XFire's bonus stat this month shows something that took me by total surprise. The bonus stat shows "The Top 10 Subscription MMORPG Games by average hours played daily (excluding WoW)" and three of SOE's games are there. SWG, Everquest II, and Everquest. The interesting part is the order they show.
SWG is ranked fourth, and is the highest ranked. Everquest II ranks sixth and the original Everquest comes in at number 10.
So assuming the percentage of XFire users is about the same across SOE games, and they should be considering Station Pass, SWG is SOE's flagship product? Either SWG is doing better than many of us think, or the rest of SOE products are in really, really bad shape.

There is no such thing as an interesting XFire stat.
Not intended as a flame on the OP BTW.
SWG Team Mtg.
You are joking me right? You are really going to back behind this and say this info. is true??..
If so,.. I have some great land for you to buy if you like sand.
Been there done that:
Asherons Call,SWG,AOC,D&D,COH,Anarchy Online,DAOC,EVE,Guild Wars,LOTRO,POTBS,WAR,WW2, and Rift
well they say swg is doing better than anyone thought, let me tell you something:
350.000 subscribers pre-cu and pre-nge where not enough for SOE, so they had to put 2 major combat upgrades trying hard to get satisfied with their subscription numbers...
no mather how good swg does in its current state, what do you think how satisfied SOE must be with below 50.000 subscribers currently?
thinking about it makes me smile, because I know that they must feel very very frustrated about the current state of their numbers, no mather what xfire has to say
"You must be either retarded or a fanboi..."
By the way, Xfire only tracks the hours of people who use the Xfire program. These numbers are exclusive to xfire users. It is not representative, or all-encompassing of mmo players out there, not even close. So in conclusion, I do not believe xfire to be a good benchmark.
Xfire cannot be used to represent the general public. Some game communities latch on to xfire for various reasons, while other game's communities completely avoid it. I think a lot of it has to do with community tools built ingame, general maturity level of the game, and general powergamer draw the game has. Some gamers actually run a false program under that game's name to fool xfire into recording the user as constantly playing that game...all in an effort to get the game higher ranked on xfire's board.
I've played several FPSs where no one in the community I played with had xfire, switched to a different fps, and all the sudden every single player had xfire.
Xfire is just way too lopsided and those stats should not ever be compared...ever.
Well for just the fun of it, let's assume that Xfire stats do represent the general public.
Just let me explain, one moment please, again, this is an assumption...
Taking Eve-Online at 170,000* subscribers with an average hours of 9,925; that yields a multiplier of 17.129.
So take the 17.129 and multiple with SWG's hours of 3,816... that would mean there are 65,364 subscribers.
Hummm... maybe there is some bit of truth to Xfire Stats, as it comes close to that 'reported' 50,000 mark.
* I do not know of the current subscriber numbers for Eve-Online, but I think 170,000 is a safe number. If 200,000 was used, then the result would have been about 76,900 SWG subscribers... still a ways below 100,000.
And that is why...
Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.
X-Fire is and always has been a tool for FPS playing L33t speak kiddies.
oh well that explains why SWG ranks highest then

If you look at the MMO hours player for October SWG doesn't even rank in the top 10. They were at top forth - at one time but not no more.
Maybe a longtime ago in a galaxy far far away.
I'd say they've tanked.
To just follow up the bonus stat looks like a listing of the top 10 "of all time" rather than a look at the games current situation or MMO's in general.
This is very interesting, I'm guessing the majority of SWG, EQ, and EQ2 players don't use xfire, so it's first, and only the minority use it o.o. SWG is doing better than i thought lol

Nope, you can't draw any conclusions in the grand scheme of things where Xfire comes in. SWG would be ranked up there with WoW if only 1% of WoW subscribers used Xfire and 100% of SWG players did. It's no indication of a games popularity other than the games popularity within the Xfire userbase.

I just wonder what makes those stats intresting, from all the online people i personaly know/known none of them uses Xfire, the same i see allot of times with people saying something about Amazon.com , same thing why do people consider those to be sort of benchmarks for the population/subs of games?...just curious?
most people who log into SWG just stand AFK in a cantina for 24hour so it doesnt count.
Actually SWG'ers do seem to use Xfire. Back in Jan 2006 (furthest back I could go in their stats) SWG was #7 in the MMO's. June 2006 #9, June 2007 #10 from that point is drops off the top 10.
I seriously doubt that all the SWG gamers using XFire suddenly decided in July of 2007 to uninstall Xfire and keep playing SWG.
They just stopped playing SWG.
I REALLY wish there were stats for Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec 2005.

Most of the guilds I have joined use Ventrilo or Teamspeak. Many MMO's have an ingame friends list, which makes that aspect of X-Fire redundant.
I have never played SWG, so cannot comment on what is used in that community. In the 8 different Mmorgs I have played I never came across Xfire.
The only conclusion you can make is that the X-Fire community plays those games.
AFK Entertainers. Nuff said. :P
SWG is probably the ONLY game you can play without actually playing.
I happen to know of one troublemaker in SWG who keeps the client running all day long just so she can read chat logs and stir up trouble, but doesn't really even play. And yes - she uses Xfire.
Without giving out names, her current stats for the past 7 days is at 79 hours.

WarRock > SWG lol

Right. It's more accurate to say that it's a metric of the number of active xfire users that play games X, Y, and Z.
It's not a total sub indicator of any sort. I bet a number of those EQ1 users are still using Roger Wilco. Tee hee.

Doesnt Sony and x-fire have a business relationship? Isnt x-fire going to be used as the official communication tool with Sony live or whatever they're calling it? Just curious.
See you in the dream..
The Fires from heaven, now as cold as ice. A rapid ascension tolls a heavy price.
Warrock is currently 10th with over 1.2 million mins played today and just under 10k people playing it on xfire. SWG isn't even on the top 10 MMO list which number 10 only has 7K mins played a day! All it takes for SWG to make it on the list today is have 4/5 people who play it all day long
So that's not proof because most people who play the other games don't use Xfire which jsut for a insult purpose is used by the younger crowd and we all know who the NGE was aimmed at lol.
I bet Obraik puts in all those mins anyways over 5 accounts lol.
No serious MMO player would leave an app running that does nothing but suck bandwidth and add CPU load. When playing, you have your client up and Teamspeak or Vent. That's IT.
