Perhaps they were banking too much on the Garriot name, hoping for a sci-fi Ultima Online.  I just don't think this type of MMO could take off to be a top competitor, but I'm sure they will make their $.

    Lets just say...

You and your buddies managed to stick around to level 40. Apparently you folks did like the game, you cant deny that then. And to say this game is a joke, your gotta be serious. Who in their right mind plays a game they dont like. Getting to 40 is some serious hours behind the computer on this game.

Sp people who played a mmorpg for a month can't say its bad because they obviously liked the game, and therefore are lying. OR they didn't like it and are therefore complete retards for playing that long.

People who played the game only for two days obviously can't say it sucks either because they don't really know the game, and haven't been giving it a chance.

    I agree with you!

Only people playing a mmorpg for exactly 2 weeks 6 days and 14 hours can say the game is bad.

Everyone else is either lying, a retard, or a whiner.

I agree with thekid1 here. People who have been playing the released game, should say they opinion freely in here. Of course saying opinion should be sayed in polite manner. I agree with OP, after level 30, there isn't enough content, there is content but not enough.

When I come to some games forum, I expect it to be helpfull for new players. Tell the truth about the game and so on.

How ever, what I don't expect is that people who don't play or like the game anymore or have no intend to play it in future, are in forum bashing, trolling and telling all new commers like fuck off. There is really bad behavior from many players in this forum. If You don't like the game, You don't play the game and have no intend to play the game in future, WTF are You still doing here?

MMORPGs with gameplay described as "click, click, click and more click until the mobs dead"

    WoW - check

    EQ/EQ2 - check

    CoH - check

    EVE-O - check

    SWG - check

    Vanguard - check

    LOTRO - check

    FFXI - check

    Second Life - nope

    Guild Wars - check

    UO- check

    TR - check

Okay, so we have now narrowed down the games you CAN enjoy without clicking mobs dead.....enjoy Second Life!

Ohh and no content past 30?   I'm 32 atm and have been doing content for the last 32 lvls.  If there is no content past 32, please, tell me what the quests are in my quest log or how you managed to grind the last 20 lvls...off of mobs in CPs?  There were no quests in the zones past Pools?  Oh, that's right....there just isn't as much...which they already said was being worked on.  It's a shame you got so far ahead of the curve that you got ahead of the content additions.  I guess working on the other classes till they catch up to you is out of the question since.....well you seem to hate about anything but Second Life anyway because of the whole clicking to kill process.   Good luck!  I hear SL is an okay game where you can even create your own content.

Damnit! I hate to go off the freaken deep end, but you people are so damn ignorant.

-YOU-  -STILL-  -DO-  -NOT  -GET-  -IT-

    Here, i'll use caps lock.

THERE IS NOTHING MORE TO THE GAME BUT CLICKCLICKCLICK KILLKILLKILL

Do you understand now? There is nothing MORE to do. All the games you listed have ALTERNATIVE means of enjoyment to do. Also a few have meaningful combat where you need to make choices. VG and EQ2 are perfect examples of that. FFXI has skill chains, etc. Combat is MORE indepth in them then TR -EVER- will be. It's a wannabe shoot 'em up FPS, but without the FPS elements. It's all turn based clever design garbage.

    { Mod Edit }

Hes right there is nothing good from tr combat. YOU target banes then click your mouse 1,000,000 times till the banes die. Omg mouse click fest Game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive never seen such a bore combat system in my life, i fall asleep just by clicking my mouse on a bane 4,000,000 times till it dies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol, serously this is not an mmorpg.

    Wow humanity is doomed.

Ok i will try to be respectful in this post but it is incredibly hard after seeing such amazing displays of idoicy.

I had a level 61 hunter in WoW, the amazing stratagy i used to get him their, i knew how to hit the 1-9 keys, until my fingers where numb or the mob was dead, and when the mob died, i moved to the next one. Rinse and repeat, 99% of WoWs quests told you to go out and hit the 1-9 keys untill X mobs where killed.

Same exact thing with other games i have played such as, LOTRo, Vanguard, SWG, Lineage II, Guild Wars, Hellgate: london, Everquest II, Eve online (though this was one of the better ones), DAoC, COV/H and a few other MMOs i have played that i dont remember the names of. Every single on of them had a unique feature, i was called hitting the 1-9 keys untill a mob died, except Eve which added a little bit of verity (still was boring as anytihng though)

Their was nothing more to wow then click click click, let me illustrate,

To kill a mob, you clicked it, and then hit the 1-9 keys untill it died.

To do a quest you Clicked on a guy and then went out and killed X mobs by doing the killing method i described above.

To craft you first went out, and Clicked on stuff to mine/harvest it. then you clicked in the crafting window untill the amount of the item you needed was made.

To PVP you Clicked on the other player, and then used the 1-9 keys untill he was dead

To raid you went in a dungoun and killed mobs and did quests which i showed the process to above.

So that pretty much sums up WoW game play, oh and grinding reputation, that is just more Clicking even worse cause its the same thing over and over and over and over and over again. and leveling to sixty required killing about 75,000 mobs even with quests, so that amounts to alot alot of Clicks.  So please explain to me how WoW is not clicking.

Btw  vanguard is the same exact thing if you want to use that as a example, though vanguard is my second favorite MMO i have ever played after TR.

PS. i bolded the words clicking to help you see them

Everyone is missing the point.  Of course it's all clicking and hitting buttons.  That's all computers are!  And on the twelfth day God created the Wii.  And the medical cases of carpel tunnel decreased but shoulder injuries went up.  But he saw that it was good.  And the people rejoyced.  No longer would they be required to ONLY click and type.

Every computer game is click and type.  What I'm doing right now is click and type.  When I look for porn, it's click and type (albeit one handed but the you get the idea).  So yeah... EVERY game, EVERY application, EVERY day at the office, it's click and type.  The point is there is nothing to capture your attention or to make you think.  When you were clicking the 75,000 creatures to level up, did you stop to read the story lines?  Did you know WHY the NPC wanted you to click 75,000 creatures?  Are you looking for the MMO or are you looking for the RPG?  Do you remember the RPG days before compters? It was ALL about the story.  Read the stories the game creators have written for you or you're nothing more than that chicken in Las Vegas (or is it San Francisco?) that kicks your butt at tic-tac-toe.  It doesn't know it's playing a game.  It's just grinding for chicken feed.

P.S. click type click click type type type click type DING!... Yay.

I agree that people are pulling a fast one when they simply claim that TR is just a monotonous click-fest.  As others have pointed out, all games from a complete reductionist standpoint are just really exercises in clicking - but that's the fault of the medium (i.e. computer/keyboard/mouse), not the game.  However, what makes this clicking fun is the immersiveness and challenge the game provides.  I'll admit that for TR it is fun when you first start.  The combat is novel in that it is active, fast, and hectic.  However, that being said, the novelty might wear off and the game you once saw as innovative is now a huge deathmatch server with you vs. the Bane.

I played the game for some time and found it fun; it really is fun to just get in there and fire off your shotgun/pistol/rifle.  Indeed, using cover is a great concept and adds some depth to the combat.  However, I can't comment much past that since I haven't reached the upper-tiers of advancement.  I can sympathize with the OP, however.  While TR's combat is great, that's all it really has going for it as far as I've seen.  People have said it before, and I'll say it now, TR really seems like a one-trick-pony.  I think people who complain about the combat actually enjoy it (or at least some do), but have grown tired of it quickly because there's nothing else to do to break the sheer repetitiveness of the gameplay.

Now, I wouldn't go as far to say that the game "sucks" - far from it.  I've played some terrible games, and TR does not fall under that category.  Perhaps it might be underwhelming or disappointing in some respects, but definitely not bad.

I agree with Shoal, there is little to do ingame other than kill mobs after mobs in increasing numbers as you level up. The game is good don't  get me wrong, just little to do than kill Bane. From level 1 to lvl 35 now and it wears  VERY thin and the upper level content seems somewhat uninspited at best.  For example, when you blows up a Predator or Juggernaut, it's like they were made of paper all along...no loud exposion, no concussion wave, no smoke, no stunning visual that informs you that you just did something really impressive....the result time after time is a one second pop effect with very little awe and you pick up the loot left from it and move on to the next lame target.

I think that if the crafting side was a viable in the game instead of being a mess currently, it would offer something else to focus on, but for now it's just killing Bane after waves of them with no let up. Like I said, it wears very thin after a while and surely can't hold everyone's attention.  I think one of the other areas that needs tweaked is the Bane shooting accuracy. From level one to level 35, they are all dead eyes and never miss a shot. Their bullets travel around corners to a certain degree. If I recall correctly, a regular lead bullet from a sniper rifle travels in a linear path and not around a corner of a tree. Same thing with an energy plasma round. When did they follow your character when he / she is bunny hopping while moving around corners?

I'm sticking with the game temporarily (1-2 months) because I know it's different than the WoW cookie cutter games out there. I hope more content is added to this game in the future and that it evolves into being more enjoyable on a wider scale for the masses.

Eve-Online, EQ2, DnL, SWG (Dead), Guild Wars, Anarchy Online, EQ, DAoC, Planet Side, WoW, LOTR, Tabula Rasa.

    On another note...

I was talking to two friends whom I had suggested to try the open beta as they were looking for something new, they did and didn't have much positive feedback. However one of just bought the game and is actually enjoying it a lot more this time around...

So even though they might have shipped too early, it does seem it will shape it up for the better, and yeah I hear it's a lot of 'fun' Which is what matters ^_^

I am mystified by this as currently if you kill a predator it crashes flaming to the ground and then explodes, if you're too close to where it falls there's a damage/knockback effect, juggernauts have a number of different ~3 second animations when they are taken down and all visually impressive.

enhaxed, good catch...you can always spot the trolls on this board when they claim to be xx lvls and then say bogus BS like what you spoted.

Oh, and I don't see how anyone at lvl35 would think the higher lvl content would be uninspired after doing instances like Maligo base in Plateau.  That one instance alone is bar none, better than 90% of the instances of any MMO on the market.  If higher lvl instances even do as good as that 30ish lvl instance, they promise to be rocking.

It is clear that Diross did not plat this game..and if he did, I doubt he made it past boot camp...as even the predators with their blast waves on explosion are in the first zone.

You played for 2 weeks...had the best 2 weeks of your MMO experience in the last few years...and canceled?   What...were you afraid it might hook you in?  There is planty of content for anyone playing 2 weeks.  If you ran out, it wasn't the game's fault.

  • darianledarianle Member UncommonPosts: 47

well, i got to about 30 and then the "new-game experience" went away.   There weren't enough quest (my level)  for me to do and i just sorta try to gring to level so that more quest would be open  - that was hella boring.  So i stop logging in for a few days; that few days turn into 2 weeks - and then i  cancel.

I try a few other classes, but they all felt the same.  They all shoot guns; they all had like 2 skill.  There werent enough class separation for my taste.   -- Kinda felt like Team Fortress, but not as exciting.

The game is fun for the first levels.

When you hit 30 it is not much to do. Also at 25 you encounter several bugged quests. Give it half a year of updates and this game will be worth it.

If you are a casual player; then the game have loads of fun to offfer. To bad I leveld to fast.,,

Why is everyone even bothering to post a response to a guy named "Vanguarde"?

Also, the latest patch just dropped a good deal of content for lvl 50 players, and one of the longest lists of game and bug fixes I have ever seen.  The improvements and fixes have been extremely noticeable for my character, and I was excited like a little schoolboy last night logging in after the patch and respeccing.

I think the rating on this site may be a tad bit too high, but most definitely between a 7.5 - 8.0.  I think the high rating on this site is angering people, and creating a need for ePeen justification.  This has to be the only reason, because this game is far from being a joke...  A little unfinished?  Sure.  But not a joke.

I was playing Tabula Rasa since its launch. I reached level 32 two weeks ago. Then i quit because of extreme lack of content. I managed to grind to lvl 32 and found that it wasnt very fun. I didnt log in for days... which turned into a week and just thought it wasnt really worth the money for nowand quit. Maybe ill go back if they improve it...

  • giodee21giodee21 Member UncommonPosts: 31

What exactly did the game lack in content give your description of your experience . I dont understand how you can post a sob story with no information. Did the game just not appeal to you did you play casually or did you hard core grind . If you did hard core grind then Im assuming you bypassed much of the content available to you. The content issue would then be your own fault. The next time you decide to critisize a game start with an honest opinion not just a broad idiotic title this game is a joke. I see no joke in your OP cause Im not laughing.
