Anyway, I see your point but I disagree. Look at this in terms of old UO since you seem to be a vet of UO...If I was Chaos and I saw you with your death robe on with probably nothing on your body and you were Order I'd gank you in a second. Why you ask? Because you are Order! If you don't like it then join Chaos, that's my theory on PvP. Why would I let you just continue to level so that one day you could kick my ass? I'd want to inhibit you from leveling as much as possible, especially if I don't have to go too far out of my way to drop you.
I had no problem cutting down newbies with my 70 rogue. If they were on the roads, it was their fault for traveling without regard to their safety. A hint said travel on the roads to avoid hostile monsters, it never mentions thats also the best place to find hostile players. If they were tucked away in some not often visited area they were mostly safe from me. I'm not talking about corpse camping type of ganking, just the kind of ganking that teaches a new player that easiest way isnt always the safest way and to always pay attention to their surroundings.
You are not safe unless your name is blue. Death could happen at any moment.
A lot of people start off with a fairly peaceful attitude when they first play on a PvP server.
"I'll only kill people who attack me. I'll only kill people around my level. I'll only kill people on my KOS list etc."
Then they get ganked 50+ times and start to re-evaluate...
If one side ganks whenever they have advantage, and the other side fails to make use of any advantage it has, guess which side will end up progressing faster.
I rather enjoy the game. And the ganking isnt a problem. The problem I see there is no penalties for the level 70 takeing over a town like "southshore" Not only is he "Immune" to the NPC guards, but the players have no chance to take him out with out higher levels dropping what they do to come to the aid of the town. There is nothing to gain by doing so, but griefing other players, I've seen it done, expressed my displeasure of their actions, and as a payback watch them die on quest, time and time again.
Another thing most of these griefers dont get into PvP with levels close to their own...but enjoy watching the low levels log off.
The Best of the players that WANT to PvP you, will either help you kill off the beast your fighting, or wait till your healed enough to put up a good fight, those are the good guys. While the worst will run up behind you and kill ya while your occupied with the beast.
Yeah UO use to be great huh....:) Anyway, I see your point but I disagree. haha, like I said corpse looting was fun and easy to aquire things, but if I died and knew you were on the opposing faction waiting to gank me when I get pick my things up from my corpse, I wouldn't even bother coming back, I'd let my corpse rot and by that time I would have a new set of armor reagents and weapons to come back and fight ya. Smart people have extra gear and weapons in the bank, You really had nothing to lose from dying...Thats what made UO fun, and if you wanted money really quick make a ganking character kill lots of people wait for the bounty to build up get your friend or whatever to come kill you cut your head off and turn it in to the sherriff in town and split the damn money, simple as that...
people do not gank based on age. that is a misconception. They gank because thats what drives them at thier core.
Is ganking fun??
to those dishing it out, yes... to those recieving it... never.
Though personally, if you don't like this type of behavior among pvp-oriented people on these servers, you should move to a pve server and pvp in BGs and Arenas.

I play on a PvP server so i only do my duty as a horde!
killing someone 30 lvl's lower then me doesn't make me feel superior,
i kill everyone i come across, and sometimes they return the favour.
That's what pvp servers are like. My victims have no gender, age or lvl, i treat em all the same

I hope it won't disappoint you too much, but ganking is not a PvP, nor corpse camping someone.
REALITY CHECK

I guess when you get to school and tell all your friends that you killed 23 horde characters last night, maybe they give you props.
