    Here is the "story";
I play a MALE dwarf on a RP server, and I was roleplaying in the prancing pony. Talking and bragging about the enormous warg I had just killed, nothing wrong here, right? Jesus no. A MALE human champion walked up to me and started to chat a bit, so I did my "I killed a bad-ass warg" story, and he listened and reacted normally, mature, and fun. Then all of a sudden he started to do more smile emotes, and stuff like looking at me from top till toe. Then, in the same mature manner he was talking to me before, he started hitting on me!
There was no /tell afterwards like; Sorry just teasing. Nothing. He continued his roleplaying and walked out the prancing pony.
People roleplay as gay hero's nowadays? WTF?
    Anyway, opinions?-.-

Heh, okay... so I have a few comments about this one!  First of all, HAHAHAH!  That is too awesome.  And hurray for you.  For all of my time on LOTRO, finding people to roleplay along with me has been HORRID.  (Ya ya, I know "Go try <Insert server name here>")

Second, uhm... so let me get this straight, you were in the tavern where there is bound to be a variety of adventurers (Sexual orientations included) and you were bragging of your might and prowess.. trying to "impress" people, and when you uhm, made your impression, you do not like that someone was impressed and went with it?  Not gettin that one.  Sorry.

Whether the person was actually homosexual or not is really irrelevant.  You were role playing, and when someone called you on it, you got scared.  No offense, but maybe RP is not really for you?  WAY back in the days of UO, I was uhm... best known for role playing a Lesbian character (I am male, and my lesbian mate was played by my RL wife) and I ended up with more than a few people who bought into the whole Lesbian thing.  Women thought I was truly a "Man hater" and would rally behind me as a pillar.  And men, being the pigs we are, would try to "Break me" of my lesbian ways.  Either way, it was all in good fun.  In the end, if you are in the game to role play, roll with it.  Don't get yer cod piece in a bunch.  Role Play for the sake of Role Play, and the next time you are hit on by someone who takes the bait you throw out with your lore, uhm, Role Play your way out of the mess you Role Played your way into?

All in all, great fun.  All of you role players out there definitely keep it up.  And everyone who reads this thread, go find this guy (Whether you are male or not) and give him some good "role play" lessons.  (No, don't go cyber with him.  Role Play.  Eeesh, dirty bastiges.)

Thanks for your reply, but I don't think you understand that I'm not being 100% serious. Of course I like variations in roleplaying, but all in all this was a funny/odd experience in a game like lotro! So thats why I made this topic. Gay moves on a dwarf is odd, in my opinion. Never saw legolas hitting on gimli in lotr(or did I??)

It's not like I ACTUALLY felt harrassed. I was being funny. Or I was trying to. But yes, I'm still chocked, and yes roleplaying is something for me. I've done it a long time, but I never experienced gay people hitting on my dwarfs, sorry

Next time I meet him, I'll cut of his willy hit my axe!

Uhm, yeah.  I got it.  Thus the "Role play your way out of the mess you role played your way in to"  I think you missed some of the humor injected in my post.  No biggie.  I thought the story was funny.  Your dwarf was weaving tales to impress, just impressed the wrong target.  I guess the "Lady like" female elf another poster mentioned was not present that day to swoon at your boasts. ;)

I think I got most of it, enjoyed the lesbian bit^^

And yeah, I'm longing for the days a nice big breasted woman will sit on my lap and hear my warg slaying tales. But a'las!

Oh how I long for the days of true role play to return.  I think when a decent game caters to it, it may have my attention a while.  In the meantime, I guess I will settle for the big breasted woman on my lap listening to my tales of heroism.

Your wife/girlfriend actually listens to your mmo story's? Wanna swap?

Listens to them?  She helps me create them!  Like I said, when I RPed my feminist lesbian, she played UO also as my lesbian partner.  Tho not so feminist.  I think she felt she would not be as convincing as a lesbian.  She and I have gamed together quite a while now.  We are always down for some good role play and character immersion.  Especially if it involves some level of pranking or humor. ;)

Sunder is right, I love being ornery in RP!  It was fun playing a lesbian couple with him!  Only a couple of people knew we were a married couple in RL so it was quite a riot watching all the others buy into our act!

However, it was not my favorite RP experience with Sunder!  Back in the days of MUDS, before we played MMO's, we RP'd some rather deadly and feared characters on a MUD where we already had established, nice, helpful characters.  We did not tell anyone that the nasty characters were also ours, and we did not play a couple so that they did not figure it out.  Not a single person caught on, and they even went so far as to complain about our nasty characters to our nice characters!  It was SOOO funny!  I felt we did a great job roleplaying!

I look forward to future RP opportunities with my hubby.  In the mean time I will try to entertain him with my breasts and captivation at his stories. ;)  Speaking of stories, he had a couple great ones after work on New Year's Eve!  LOL!

Hahaha, the old "alt" rp trick huh

Damnit, my girlfriend only plays mario galaxy on the wii

Oh, the Wii is pretty fun, tho lately we have been more into Rock Band on the PS3.  All of it is a miserable replacement for solid RP in an MMO tho.

  • EmberRainEmberRain Member Posts: 73

Do you have a PS3?  Try Rock Band and let your GF sing!  It is a lot of fun!  I thought I would hate singing and vowed not to do it, but one night Sunder handed me the microphone and I figured I would just be silly with it.  To my surprise, the singing was fun!

Let's see... on the Wii, aside from the tennis, we have a good time with Mario Strikers.  I know there are other games we enjoy on both systems but I am drawing a blank atm!  I am at work and it eats my brain away.  heh

OP, your story made me smile.

I'm old school, (and male) so I generally am not comfortable playing female characters in games.  But one time I broke down and created a female character in City of Villains, mostly because you could do such a good job with them.

So I'm out playing the game, using the name Torment of Sin, and join a group.  During our campaign I suddenly start getting tells from one of my group mates, complementing me on my outfit, and how "hot" I look.  I politely say thank you, but this person kept sending more tells about what they'd like to do to me later.

Now, while women will probably tell you this is a common thing in games, what made it strange for me is the other person was playing a female avatar as well.

So, was I being hit on by a gay woman? Or a male playing woman, who wanted to meet a girl, or a guy? Or just someone doing some extreme roleplaying?

It was all terribly confusing and although I politely dismissed the other person's advances I decided to stick with male avatars from then on. (esp since that person stalked my character for a week or so)

One other interesting gender experience I had was when COH came out. I created my first male character, and thought I'd done a terrific job outfitting him in a great crimson/white outfit.

Unfortunately, on most monitors the crimson came across as bright pink.  Within just a few minutes of entering the game world for the first time I received a private tell saying "WOW, is that ever a gay looking outfit."  I dismissed the person as a cretin however just a few levels later I was fighting some mobs and some guy came around the corner and started emote laughing at me and asked me if I knew how gay I looked.

I deleted that character and promptly made one in a nice dark blue outift.

Although, maybe I should have just named the first one "The Pink Flamer" and run with it?

edit// I did not actually feel harrassed, I only thought it was very funny and odd. So no more comments like; "Roleplaying isnt for you" anymore please

The guy was probably a 45 year old man, and was hoping you were an 11 year old kid...yeah MMO's draw some sick shits. I could  write a book on the things I saw when I was a GM....like the Dad in Idaho that was pimping out his two kids for  RM.  You would not believe the money that publishers expend to keep this stuff quiet.

Hahaha!  That is hilarious.  I think it is great how hung up people get on appearances.  I have seen people turn down armor in games that was great upgrades to what they wore simply because of how it made them look.  I recall back in Everquest 1, we talked a friend of ours into coming to game with us.  They had just adde some new equipment pack or some such that you could turn on "New graphic models" to armor, and while some armor we gave our friend had a crisp black platemail look to it in its original armor, when turning on the new model he had a glittery gold, form fitting chainmail/spandex appearance from head to toe.  He promptly took it off in protest (And from a bit of jeering)  Personally, I have had my avatars outfitted in a rainbow array of colours to my armaments, whatever worked best for each wear location (Or where stats were not available, or in the case of role play) whatever "fit the character" but I always get a chuckle out of people being opposed to upgrades based on appearances.  EmberRain included in that!

Oh my, suddenly this thread went from funny and lighthearted to completely creepy.

    So uhm, yeah.... pie anyone???

  • ChrysosChrysos Member Posts: 77

I could be wrong here but don't female dwarfs have beards?  Maybe it was an honest mistake.  I'll leave the whole 'why a human would hit on a female dwarf' question to your own imagination.

I support Belgiums efforts to get noticed ... at all.

Hahaha, yeah I am one of those that would rather not look like an idiot!  However, I believe it was you, Sunder, that once said something about fashion being second only to something or other.  You know my memory sucks when it comes to detail, but I am sure you remember! :P

I was going to post the story about the bumblebee armor but you beat me to it!

Neener neener.  I am a faster typist than you are.  You should be more concerned with baking pies and stuff anyway.

As a role player you should have forseen the mental inferiority of this warrior. I guess next time you will we a little bit smarter and play him before he gets aggressive.

Unless of course he was a mentally inferior dwarf who was compensating for something or another with his haughty bravado?

    /rp on

Illius staggers through the door of the Prancing Pony feeling rather bloated and very full.  His mouth stained with Sunder's leftover pie.

    /rp off

    So what'd I miss?

I figured this whole pie thing died with the old thread.  I guess I was wrong.

In regards to the whole female dwarf with a beard thing, I'm gonna quote that dwarf from that B movie Dungeons and Dragons where he says "the beard gives you something to hold on to".

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

What?!  How could something about Pie die down in such a brief stint of time?  Pie is kinda like Chuck Norris.  Just when you think the fad has made its rounds and everyone has gotten over it, a new wave of gamers comes along and needs schooling in the ways of the world and there is a new surge of life breathed into it.  That aside, Pie is King!

As for female dwarves with beards... I imagine it depends on whose lore you are a follower of.  By some, female dwarves do not even exist.  Some, they have beards, and some they are just super ugly and easily confused with the men. (Maybe that was the case for the OP here?) But in our world of fantasy where women are supposed to be the fairer sex, there will of course be the sect holding fast to all females needing to have some form of redeeming "beauty" regardless of race.  Looking back at the female dwarves of WoW, I think the best I could say of most (Not all!) of them was they sure did have purty mouths.

Since the male and female dwarves look and sound the same according to the lore, any dwarf you see in LOTRO can be male or female.

I have grouped with real life females playing dwarves in game although they had female sounding names.
