Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.
Yea I have to agree there MOST of the votes are in fact invaild as IF it's ment to be '07's games and SWG and PotBS aren't '07 releases (if your gonna bash PotBS put in the the 'failed in '08' bit), this 'award' voting is troll bait, and TBH we should have a list of options and tick boxes to select (like the best award voting we did)...
But seeing as their isn't
Worst Graphics:
Good graphics are always in the eye of the beholder however gun to head I'd say..
Pirates of the Carabian Online - with the money they have with the P2P 'feature' they could have made it look so much better (even Square Enix did a better job with it in Kindom Hearts 2, all they really had to do was 'borrow' from that)
Least Fun:
Fury - It's just basic battleground/arena battles from WoW or GW which TBH have more meaning to the players (yea I said somthing positive about WoW's PVP) and both are more value for money (even if it's just gone F2P)
Most Desolate:
Vanguard: SOH - The fact it was pushed out with a broken engine killed it
Worst Use of Popular IP or License:
Pirates of the Carabian Online - It's just a gimmick money spinner, even PotBS seems better and thats just hit open beta
Lamest Launch:
Vanguard SOH - again the broken engine killed it
Most Likely to be Cancelled in 2008:
Star Trek: Online - with the current sueing and the fact the orginal dev company took this HUGE IP and dropping their own game for it even when they couldn't cope with just the one MMO for a small company, hence why the company folded, they should have stuck with their own game, G&H could have been good
Biggest Stinker:
Hellgate: London - For one this shouldn't EVER be classed as a MMO, it's just a singleplayer game with paid for mutliplayer options, it's instanced, it's FAR to liner to have any freedom as MMO do have (even DDO and GW although also heavily instanced allowed you to pick your own path not force to down the same path to 'unlock' the areas).
Secondly i'm highly disapointed with Flagship 'from the people that brought you Diablo..' shame they just brought across the basic ideas already redone in about 6/7 'Diablo like' games and just slapped a FPS combat system to it, from experience and based off those 'clones' you would have thought they would have understood the likes and dislikes about the gener.. Hell if they were gonna opt for the 'FPS' style type RPG, they should have looked at Elderscrolls or at least Halflife..
'Sprital successor to Diablo' Hellgate isn't, irronically I hear their other game Mythos is more like the 'Diablo' style, and thats going to be F2P mostly I wonder which one out of the two the 'Diablo' playerbase would enjoy when it gets released?
Why are people voting for Dungeon Runners and Sword of the New World? If we are opening this up to free-to-play games, there are far, far, FAR worse games in every category than anything mentioned so far.
Horizons (Stop voting for Hellgate just because the first person did it. I bet most of you wouldn't even think of hellgate if you were not reminded by the first poster.)
Last year, I voted SWG in all categories, and it won nearly every category, but this year I'm going to do something different. I'm only going to vote in one category:
Most likely to be canceled in 2008, and to that award, I honor Fury.
There should be a category for worst developer and worst publisher, I think the award would go to Perpetual and SOE respectively.
