Having 2 topics a day were people ask for the "best" game is starting to get annoying. Not that I have to read thm or anything, and usually I dont, but every time I see one I clinch as to the ignorance of whoever.
All together now?
THERE IS NOOO BEST GAME!!!
It is like asking:
Who writes the funniest books?
Or:
Who makes the best movies?
(I remember a movie where this was made fun of, a guy who wrote questions for TV game shows got sacked for them to get a woman with more of a "woman" view on things. She was a true blond bimbo and when asked to produce a question she asked to book one. That made me laugh so hard I cried. Little did I know there are actually people out there like that..) Swedish movie named "Drömkåken" btw.. 
You can ask for opinions or whatever but asking for the best in any category is just plain, not smart. What is good or bad is subject to personal view, chances that what I consider best is going to be considered best by 100% or even 50% of humanity is none existent.
Hence the question is moot.
Oh please and pretty please, with sugar on top, stop asking this question?

Well they are, even if they were accurate they would still be wrong. If you believe that just because a game has the biggest hype or best review scores every person think it is the best game ever the you are way of. Wich was my point really had you bothered to read it, there of course is a best FOR YOU! There are no best game as in well lets say, the fastest sprinter in the world, the tallest human or whatever, personal taste is not an absolute and we do not all have the same taste.

The hype meter is useless. Its a popularity rating for games that haven't been released yet.
The Census is the opinions of the 70k or so members of this site, who definetely do not form a majority of the mmorpg market.
And from some of the insanely stupid Eq2/WoW threads i've seen, you can't even trust all those opinions expressed here either.

There is no best game ever....yet. It is possible to have/make the best game ever but so far, and pobally forever, no one has the imagination or abilities to make it. Also the best game ever would be like a record in the Olympics its only the best till its beaten so a game would only be the best till its one uped by the next gen. game. Also for those who say it is up to who is playing are wrong, it is a general census throughout the community. Therefore I would say the best game ever is, or was at the time, FFVII because it was almost universally accepted as the best at the time and still is by many.
True FF7 is a milestone and by many considered THE best, allthough I rank it at the top I do not rank it at the very top, best game ever, for me, would be gabriel knight 1, counting all genres.
Point is, again, if only one person disagrees then it is not the best game ever, there is no such thing wich is what I have been trying to say.

Yea just take a look at Driver 3 and you will know how good advertising and marketing get mass hype and sales. They ruined the game and it just simply sucks and I won't go into all the details as to why if you own the game it is quite evident. The ratings here are hogwash as well and you cannot surmise that just because a game sits on top of the rating list means it is the best game. It's like asking 100 people what their best pizza is. Some will tell you pepperoni, some cheese only, 20 other variations and some will say they don't like pizza at all. Does that make them all wrong or right?
We as individuals seem to have a need to impress our ideas and beliefs upon all who cross our path. The roman catholic church has done this for centuries as well and look what they got, destroyed the library of Alexandria, mass murdered innocent people and not to mention the farce it has become today. This of course is just an example of my opinion matters more than gold and you better just agree with me attitude. The best game for you is the one you are currently playing and having the most fun with. Who gives a rat's ass if anyone likes the damn thing or not as long as you do.

Of course there is a best game. Even though people can have slightly different ways in which they best enjoy a mmorpg there is no reason why 1 game cannot satisfy all of them.
There are ways to make a game better and ways to make a game worse, therefore it follows that games can be better than others, therefore it follows that there is a best game. lol...
nothing amuses me more than when people assert faulty ideas like they knew what they were talking about and add to them "believing otherwise is not smart" If you knew what you were talking about you wouldn't have to resort to trying to call people stupid who knew better to try and badger them into agreeing with you.

There is no best game foos.... whats the best book ever written? The best movie ever made? Yea the critics probably pick out one but thats cus its their job to. In the end its all just opinions and personal preference. Citizen Kane gets #1 movie of all time all over the place but i thought it was kinda boring, because i like explosions and boobs and they didn't have any.
Read his initial posts on the subject, he's venting cause EVERY couple days someone makes a post asking what is the best game ever that becomes a 5 page argument on people debating opinions. And the people who use the forums regularly here are getting sick of seeing the same shit posted over and over... He was hoping it would get turned into a sticky so noobs on this site would read here first and not keep asking the same questions. Although a nice theory, it unfortuanlty still wouldn't work since there is a sticky listing all the free MMO's and none of the noobs seem to read it anyways and always end up posting and asking for a list of free games or which is the best free game ect..
Now CPt. Freakin Obvious and I thank you for your comments, but pls try to find out why someone posts something before flaming them in the future.
