craziest bug memories

ArcAngel3ArcAngel3 Member Posts: 2,931

I just read a post about objects on Kashyyk (never could spell that right btw) appearing as boxes with question marks.  That reminded me of many of the crazy bugs this game has seen.  Some of them give me a chuckle nowadays.

I think the bug I found the funniest was when your new spaceship would launch....without you lol.  That was hilarious.

Another bug that makes me laugh now (drove me nuts at the time) was when I'd log in to my house, and find that the devs had put in some new rock or something, and it was blocking the exit.  There was no house pack up back in those days, so I was trapped lol 0_o.

A similar bug had an imperial outpost, on a hillside no less, spawn over top of my house.  LOL my house was buried under the hill.  Fortunately I wasn't in it that time.  But, I had to kill all the imps in the outpost, and then the hillside would disappear, finally allowing me entrance.  What the heck?

Another crazy bug had you enter combat with inanimate objects that you needed to interact with lol.  Like you'd try to use a starport terminal, and it would pick a fight with you.

Then there was one of the new game "upgrades" lol, I forget which one it was, but I logged into the game and found myself in my underwear, unable to equip any of my gear because of some nutty new certification deal.  Wow, I thought, the game is "upgraded" and here I stand in my gitch 0_o.  At first I thought it was a bug, I soon learned that it was all part of the plan for an improved gaming experience.

Sometimes I chuckle when other games get new content and there are a few known bugs to work out.  I often find myself thinking, "hey at least I'm still wearing pants." ^_^.

oh i thought of another fun bug... in anchohead my girlfriend used to pvp as a combat medic.. she would sit in the basement of the tavern and lob aoe poison that would kill people on the surface in mass...

well .. there was a bug in SWG that vbecame an expliot really soon after some people found it out , even tho it had been there since day 1. ( i found it almost 4 months before i ever saw it mentioned on the forums and reported it )

you used to be able to examine a mob and see its gear ala WOW's examine.

well you could could also reach out and take that gear when fighting a mob.

Got a LS off a DJM while people were trying to kill it on dant after someone had kited it to the outpost.

he STILL beat the crap out of 30-40 people before it died, and i had a lightsaber ...

this gear had the MOB multipliers on it so the guns would be like 50x better than the best player made weapon or even the elite dropped rifle.

Since i never tried to use ythe LS and kept it on a wall mount i made in my house as a decoration the GM when he came to see what the bug was about and i showed him , let me keep it displayed. Since it was a mob weapon it did not convert to CU or NGE stats either so unless my dantooine mansion was removed there is still a LS on display that would be the ultimate weapon on the server ( bria).

When I heard Jabba's palace disappeared the first thing I did was rush out there and try to put a merchant tent down and label it "Jabba's Hut"

Unfortunetly it was still a no-build zone :(

The bug that drove me up the wall in the Pre-CU had to be NPC's spawning in a Tree or Rock.

See that right there is one of the things that made the BH Grind so f'n hard. Get mission, fire probe droid, head to planet (or drop mission if it's on Dath cuz lord knows driving up hill after hill with half the planet after you when your trying to kill ONE npc wasn't 'fun' in any shape or form.) fire tracker droid, find NPC, he's in a Rock or Tree and there's no real way to get him out...

Say what you will, that was a good 15 to 20 mins of just getting there to find the mark stuck and unable to kill. Sometimes you got lucky, ya know if there was a NPC or Mob near by that you could do an area hit on and get the NPC to run out... The Quest ones where kinda bad too, thankfuly all you had to do was go talk to the NPC Quest Giver to have another NPC spawn....

And then there was the Eta-2 Quest with Kash....

One part of this Quest has you over by the Kash Starport and some Wookiee Commando's will spawn in... Now however 'you' had to be the one to kill them. If someone besides yourself killed one, you didn't get any credit, and dear lord about 9 times out of 10 you had that one kid who'd just shoot anything that moved. Better still the spawn SUCKED! So the damn Wookiee's would spawn up on top of the hill, get stuck and be unable to shoot at... So really to do this mission you had to run inside the Starpoint, next to the Starship Term and let them spawn right on top of you.

Well I should label those "Bugs that drove me crazy." As for Crazy Bugs...

This was around last year, there was a bug in Deep Space right after they fixed Freedom Station. For a few months the Station just couldn't be killed, still after they fixed it a new bug came around.

If you blew up Freedom Station or the ISD or well really anything in Deep Space, stuff would spawn in Kessel... Lots of stuff... What made it even better was it would force a spawn of Rebel or Imp Corvette's... So Kessel would be overloaded with 8 Imp Vetts (along with the Fighter/Gunboat spawn) 10 Rebel Corvette's (again along with the Fighter/Gunboat spawn) the lag was BAD! I'm talking your framerate went down to like 5, your ping was at about 5k, and your praying you can get out of the lagfest without something killing you...

Sadly it took SOE a few weeks to fix this, mostly due to the fact that SOE was on the whole PvP trip at the time and "We already fixed something in space!" that some of the Dev's gave off a little...

Right there with you on the BH mission bugs.... I remember a stretch when I got 12 of 14 bugged, mob in tree, target spawning over water, target spawning "white". Occasionally, if you had a combat probot, you could get the target to come out of the rock, but not often...

It took me 3 months to master BH in the bad old days, because of the bugged missions and the really low BH xp for missions. Good times though.

I lost a lot of items crossing server boundries, especially because I went to the weapons facility on Naboo alot and there was a boundry very close to that, lost many holocrons and weapons from the Imperial inquisitor because of that....

  • MathosMathos Member Posts: 897

The knockdown one was my biggest pain in the ass. I hated that so much..

One of the funniest for me was when I went into my house to find nothign but space. Literally, space. Complete with stars and everything. All my decor was still there, floating in nothingness. I still have screen shots

    You cannot mount while mounted.

Also the purple potion you looted in RoTW which was a big box with a ? on it. I was so mad when they fixed that.

I went to the WP location for the sith but no one was there. I kept getting spammed by the old man, it was crazy. One Jedi on our server actually killed Mel the day of the NGE and unlocked Jedi a second time. :P

Nope, but that was fun too!

I was refering to how you would go invisible to others. I think the only way to correct it was to re-log.

Master CH.  I would pull out two pets and run from my house to Mos Eisley.  Right outside the city, my pets would stop following me and stand at the server boundry.  I'd run back to my house and try to pull them out again but was told they were already out.  So I pulled out two more pets and ran to Mos Eisley and on my way there, my first two pets were still standing at the server boundry.  Wash, rinse repeat and soon I had all 8 (or maybe it was 16, I don't remember the limit) pets out.  I was Dr. Dolittle with my army of critters laying waste to all in my path.  it was nuts watching my toon run across the desert with a dozen or so pets in tow.

lol, I remember that,. it still happens. Usually when leaving a cantina. Once that happened to me and I was able to run all over theed, through buildings ect. I couldn't see the starport, or any of the buildings around. I could see other players, But they couldn't see me.
