I have never actually heard anyone say this, haha, tell me more ^^
He's not saying resilience killed WoW in terms of the definition of resilience. Resilience is a stat that was added.. to give players more stats to try and get so they think they are cool. It is redundant. Now it makes some people harder than ever to kill.
haha, god I thought the first reply was bad ^^
Resilience was put in to make a clear divide between Raiding gear and PvP gear. It worked, now Raiding gear is only decent for PvP, if you want good PvP gear you have to earn it through PvP since only that gear *has* resilience + a focus on stamina instead of mana conservation.
It's amazing how people can whine for raiding and PvP to finally be split and when it finally happens and works people ignore that fact entirely and complain about something new ^^

Your talking about resilience like I dont understand how the mechanic works. Look Im not going to have some phillosophical debate on how Resilience/bc messed up pvp. No matter what, that all comes down to opinion. I am however surprised that you havent heard anyone say that. Kinda makes me wonder, are you a raider or a pvp'er?
I have no problem with there being gear for pvp'ers and gear for raiders. I just think the benefits of resilience are a bit over the top and it helps certain classes more than others. And Im doing what I said I wouldnt..so Ill just leave it at that.
Will WAR be number 1? I doubt it. Not because I dont think WAR will be a great game but its not a game that will cater to everyone.
WoW is the McDonalds of MMO's. Its not the best, but everyones eaten there.
no i do not think WoW is the best mmo out there personally i hate WoW but thats just my opion. i was just wonderin if ne thought this game could have the top in terms of ppl playin it but 2 me it doesnt really matter how many ppl play it just as long as it is enjoyable 2 me. personally i cant wait till this game comes out because it looks like it could hold my attention for a really long time(unlike other mmos *cough* WoW). i have played DAoC and love the RvR so i cant wait for that part of the game and i like how they will try nd make it so you can do both PvE nd PvP/RvR instead of PvE until u get high enough for PvP/RvR. but ne ways thanks for the helpful posts.

It doesnt matter if WAR is #1 in subscriptions. It matters if WAR is a fun game. If so, then people will play it. Mythic doesnt need 10 million subs, but IM sure it will easily get 1 million which is more than enough to support the game.
Honestly, I don't think so -- but I do think it could easily be #2 in North American and European subscription numbers.
But here's a good thought....
Many, many people's first MMORPG was WoW. That's ... kinda sad actually.
Now, if new people are drawn into the MMORPG market and WAR becomes their first game, I would envy those new people because I think they will have a better, more exciting and fun time starting their MMORPG experience with a game like WAR.
Time will tell, but I really feel that Mythic's Realm vs. Realm system is waaaaay the frak more fun than that WoW PvP mess.
Again, time will tell, and I do hope that by 2nd Quarter '08 they mean EARLY in the quarter. Like around April or May.
Warhammer Online will probably be a famous game and will prolly have many subscribers although I don't think any game will "kill" WoW, first of all WoW is releasing a new expansion which lots of people will put their eyes on espicially me .
Although I think WAR is a better game there is always something you do and what you do you always do it for your realm which really makes me horny in this game. Just wish I'll get into the Closed Beta.
WoW will die when the next big main stream fad hits the market. Who knows, maybe pogs will make a come back?
We had people saying Vanguard would kill it, then we had people saying LotRO would kill it, and now WAR and AoC, it isn't going to put up those numbers. I do think it can take a nice chunk out of the market from WoW, but I would not expect to realistically see 9mil + subscribers. I would be perfectly fine with 500k which I think they will get rather easily, and I can see them getting as high as 2 or 3 million, but 9 million + is truly pushing it.

I think WAR will get 500k easily, because there are already 500k people who wants to do the beta! And it's 5-6 months before they launch the game. I think they get a lot players from the start, but 9mil is really high yes. I see also people from WoW move over to WAR, because they are tired of playing WoW for 3 years.
In order to become #1 WAR would need to introduce a lot of new players or steal a lot of players from WoW. Alternative 1: is pretty much impossible, and alternative 2: means that you have to steal the bad community from WoW. I would prefer that the game doesn't become extremely popular, it's better with a medium big nice community rather than a large crappy community.
Im just wonderin how many ppl think this game could finally kick WoW off the top nd become the best mmo out there. personally i cant wait till this game come out, it looks so awesome nd seems like it might be a good change from WoW. I just hope it doesnt become a WoW clone
It could become the best game out there in terms of MMORPGs, but what you fail to realize is that subscription numbers is no proof of a great game. People bandwagon ride when it comes to games.
I agree and disagree. Subscriptions numbers in the first 3-6 months can be misleading, and are not proof of a good game. Consistent subscription numbers over a 1-2 year period do tell a bit more in terms of what is a good game, and what is not.
Now, in WoW's case, I simply think that 1)The asian population has almost nothing else to choose from but crap games, and 2) In the case of the american market, MMO fantasy players have little else to go to, so theyre always clinging to WoW or going back to it when they have MMO withdrawls...
Hell we're seeing players go back to Vanguard now (improved as it might be) and I think that is a clear indiciation of how crappy this american MMO market is right now, and the lack of good competition the main fantasy games have right now....The fantasy genre is in a world of hurt.
Wait until WAR and AoC come out...you will see WoW subscriptions drop, and I will make the bold prediction that WAR - if released globally- will indeed knock WoW off the top sooner or later.
Its a better game overall, with more dynamic features, better PvP/RvR, and designed to be rich with player generated content in the form of RvR, keep and zone control, race campaigns, visual character growth, public quests, etc...
Sure, I'm comfortable with making the prediction- WAR eventually will topple WoW.

I agree
WAR isnt trying to appeal to *everyone* who plays to MMOs (and neither is AOC)

Torrential
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)

So here's mine WAR as #1?
No, but it'll prolly make a damn good game better than WoW imo
moo?

No, because even if WOW subs in EU/US dropped to zero, Blizzard would still report 4 million Asian* subs in their totals.
Who the hell are you, and why should I care?
Congrats! You are a victim of Trollstar!
sooo true!
