I play a MALE dwarf on a RP server, and I was roleplaying in the prancing pony. Talking and bragging about the enormous warg I had just killed, nothing wrong here, right? Jesus no. A MALE human champion walked up to me and started to chat a bit, so I did my "I killed a bad-ass warg" story, and he listened and reacted normally, mature, and fun. Then all of a sudden he started to do more smile emotes, and stuff like looking at me from top till toe. Then, in the same mature manner he was talking to me before, he started hitting on me!
There was no /tell afterwards like; Sorry just teasing. Nothing. He continued his roleplaying and walked out the prancing pony.
People roleplay as gay hero's nowadays? WTF?
    Anyway, opinions?-.-

edit// I did not actually feel harrassed, I only thought it was very funny and odd. So no more comments like; "Roleplaying isnt for you" anymore please

Get over it.  Some folks are jerks.  Learn to use ignore.  But PLEASE, don't stop role-playing.

    Dear Kon,

I write this since I am a gay MMO player and roleplayer. I can understand such a thing can be irritating for a straight male. I personally would never start flirting with another male character unless I knew him, so it is kinda odd. Still, it is the habit of MANY straight men to approach women, both in games and RL in exactly the same way. You never know if the women likes you, or maybe she doesnt like men at all. Still, most men do it and find it natural. I think we all should be mindful not to force ourselves unto others, no matter if gay or straight. But why mind? Take it as a compliment, as I would take it if a woman would be interested in me.

In our society men are used to think of women as objects of desire. So I understand you feel uncomfortable finding yourself in the position ALL women on this earth VERY often are, as the OBJECT of unasked attention. Maybe it gives you a new perspective on life, if you take this opportunity. ^^

Let me relate you a very personal story. Maybe you think about perspectives, which always can boraden our insight. When I was 19 I fell in love with a straight man of my school. I didnt show him or do anything to let him know, simply because I was afraid at that time. But somehow word passed to him, because I had told one or two under secrecy. He just beat me up seriously, for no other reason that I was in love with him. No one could doubt he was straight, he had a girlfriend, and I never had approached him. It was something I never understood, why people can HATE us for being LOVED. I know, you are maybe socialized to thin being gay is gross. Being a social scientist I know how such things happen. But as a human, how love can be HATED is something thats as impossible for me to fathom as whats on the other side of a Black Hole.

Life gives us so many chances to learn, we have but to take the opportunity.

But then... you know in Tolkien Dwarfs males and females BOTH have beards, so maybe he just mistook you for a female, huh? ;)

As to this Prancing Pony pun. LOL you straights really have a  much more kinky fantasy! =P I never thought anything about the name before, lol.

    So what'd I miss?

I figured this whole pie thing died with the old thread.  I guess I was wrong.

In regards to the whole female dwarf with a beard thing, I'm gonna quote that dwarf from that B movie Dungeons and Dragons where he says "the beard gives you something to hold on to".

What?!  How could something about Pie die down in such a brief stint of time?  Pie is kinda like Chuck Norris.  Just when you think the fad has made its rounds and everyone has gotten over it, a new wave of gamers comes along and needs schooling in the ways of the world and there is a new surge of life breathed into it.  That aside, Pie is King!

As for female dwarves with beards... I imagine it depends on whose lore you are a follower of.  By some, female dwarves do not even exist.  Some, they have beards, and some they are just super ugly and easily confused with the men. (Maybe that was the case for the OP here?) But in our world of fantasy where women are supposed to be the fairer sex, there will of course be the sect holding fast to all females needing to have some form of redeeming "beauty" regardless of race.  Looking back at the female dwarves of WoW, I think the best I could say of most (Not all!) of them was they sure did have purty mouths.

Heck.. check out Lineage 2. In their lore, all male dwarves fit the typical stereotype - fat, hairy and somewhat old lookingg. However, the female dwarves all look like 12 year old girls... I do not get it. It's almost as much as mysterty to me as how in an entire village of Smurfs... Smurfette was the only female (that I remember).

Always a bit creepy to me.

I'm old school, (and male) so I generally am not comfortable playing female characters in games.  But one time I broke down and created a female character in City of Villains, mostly because you could do such a good job with them.
So I'm out playing the game, using the name Torment of Sin, and join a group.  During our campaign I suddenly start getting tells from one of my group mates, complementing me on my outfit, and how "hot" I look.  I politely say thank you, but this person kept sending more tells about what they'd like to do to me later.
Now, while women will probably tell you this is a common thing in games, what made it strange for me is the other person was playing a female avatar as well.
So, was I being hit on by a gay woman? Or a male playing woman, who wanted to meet a girl, or a guy? Or just someone doing some extreme roleplaying?
It was all terribly confusing and although I politely dismissed the other person's advances I decided to stick with male avatars from then on. (esp since that person stalked my character for a week or so)
One other interesting gender experience I had was when COH came out. I created my first male character, and thought I'd done a terrific job outfitting him in a great crimson/white outfit.
Unfortunately, on most monitors the crimson came across as bright pink.  Within just a few minutes of entering the game world for the first time I received a private tell saying "WOW, is that ever a gay looking outfit."  I dismissed the person as a cretin however just a few levels later I was fighting some mobs and some guy came around the corner and started emote laughing at me and asked me if I knew how gay I looked.
I deleted that character and promptly made one in a nice dark blue outift.
Although, maybe I should have just named the first one "The Pink Flamer" and run with it?

lol I dont RP but in PvP games I usually try to outfit my toon in pink. Then when comments are made the "pink guy" would kick there arse.....or loose  Regardless its all in how you look at it. I think its funny outfitting a meatshield (tank) in pink and getting beat on or doing it in PvP just to PK morons who think a color defines your sexual preferance.

It always cracks me up when gender issues between RL vs. toons gets in the thick of it all.

In Guild Wars, my wife was playing when some guy came up and in a very RP manner started hitting on her. Then he offered to pay her hard platinum if she would do missions with him in the buff (no armor...and this is GW, so the toons are all wearing skimpy undergarments, too). She decided, what the hell, and made a lot of platinum.

The fun part was, I brought on a female toon, she introduced me as her friend, and he paid me plat to play my toon with him in the "buff" too.

Later, when he started whispering OOC to hit on us both, I explained to him I was a guy. My wife (bless her black little heart) told him she was really a guy, too, and thought this was all fun RPing. The fellow took off like lightning, logged off on the spot!

    Made some good plat. though....

And the moral of the story is, never mix RL with in-game RP. Keep 'em separate, I say!

     Edit: damn typos

LOL! I like your style. I would always dress up in Red and White, and for some reason people started claling me Satan Claus in the guild. Lotta fun.

My husband and I have been known to pass idle time in a game (waiting for raid members to get organized, etc.) by initiating strip poker type activities in town square.  When I say initiate, I mean that the members of our group would use the /random feature to roll a die.  The player who roled the lowest number would have to take off a piece of armor.  We did not recruit for players, but before we knew it we had people asking to join in until we had a huge group in the middle of a busy town dancing around without armour on!  It was all in good fun of course, but speaking for myself I never really cared what gender was behind each toon - it made no difference.  And you may be surprised to know that it never got out of hand.  After the first game we would get random tells from people who joined us, or even have the same people make requests on the public channels for us to start another game!  We would even see others that we did not know calling out for people to join them in a game!  It caught on very fast!  I believe we also hosted a "Sexiest in the Land" competition with prize money, but that is another story!  We always find ways to entertain ourselves during down time!

Well, you know what they say about the Ancient Greek Army.

I'm sure SOME of those guys were short, stout, and hairy.
