Quitting Lineage 2, need new MMORPG...

BigPeelerBigPeeler Member Posts: 1,270

well i think its about time i get out of Lineage 2... up untill a few days ago i was having a great time and had never even considered leaving but then it happened... im not going to get into details but it involves customer support...

anyways im now in the process of looking for a new MMORPG but theres just too many choices out there...

im looking for something with good PvP and at least HALF descent graphics... i dont have a credit card either so it needs either time cards, paybycash, money order or something like that...

no matter where u come from... no matter where u are now... no matter where ur going... its all about the EXP

try daoc(Dark ages of camelot) pretty fun RvR (realm vs realm) action going on there...but be sure you pick the realm you want on the server you chose..you cant repick a diff realm after chosing the first one..this is to prevent you from logging onto 1 char seeing whats going on in a realm then logging onto an other and telling your realm whats going on..over all tho i find daoc to be a very fun game PvM or RvR...i think you should give it a try think theres a free trial out to...not to sure...but its a very fun game...image

Thank you much for quitting Lineage 2 I don't want to see my fellow human beings continue to be wasting their life with that filth.

ATM i don't even play any MMORPG really waitin on Dark & Light, it looks great.

DAoC like darkesthour said is very good, really can't go too wrong i played that game in two sessions considering going back again.

ya right now my top 3 choices are DAoC, EQ, and CoH...

DAoC has alot of players and supposedly good PvP wise... also the graphics arent too bad...

EQ has the most players when it comes to North American MMORPG's but the graphics seem kind of hurting >=/... not to mention PvP is supposedly pretty weak...

CoH has the best graphics of the 3 and the customization is just crazy, but the no weapons/armor thing is kind of odd o_0... to me 50% of the game is having an uber armor set and crazy looking weapons...

anyways what seems like the best of the 3 to you ppl?

no matter where u come from... no matter where u are now... no matter where ur going... its all about the EXP

You really need an MMORPG that badly??? Why not just wait till WoW,EQ2,DnL,DE,GW comes out and play some good single player games for free (using b-t lol).

a question about DAoC though... i dont like games that you can cap out in a short time... whats the level cap (or skill cap... whatever) in DAoC?... also i can play about 3-4 hours a day and doing so how long do you suppose it would take me to cap out a character in DAoC?

The levelcap is 50.  Well mate it all depends on how you like to play.  If you get yourself powerleveled then it probably won't take long before you cap 50.  If you play for fun and a few hours a day exploring all the areas it should keep you occupied for a couple of months.  Besides I am sure you will want to try out different classes and eventually different realms.  I like DAOC but tastes differ as we all know by now.  By the way, I tried out Everquest last weekend and the graphics aren't state of the art but they aren't that bad.

I hope you make the right choice pal.

I wish you lots of fun adventuring.

    Cheers,

DAOC has better pvp , EQ2 has much more quantity (lvls , items , PvE situations) So in DAOC u could hit cap pritty fast depending on what class (necro u can get 50 in a week) But yeah all depends on what you want. But if you get eq2 with all expansions (which is see is only 29$ now OMG lol) It will keep you busy for a long long time.

i think you mean to say EQ... not EQ2... right?...

anyways ya i saw that... its that "Platinum" thingy with EQ + all expansions for $29 o_0...

LOL oops!! I didnt even notice that. Haha yes i meant original eq ...man..all that talk about eq2 before has made me crazy lol O_o. But honestly it might not be too good of an idea to get eq if you really want pvp , its gunna be frustrateing and hard to find groups on pvp servers. I never played on pvp server when i played eq lol (even though im pritty huge pvp fanatic) the game seemed to have enough that i felt no need for pvping lol.

if you love pvp you have some options:

    -Play Shadowbane (90% GvG)

-Play RvR in DAoC (about lvl 20)

-Play EQ in the special PvP server

If you want a cool game, play Anarchy Online instead

  • BigPeelerBigPeeler Member Posts: 1,270

Anarchy Online eh... how is that anyways?...

the screens look really nice but thats about as far as my knowledge of the game goes...

hows PvP?... what about level caps?... do they take alternative payment options?...

[edit] btw... ShadowBane = out of the question... i just hear too many bad things about that game...

Yeah if your that obssesed with pvp you should definetly try Shadowbane . All those bad reviews from people about the game are idiots lol dont let them scare you. Theres 15-day free trial so you really have nothing to loose and the PvP is SB is really awesome.

    About Anarchy Online............

Theres PvP. You can do in arenas, or participate in tower wars (with the expansion: Notum Wars)

Level cap is 220 i think

If you do get into DAoC, be prepared to get a second account. Buffbots rule rvr

As for the grind, the level cap is 50, but if you plan to pvp, you need to be at least Realm Rank 4 or 5, and you'll need Master Levels and artifacts from Trials of Atlantis, which will tack on a good bit of time.

Yeah, you can rvr without those things, but will be severely lacking compared to others that have the buffbot, the artifacts, MLs and RRs.

A note on realm balance. Albion is waaaaay overpopulated on pretty much every server. Hib is the lowest on most every server, and they're the bastard red headed stepchild of DAoC as well. Mids pretty good, though they have some overpowered classes. So if you want to be a mindless drone in the zerg, and don't care if your realmmates couldn't find their ass with both hands and a map, go Alb. If you want to get the easy win, go Mid. Want to struggle uphill all the time? Go Hib.

Best advice I could give is to save your cash. Go out, get some, do anything besides give these companies more financial justification for slinging cat shit in a box and throwing it on the shelf as a game.

I swallowed all our sorrow in the midst of my disease.
All my fortunes, all my gains, all the battles I have won...
Now collapsing like the rain, I stand alone, your only son...

Take some solace in these words, take notice of this place.
Hollow whispers that they are, like the wind upon my face.
Sing softly in my ear and look at me with wonder.
I will try to ease your fear as the darkness pulls you under.

Shadowbane is really fun, I was in Lords of Death on death server for a while, till we conquered the damn server. LOD was awesome, huge battles, everyone vs. us it was some great times.

After a while they took down death and everyone went to Vengeance.

If you want a sweet PVP game, that is all about Guild vs. Guild id suggest you try Shadowbane, it is really a fun game if you get into it. What makes it easier to play is the game isn't really evolving around armor, gear is really easy to get. Its how you make your character and the template you use to make that specific character. Id suggest looking up on forums about good templates for differnt types of classes.

Shadowbane is fun try it and join Vengeance server (Best PVP in the game).

okay so... so far these are the games that im interested in... also i have a few questions for each one for anybody who has played them...

AO - is a credit card needed? how populated are the servers and how many are there? hows the PvP?

EQ - how long would it take to cap out with 3-4 hours a day?

CoH - is the game really as shallow as they say? whats the level cap? how populated are the servers?

DAoC - is credit card needed? what would i have to buy to have the most up-to-date version of the game?

no matter where u come from... no matter where u are now... no matter where ur going... its all about the EXP

For EQ.   Depending on what class you play , anywhere from 1-4 months and how good of a player you are.
