I play WoW, haters go to hell

As the title says, I play WoW. I enjoy it a lot. And yet I can't seem to come to these forums, or almost any game forums, without seeing numerous posts talking about the "death of WoW" or how WoW sucks, and all this

So while it's been said before, I'll say it again. If you don't like WoW, then  We don't want to hear your bitching. Just because you can't find that awesome sandbox MMO that you dream SWG could have been doesn't mean that people want to hear you complain about how much WoW sucks.

With 9 million plus ACTIVE subscriptions, none of us players care what you have to say. Our numbers speak for the game just fine. Maybe we'll all be playing something else in a few years, but only time will tell.

After 4 years, and many failed MMO releases, WoW is still the king

WoW is not the only mmog out there and not everyone has to like it. Not even if it released big numbers quite a while ago.

WoW, despite all it greatness, fails to appeal to longterm MMO players...the proof...the ranking it has from MMO players on any website.

I don't want to raid or RvR, what does WoW offers me in the endgame?  Utter and total second-citizenship...I can play EQ if I can cope with that, at least I already have a character I know and enjoy and I already knows much about the server, the lore and much more.

WoW wills do to Blizzard what EQ/DAoC did to their respective companies...now a normal company would be happy with such a final result from it established customers...but Blizzard which is used to having a worshipping ending is in for quite a disappointment, as they now have...many...HATERS!  And, for repeating these endgames mistakes which give a sour taste, Blizzard deserve these haters, completely.

If you don't like WoW, that' fine. But no one wants to read more of these posts that I see constantly predicting the end of WoW or generally attacking the game.

There's no "proof" of anything about a lack of long term appeal. I know people who have been playing since day 1 and still love it.

I can't believe a forum moderator actually edited my original OP. That's cute. Really cute.

It's no wonder this game can't maintain a high ranking on this site. Even the moderators are against it.

I don't create these threads.  You however do.

And you seems to think that because you like a game, then nobody has the right to tell you that the game is bad.  WoW is about 5-10 years behind innovative MMOs.  You are playing the game I was playing in 1999 (EverQuest).  You are happy with that, good for you.  I evolve and play much better and funnier MMOs.

Longterm players would refer to peoples already playing MMOs, way before WoW was even created or in the design room.  WoW has very little of these.

I hope you are happy to be equipped with subpar gear...or to raid/RvR in order to advance, cause this is all WoW is about.

I'm not the one making that claim. Blizzard is making that claim, in both their advertising campaigns and to their stock holders.

I don't know how many people aren't playing WoW, but can you name ONE MMO that even comes close to WoW's numbers? Or even comes close to one million subscribers?

I'm just so sick of hearing about how aweful WoW is, and yet it's by far the most popular MMO to ever be released.

That's not what I think in fact. You can tell me a game is bad all you want, but after years of hearing the same old trolling nonsense about how bad WoW is, it's time to stop and move on. Your petty insults mean nothing to me. You play "better" and "funnier" MMOs? Good for you. Have a cookie. Go play them and leave those of us who play WoW alone.

You can't tell me what makes me happy, or what I enjoy no matter how much you want to. I know haters like you would love to bring down the big bad WoW, but you and all the so called next-gen MMOs have failed miserably. WoW gained a million subscribers over the last year despite all the new MMOs.

The hate I see here is actually pretty funny.

WoW was fun for a few years.  I do enjoy raiding, and I think I'll happily raid in AoC, I'm done with WOW raiding though.  I think the problem most people have with it is that its streamlining MMORPG design into WOW clones with the occasional rare breakaway.

Of course whose to say MMORPG design would be different without WoW?  Probably just less quick cash ins that turn into giant failures.

I think that's what most WoW players are doing. I just come here in the 15-20 minutes before I go to sleep at night while I wait for my wife to get ready for bed to see what people are bitching about.

I agree that people dissing WoW is getting really boring to see and its all been said millions of times and it sucks, but, what about all the people who diss games because its a "WoW lookalike " a "WoW clone" or just "WoW shits all over this game and i have nothing else to say so suck on dat!". I'm getting really tired of seeing it and it is literally everywhere. I dont think i have opened a game thread on this site where someone has not said something about how WoW has something over the game. There's my little whinge for the day.

    Peace, devoux

Good, cause if we can extrapolate the hate Sony receive and apply it to Blizzard with it scales and amount of players, you will realize that the amount of haters is not going to lower...it is about to enflame.

Telling the haters to go to hell will only aggravate it.  I don't like hating WoW, you are rather funny.  In fact, I am not even a "WoW hater", but seeing how aggresive you are, I have to come and talk.  WoW isn,t holy, it isn't a way of life...it isn't even progressing, but it is regressing and the devs knows it even if you buy their propaganda all willingly.

i only dislike wow for 1 reason it forces players to join a endgame raiding guild to advance

guilds dont make players leet, playstyle does and its shouldnt reward noobs with a guild over core pvpers.

my point is they reward players for chatting and making friends or maybe enemies well beeing in a guild

    love ot hate it.

people who got a guild and play 4 hours a week advance faster then someone with out a guild who plays 15 hours a day when they are both max lvl sure the one who does nothing but play will be max lvl within a week or 2.

  • BroomyBroomy Member UncommonPosts: 487

I recently returned to WOW and am having a blast.  Played: EQ2, Tabula Rasa, LOTRO, and host of other games/trials.  Got to max level in most as well, so I got to see the games in depth.  Sad to say they were either trying to be WOW or be "innovating" (and failing miserably at it. )

WOW has alot to do in it and alot of ways to play in it.   And I think thats the key to it.  Its not that its such an incredible game....It simply allows for many different playstyles, thereby attracting alot more gamers of all types.  Most other games of the past simply did not do that and most games of today dont either.   So couple the ability to blend different types of gameplay (casual to hardcore raiding) with easy system requirements and colorful graphics and there you have it.  So why didnt anyone think of this before Blizzard did?   Its not rocket science.

    Current Games: WOW, EVE Online

I am not saying Ruffer is a hater, and wouldn't imply it in anyway either for future or whatever.

But his experience is what is brooming haters...REAL haters.  And Blizzard/fanbois are merely starting to taste it; just as Sony was merely starting to taste it in 2003.  And his experience is about PvPers, but what about peoples who just like to group in PvE?  :P

Now, about the "subscribers", let me exagerate just to show my point about the sillyness of the 9 millions.  If every Blizzard employee is granted 1000 accounts freely, does this count as subscribers?  By reading their definition, it definitely does, they work for Blizzard in order to obtain these accounts.  Now, maybe they can't even use these.  See, it is easy to play with numbers and everything.  In Canada, it used to say "BOX SOLD", and the numbers was the same as the US customers reads for "subscribers"; now they change this...but still...don't you get my point by now?

I'd say this is more reliable than Blizzard's claim of 9m subscribers.

You'll notice a high concentration of hunters and since every hunter is a bot...

I love this one, they never actually passed the 9m.

No one hates WoW, they hate the players.

If the players did not give the game such a bad image no one would care about the downfall of WoW.

WoW's reputation has gone hell, and (for most) the game's demise now symbolizes a new beginning in the MMO community.

I was just wondering what MMO you are actually playing right now that is better and more fun then WOW?  I am not being sarcastic I really am trying to find a new MMO to play.

As for the op, I do not hate WOW, in fact I just recently reactivated my account for the 10day trial to see the new well now year old BC expansion.  After taking an almost 2yr break I'm enjoying the game once more.  I did however create a new character to try the new areas out and I'm enjoying it thus far.

However like another person mentioned, it's the endgame raiding that I don't like and the reason being is I cannot sit at my computer for hours on end to do these raids, and you do need HOURS OF TIME to do them.  Because of my disability I'm not able to sit here for hours, so when I hit 60 in WOW I was totally disappointed because I had nothing else to do besides PVP and I am not a fan of that mindset either.  So yes I did the logical thing and moved on to a new game but again I found that they did the same thing and made it so endgame was group oriented raiding.  So annoying.

So if anyone out there has any good ideas for MMO's that don't require the endless raiding please let me know.  I am awaiting AOC but who knows when that will be out, and I refuse to try Vanguard because SOE will never get another penny of my money.  Yes I'm an SWG vet, don't hate me lol. I don't whine here I just refuse to give them my money.

Again to the Op, I don't blame you for getting annoyed with all the hating, but that's going to happen.  One game can't please everyone, and some people aren't happy unless they are making others miserable.  Just ignore the haters and play on.  There's nothing wrong with enjoying WOW, it's your hard earned money you decide how you're going to spend it.  Bottomline.

though WoW is a great game and it does have many many haters i am glad to see Blizz actually trying to fix endgame (though 1-60 needs a huge revamp before anything in endgame).  they now see that shorter instances and smaller groups are better for most of the population.  raids have dropped from 40 mans to 20-25.  instances are much shorter (many are between 1 and 2 hours long) and they are packing more into a smaller space (making for more action).  a good example of them getting it wrong is ZG.  quite a distance between boss and mob fights and really wasnt that exciting.  an example of them getting it right is the mana tombs group of instances.  they are short and sweet and fairly linear meaning no wasted time looking for the next boss.   i hope the new expansion brings in more good instances and revives the dream of raiding for many who simply didn't have the time or could not get the gear to net a spot.
