 HT only has a 533Mhz FSB where as the Athlon 64 has a 1000Mhz FSB.
It all boils down to the CPU architecture

A euro is slightly more than a dollar :P you are thinking of pounds
Personally I hope they steer away from DX10 and just try to make a single DX9 client that looks as good as possible. The effects from DX10 are nice, but they're just not worth dealing with Vista. yeah it works fine for the most part, and I was actually trying to migrate my system over for the past month with the hellgate release and all, but the DX10 client in hellgate proved to run like hell, and then I discovered one of my games wouldn't play in Vista period, and yeah, that was enough for me. I'll miss the haze effect, but I'll enjoy my compatibility more.

the game isnt even dx10 how can you mention the 8800 ?
might come later on ( and will probably) but as far as i know itsnt
keep in mind that they are aiming for a worldide release.. wich mean taking in consideration everyones computers.. wich also means that the game will run in a 3 years computer old ( since its roufly the comon type of computer used in asia).That's the logic way for any mmorpg targeting masses.
it might even run better in a 6month computer old with xp than a actual one with vista actually

what you saying is true for now, but wont anymore in 2 years. And a mmorpg starting in 2008 is aiming to be still there in 2/3 years
while i m happy they arnt going for dx10, i still hope they ll upgrade in 1 year or so when the technologi/hardware iswell mastered.
Actually the 8800 series will do excellent. The game is developed to run well on most systems on decent settings. They're also using a very flexible and developed engine...
I hope it uses the first Crytek engine, if so, I wouldn't worry about the PC specs, just play FarCry to know what I mean... BUT if it uses the Crytek 2... well... it will definitevly make your PC (and wallet) cry...

Lol, i think you may be a bit off...the game has clean graphics but they're chinsey looking, like rf or guildwars, the characters don't have a strong backbone to them. People are assuming an 8800 is the only thing that's going to run games from here on in, that's completely wrong. The 8800 is strong but these games arn't utilizing directx 10 so even a 7600 would run this game fine with 2 gigs of ram(800mhz). 2 gigs in vista, 1 should work for balanced settings in xp. i myself have an 8600 and run nwn2 and eq2 perfect with 1 gig on vista...from what i've seen this games graphics don't compare to either of those games on max graphics.

It's Crytek 1 not 2. Rejoice!
To the poster above, graphics are very subjective I only have a 6800 for now and still expect Aion to look good with it, but EQ2 and NWN2 don't look so good on my system and I have to lower shadows to increase performance even with 2gigs of ram.

That's really strange you say that. When eq2 first came out i played it on a pent 4 2.8ghz with a geforce 6600 and 512mb RAM (pc3200) just fine on medium settings. My friend with the same rig as me except for 1gig of RAM ran it on very high settings with almost no lag. Sometimes i wonder if they're upping the requirements to games to keep in line with the current graphic technology.
You would think with all they've done with technolody and the release of new GPU's, processors and RAM that they would have caught up to a 3+ year old game by now.
To enable both HDR and AA at the same time in AION (probably) requires a 8X00-series graphics card, at least according to my testing in Far Cry.
At the moment I'm crafting a config file with Far Cry to be used with AION in order to jack up the settings as high as they'll go. Not sure how well it will work, but I know it does wonders for Far Cry's ugly mug.

Closed beta will probably require geforce 8 and 2 GB RAM,this is taking into account that the devs will not "optimize the engine" before closed beta.In retail if the devs do manage to properly optimize the graphics engine,it will probably be geforce 6 and 1 GB RAM to run on medium settings with no lag.
Im pretty sure no one can repeat vanguards mistake,devs spending the fund they were given on the world and not on the optimization of the graphics engine.Good thing SOE has somewhat optimized that engine.
lol, shows how little you know about computers... no offense.
Yes, Aion looks amazing but it doesn't beat Call of Duty 4 or Crysis, both of these games have top of the line graphics MUCH better looking than Aion yet both of these games run smooth on 6600gt's and over..
You're worrying way too much, you're prolly looking at CG Screenshots (renders) which fyi is not in-game graphics...
the Minimum and Recommended specs are already released for the Beta.
Minimum:
* Pentium 4 2.8ghz, AMD Athlon 2800
* 512 mb RAM
* GeForce 5700, Radeon 9600
Recommended:
* Pentium 4 3.0ghz, AMD Athlon 64 3000
* 1 gb RAM
* GeForce 6600, Radeon x1550
not sure if someone already posted them, just woke up couldn't be bothered reading the whole thread
I dont know much about computers all i know is what makes it run fast and how to defrag lol, but this is my system info and im just copying everything it says
Intel(R)
Pentium(R) 4 CPU, 2.40GHz
2.39GHz 768mb of Ram
and a Radeon 9500 Pro graphics card with a 9700 pro secondary card
It's really 1.5GB of ram, but - do you think that will work fine?

We are going to have to act, if we want to live in a different world.

Is it DX 9 or 10 requirements.
no DX 10 support fort Aion..its DX9 but it looks damn good!
dx10 is overrated..and u need vista..

Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts.
EAT ME MMORPG.com!
I think that's the plan, though I wouldn't be surprised if they had DX10 support too, or maybe add it later on.
