Hey, i quit playing WoW about 4 months ago or so, and im struggling to find a decent MMORPG, so i would like to know you're favourite MMO and the reason it is you're favourite so i can look through them and see which one i would be interested in.
Thanks for taking part

Depends on where my friends are a lot of the people that i played lineage 2 with went to play WoW i came to WoW a few months ago after i just got sick of the grind in L2, I loved castle seiges though having 200+ people battleing for 2 hours for control of a castle that you are going to get a lot of benifits from is cool i am having fun in WoW it just depends on where my frieds are playing i find that it is more about the people that i am playing with that makes a game fun for me. Take the grind in Lineage 2 crappy to do yourself but a group of cool people and vent makes it go by fast and it tends to be a lot of fun.
Was WoW the first MMo you played?? because i have found that people have a hard time replacing the first MMO that they played it is usually the "best" for them. I would say Lineage 2 was my all time favorite game but WoW is fun too.
Nope, the first MMO i played was Star wars galaxies but I dont miss that since NGE was released
Asherons Call hands down. Nothing has made me feel like that game did.
Hmm... I would say, it's WYD Global
That's the only game I played and the built-in macro program suits well for me being a very busy person
WurmOnline would probably be my pick since I'm always coming back to it. my homeland of a crafting focus, territory control, and Open PvP with real loss(the weak loss of skill and item, and social implications). PvP in the game also deviates from the brawn vs. brawn only strat(IE: combat only), crafting makes a huge differance people are welcome to be the swordsmen of wurm but all that is useless without them crafting and an extensive crafting network.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
I loved Anarchy Online. I know it had problems when it first started out but they came so far. If only other developers would play that game first and take note of its awesomeness.
If you are not being responded to directly, you are probably on my ignore list.
My favorites would be Lineage 2 and Ragnarok Online. I love lineage 2 because of the grind (im a grind lover so its a huge + for me), the adrenaline i feel everytime i pvp with someone, and the lore in Lineage 2. I also love Ragnarok because of the friends i played with made it more enjoyable and it was just a relaxing game to play when i wanted a break from lineage 2.

FFXI Online is still my favorite. There was too much fun to be had in this game. The community is great, my linkshell buddies were awesome, the professions are really good and the gameplay actually takes some thinking to do rather than point and click. The graphics in the game are pretty good too. Probably the most overlooked MMO.
Hmm..lets see....Vanguard because it feels like an immersive living, breathing world and the classes (the ones ive played) are all fun and interesting. The crafting is really in-depth and diplomacy is a nice side game that opens up the lore of the diff races and cities. Be advised you need a decent rig to run this game, and even then you may run into some performance problems, although they are fixing things up rather nicely.
I liked Planetside for the kick ass PVP battles...back in its hayday, PS was damn awesome having hundreds of players in one area all battling for control of a base. Some of my fondest MMO memories have come from that game, im not sure about the population now but it may be worth a try if youre into FPS shooters.
EQ2 just released its 4th expansion, so theres tons of content in that game to go through, and alot of peoples opinion its the best MMO on the market today
Ive played WOW since open beta with a couple of breaks, its a good game but not very immersive IMO, and the grind at top level gets really old, really fast (reason i have so many alts). out of all these i would say Vanguard is by far the most interesting to me at least and with the sony station access pass you can check out EQ2, VG, and Planetside for one montly fee or around $30 i believe + the cost of the individual games..anyway good luck on finding your new addiction
City of Villains/Heroes
Everything in CoV is designed to be FUN. The game caters to casuals, but a hardcore can still enjoy it a LOT up to the point he has nothing left to do...then just wish the game has more...still have a blast up to that point...then the hardcore will try other games, see they lack, and come play a new character, a new character, another character...and then see he occupied all 12 character slots with mostly maxed levels characters.
A few facts that make it at least 10 years ahead of any competitor:
- Instancing is favored, yet the city is big and expand on about 30 zones (estimation, I don't care to count them). So you have the best of both world, you can run to a mission door and do an instanced mission, or you can hunt outdoor, the CHOICE is yours.
- Travels powers. Once you hit level 14, you will know what vertical movement means and what true travel powers are...not to forget the metro/boat either.
- Logical PROGRESSION. A level 1 can take about 3 minions level 1. A level 50 can take a score of minions level 52, 2 lieutnants 52, a boss and an elite boss 52. See, you become stronger, always stronger. Not as in some other games where you always lose and try to manage a decline.
- Power customisations. Let's take a few of my characters to give you an example: Dis Co (Fire/Sonic 50)...I see maybe 1 player on 30 with the same primary power I have...I think there are about 3 other player with the same secondary power I have among the corruptors level 50...I never saw anyone with both, my primary and my secondary; no matter the level...nobody is even remotedly similar. Ymne (BS/Regen)... perhaps the most popular set and built in the game...about 1 player on 6 will be a scrapper, and about 1 scrapper on 3 will have this set(Spines, claws, dm are all quite popular, not to forget the Katana, so prolly less, but let's exagerate this for the fun of it)...which make it extremely popular. So, with the most cookie-cutter combo...about 1 character on 18 is the same "class" as me...most of these players doesn't take Parry, which I love...most doesn't take Weave, which I love....most doesn't fly, while I do...I still feel kinda unique...My other characters, I think there are between 3 and 10 characters that have the same primary and secondary as me, which mean, almost nobody is the same "class", and nobody is built in a similar way. Dia Mond for example as an Energy/Invul Brute doesn't see many like her; and again they usually don't like to take exactly the same powers I do; the other NRG/Invul brutes are designed for PvP, I am designed for PvE. Of course, many players will have either the same primary or the same secondary as I have, but they are "hybrid" of what I am, not really close.
- Sidekick. If you join the game tomorrow, if I want to group with with any of my character, and if you want to group with me, we could, and we will still have a great experience, lot of XP and fun, great challenge. Now, I don't know you, but if you where a RL friend, this option is great.
And list would go on, but...I rather just say that I envy the person who, for the first time, will discover this great game.

EvE Online for my PvP fix, well because it's eve the danger and hardcore pvp is fun to me.
For PvE I would have to say TR seen as it is pretty fun but a little repetative at times but still it is a fun and good game to play glad that the launch is going well just wish they would add official forums so the community can be heard.
I'll second that; FFXI is very good. I also like Eve Online a bunch.

I started playing EVE-online a few months ago and i love it. Its just a great game and this great game will get a completely new Graphics engine ( called Trinity 2) within the next Year.
After burning out on fantasy games between WOW and LotRO I decided to play EVE and have really enjoyed the change of pace......

For anyone looking for a new MMORPG:
1. Go to the Game List page.
2. Sort by rating.
3. Start from #1 and work your way down to about #10 or so. Every other game on the list is basically a copy of the most popular/successful games.
4. If you haven't found a new MMORPG by then, you need to take a break from this genre and see how incredible other games can be.
Well yes, i am trying other games from different genres, i just think it would be nice to hear other peoples oppinions on games and the reason they like them. Thank you for the post anyway
EverQuest One.. First MMO and it will always have a place in my heart..
PlanetSide is next because it was great game and it was different form half the MMOs that was out.. Give me something new to look at..
Thanks Impyriel for the sig^^
Go back to WoW. After playing it. Any other MMO will only disappoint.

While WOW is a good game it offers nothing that can't be found in EVE, EQII, FFXI or L2.
Fact is no MMO currently on the market offers anything that really separates it from the pack. At best you're picking games based on personal preference and at worst the lesser evil. It's no coincidence we're hearing the growing discontent among players and vets especially.
For instance...
My current favorites are CoX, L2 & PW. Now think about it for a minute..none of my favs offer anything that can't be found in EQII, WOW, EVE or LOTRO. Yep the same holds true for you're favorites as well because in the current landscape it's more about presentation & packaging than anything.
So people trumpeting any one title as the end all be all these days is silly at best. When someone drops a title with true advancements in AI, battle mechanics, armor & skill customization plus audio to match those graphics then bring out the trumpets.

Excellent points..... and really does sum up the current MMORPG landscape pretty well... (except of course for the MMORPG that I'm playing, EVE)

Yep, all MMOs are pretty much the same except they try to differ by having special features that others don't, even if they're really small or seem like gimmicky add ons. L2 has castle sieges, EQ2 apparently has different character advancement options than WoW, WoW is really really polished and acsessible to the mass market, etc etc blah blah blah
the only game that seems special out of the MMO trend is EVE, which obviously isn't for everyone
Vanguard and EQ2 say hello..
You for know a MMO that has the most people paying to play.. Blizzard sure adds very little to it, lol.

Dark Age Of Camelot, by far.
Here's why:
1. Best non-ganking PVP
2. Solid PVE
3. Best Lore
4. Mount at lvl 10
5. Solid graphics
