I cant decide which to get when they come out, so which game are you getting and why.

You will get fairly biased answers here.

For me, there is no choice but WAR, as the other two games do not appeal to me in the least. AoC has done nothing to impress me in any of their videos (combat looks slow and clunky), and NCSoft has yet to make a game I have found fun. Aion looks like it will be full of emo kids pretending to be demons and angels, which is a big turn off. I also do not like Asian MMOG design philosophies, and I have not seen any evidence that Aion will stray too far from Lineage-like concepts.

WAR is looking like it will have some awesome, immersing RvR combat which is exactly what I am craving right now.

  • I haven't a bloody clue...I just hope one of em manages to satisfy me. If not then i think i'm done with MMOs...

    WAR for me.

AoC looks like it'll be a mixture of everything thats already came out rolled up into one with a Adult or mature rating slapped on it.

Never heard of Aion so therefore it must not be THAT special.

I love mythics  DAOC so im pretty sure ill like WAR. As far as im concerned  Mythic mkaes the best MMO's.

Aion will be THE best. I'm going to get Aion for sure. Best graphics u can find, new horizontal map, beautiful views and super cool looking combat system.

Well scratch Aion, it isn't even one of the big ones coming out.  The only 2 big name MMOs are AoC and WAR.  If you are a former WoW player that is looking for a better more siege based MMO then WAR is your pick.  If you are sick of everything out there, including WoW and want to go with something untried and untested go for AoC.  AoC has a lot of good qualities, but then again so did VSoH and TR, but we all know how they turned out.

Because this is pure opinion I would have to know what you are looking for in an MMO.  I for one loved old UO but also found fun in WoW later on in life.  I've never been into the GW, EVE, CoH ect so AoC and WAR are the only to logical choices for me.  It all depends on what your are looking for....and believe me you aren't the only one trying to decide on which big name to follow.

My advice is wait and see what happens after release with AoC, as it has potential to have flawed combat and bugs.  However, if release goes well it will be a magnificient game.  WAR is almost a guarentee good game because they have followed a lot of the WoW formula with much success, however, WAR will have s significant twist on it that WoW players won't get.  Come open beta you may be able to tell more...

May i add TCoS, Spellborn, The chronicles of spellborn to that list..

It will be very action pact for an MMORPG and the first one to really blend an MMO and an FPS game together ...

I predict a slow start for TCoS... but it could be like a snowball, picking everyone tired of the standard MMO up along the way...... All depends on what they can deliver, but what i have seen is really promissing.

From the choicess you presented me i'd have to choose WAR... if PvP is anywhere near the fun i had in DAoC, then its a winner too. AoC dissapointed me uptill know , the combat still looks clumsy as allready pointed out. Aion, will just be another mindless grind festival, just not my cup of tea.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Yep agree with lord bachus(and not for the 1st time,Seem to agree with him alot on the TCOS offical forums under a different name),TCOS does seem to be the dark horse and could well snowball with a good release.

  • My #1 choice is Warhammer because I was a HUGE fan of DAOC and Mythic has really been going the extra mile to make sure their game is polished. Remember the 2 month downtime in the middle of beta? WAR also seems like it will require skill in the form of communication and teamwork in big RvR scenarios which sounds cool.

I'm gonna say Age of Conan, simply because it's friggen CONAN!!!! Love the setting and style. Loved the Conan movies, and yes I am aware the MMO is not based on the movies hehe. It's all a matter of opinion obviously. Of these 3 games, I think the idea of maniac barbarians, crazy magic witchcraft and giant beasts is the greatest. In fact, for me it's probably the best idea yet for an MMO. I also am a big fan of Warhammer, but to me it seems a little bit like WoW, but that's just my opinion from what I have seen. I have not looked into the WAR MMO game much so I am most likely wrong about it anyway. Please dont be angered by this WAR fans!

Aion is simply beautiful.  Age of Conan has naked breasts.  And WAR is just - WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even though I will be playing WAR I will likely check out the other two and I hope all three games do well and in combination give a good kick to Activision Blizzard.   (I shudder just saying that new name)

2007 certainly didn't present any games that came close to their 800lb gorilla and Activisiion Blizzard could do with a bit of competition for a change.

I'm not certain whether all three games even in combination will be enough to do this but it would be nice.

You should look at The Chronicles of Spellborn and Darkfall. If they can properly implement the gameplay that they are promising these 2 will be incredible MMOs.

  • GodliestGodliest Member Posts: 3,486

There is a slight chance I will play AoC, but it's very slight. Aion I've not checked out so much, but from the little I've seen it seems like it will look good. May give it a chance. WAR I'm pretty much certain I will buy, because I love PvP and everything about WARs PvP seems awesome.

I will sooo play AoC and when war launches i will so play it too...oooh and Wotlk

  • ZoOoOZoOoO Member Posts: 93

i hope the hold open beta just before release, so i can play them all for a little while and decide where to stay, after almost 3  years of GW, i hope to find a new pvp mmo in 2008.

My top of the list would be Aion, follow by Chronicles of Spellborn.

I'll be doing WAR I think. I have never played a korean game I liked. The closest was Lineage II, and I still didn't make it past a couple weeks in beta.

AOC sounds like it will be cool enough...but it just doesn't grab me.

WAR is the place for me, but a lot of that is due to the fact that I loved DAOC, so Mythic gets a lot of credit from me going into this. Hopefully they don't drop the ball.

Or the soap cause these others MMO's could be sneaky.

  • GreenChaosGreenChaos Member Posts: 2,268

You forgot "The Chronicles of Spellborn", this game looks very good.  Personally I plan to buy and tryout AoC, WAR and TCoS.  I will try them all and stick with one.  It looks like TCoS and AoC will come out before WAR so I maybe too into one of them to try WAR.

But without playing any of them, WAR gets my vote.  I love the class variety and the chance to have constant pvp from day one.

Both AoC and TCoS are trying some sort of real-time aiming, which I'm not completely sold on in an RPG.  I would rather have several hotbars filled with skills and have autoaim so I can focus more on strategy, if I want real-time aiming I'll go play a FPS.

AoC seems like the game that supernerds play cause they can't get laid and so when they see a game that has nudity, they jump all over it.

War seems to attract a larger audience like wow but with better gameplay.

Mokill, if you actually knew about Warhammer TT and some of the original art in the books you would see just as much ass and tits hanging out as Conan. As far as Supernerds go I would have to say we all fit that criteria on here or a good 80% of us anyways.

I'm gonna try both games strictly because I had grown up reading both universes lore. Conan has some interesting dynamics I am impressed with and Warhammer does to.

    I will try Aion.

Maybe I will try WAR, at least a year after release, if PvP isn't enforced.  But I doubt I would even bother.  I don't want to see PvP getting better rewards which affect PvE, neither does I want to raid.  I just want to group/solo in PvE.  Seems quite hard for devs to undersrand that point.  So I will repeat it 1 more time.

I want to group/solo in PvE and feels like I miss nothing, group/solo-wise, no ultimate longsword + 9054 of slaying that I could use, no armor of lubrification, nothing that I miss, in what I do.  A PvPer comes to group with me in PvE, all his shiny stuff is equal or subpar to my PvE gear, as he is alien and visiting my gameplay.

Very simple, the best at an activity, has to be peoples doing said activity.  PvP, Raiding, tradeskills are foreign gameplay, they can't, in any form, make me subpar in PvE-groups.  As simple as that.

Apparently, Mythic isn't able to understand that point any better then Sony.

I'll be playing AoC. Aion isn't appealing, and WAR is just the same old shit, different textures, it doesn't have a whole lot to offer, if I wanted to play WoW/EQ I would.

AoC has some stuff that really interests me.

yeah what the hell is Aion? .  Remember Vanguard and how it was hyped up?

WAR is definitely for the orc-loving WoW crowd.
