Life is massively multiplayer. Do you require someone to hold your hand in everything you do in RL?
Agree with the reply, here. I personally prefer to solo. Sometimes I play for a couple of hours for days in a row.. then I might not play for a couple of weeks, due to time constraints. So, I spend a lot of time creating new characters to try out, or leveling very slowly. I don't want my lack of confidence in my fresh young character to negatively affect other people in a group situation, nor do I want to be hindered while trying to find a groove with my character.
None of this means that I am anti-social, and I STILL want to play MMOGs! There are other benefits - casual interaction with other gamers, a "personal" touch to my travels, assistance from others when needed, and my assisting them when needed. I can do all of this without being tied to a group situation, and still have fun!
