Artifact Entertainment has announced a new player event for Horizons called "The Legend of the Lost City." Here are some details from their site:
EVENT BACKGROUND : With the recent discovery of these stone statues of people, ancient stories that have drifted around as legends to scare the children at night are slowly ringing more and more true. There are too many similarities between what is said to of happened in the stories, and the latest happenings.
As the legend goes, many thousands of years ago, a king named Nazderon demanded of his kingdom that all the women between the ages of 16 and 36 to show themselves as he traveled from town to town, looking for a wife. Upon reaching this particular city, he found the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, and chose her to marry, but she did not wish to marry him.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Achievers realise that killers as a concept are necessary in order to make achievement meaningful and worthwhile (there being no way to "lose" the game if any fool can "win" just by plodding slowly unchallenged). -bartle

What is "to of"? Two prepositions?
Wait wait wait wait
Horizons is still having events? Aren't they like dead? Bwuhhhhhhuh?
Wonder if the game is any good? Should be cheap lol!!!!!
I recently tried out Horizons. How shall I put this? It was pretty good--the game had a truly interesting story, pretty good graphics, but it had it's flaws--many, in fact. The game ran horribly on my computer, and I've got a 3GHz pentium4, with a Radeon 9800XT.
I asked around, this isn't ab-normal. Apparently everyone using ATI cards gets bad FPS, because the game was made with total disregard for ATI, they concentrated on Nvidia cards only, and even they get terrible FPS in some places.
Using my system, which is considered above average, I was only getting maybe 30-45 FPS at 1024x768 with anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering OFF.
My other big problem with Horizons was the playerbase, or LACK of one, I should say.. I only came across six other people in the beginner town in my 7 days playing. I went to the biggest city on the server, and only found about 5 people in two hours of wandering around. All the servers are ranked at "Very Light" population, even on Peak Hours. And then a few days ago, I saw in a news article that Horizons's developer, Artifact Entertainment is filing for Bankruptcy.. I'm glad I quit.
Quitting was annoying, too. A lot of links on their website when you're logged in, simply don't work. Upgrading your account, cancelling your account brings you to I-Bill, and asks for a subscription number, which you don't GET until you've paid for a month..
The trial said "Cancel any time before the trial is over," and you don't have to pay. Too bad you only get the number once you pay for a month. I e-mailed IBill, and they sent me the number. Horizons was a pain in the rear, and I wouldn't consider playing it again, even if the story is interesting.. simply not enough people play it, and the company is filing for bankruptcy anyway. I wonder why!
