Any reconciliation with SOE STARTS with classic servers or a rollback, not with us resubbing and pleading with them again. We tried THAT, it didn't work, all we did was waste time and money fighting from within all the while SOE ignored us and took the important issues off the table. We aren't going back to beg, they need to come to US and beg.
They need our money at this point a LOT more than we need them.
Like all the others said already NO we wont resubb and change it from within. I wrote a 10 page email after the CU, i wrote a 15 page email after the NGE announcment. i made countless constructive forum posts to convince them that their doing is wrong.

And you really think that people who got burned by the NGE coming back will save it? Just let it die so we can get a real Star Wars mmorpg.

Sorry for the caps, but I have to say, I never thought I would reach 1K posts on the official forums in a million years. In the days up to the CU I was patient, following, I was all over the official forums calling for a rollback, or more time to get it right. Eventually, most people subsided, or left, but the community was still going pretty strong. A lot of people left for EQ2 or WoW at that point. The game recovered, after all, they hadn't taken away everything.

There wasn't a SINGLE person on the official forums minus the (brawler?) corr who thought it was a good idea, and we stated so loudly on the official forums and elsewhere when that was no longer an option. SOE simply *never* listened to a word we said. Couple that with the ToOW expansion ripoff? I don't blame anyone for never wanting to play it again, and the argument of "changing from within" just doesn't hold water. It can't be done. They never listen...

Let it die. There is nothing that can be done to save the NGE anyway. Really the fanboi's ONLY chance of still having the NGE to play a year from now is for there to be a resurgance because of classic servers.
We aren't coming back otherwise. In fact, I probably wouldn't go back for classic servers alone. I need to see some heads roll too.

You've hit the nail on the head, but for me heads rolling are not enough. Control of the game needs to be removed from SOE, and given to a reliable company, one that listens to it's players and will advance the game only when the players call for it, not when they believe it is what we want.

I certianly don't like to call someone a fanboi as I find terms like that to be simply derogatory and hurled about as an insult.
However, many of the posters here care about the game and see the NGE as a) a mistake and b) as an intentional slight against paying customers.
I'm happy to see people stand up against this kind of ignominy, as I find the conduct by which the NGE was thrust upon us as a dishonorable and shameful practice.
It is my sincerest wish that people who currently support this product take that stand as well least it happen to them too.
It wouldn't matter if we came back most vets couldnt talk to $oe anyway as all of our forum accounts have been perma banned for telling the truth or asking legit questions

Well if ther'e's one thing creating this thread has made me realize is that most Vets have have been polite and very straight and to the point with their response's to my post,and for that I have gained alot of respect for you guys ( apart from the being called Fanboi tho ) I will probably stick around with SWG till the end especially as it part of my station pass, and yeah I'm not sure I would resub for SWG on its own at the moment ,
I live in hope now anyway and maybe at some point we will all be playing the game we all love /or loved in the we as individuals want to play it................ you never know it might just happen

Well put Dalev1l also to Summintus, we the vets did make the first move. We left in droves! You would think that after about 2/3rds or more of your playerbase leaving, within 6 months or less, SOE would have at the very least immediately have made classic Pre-cu servers to at least stop the loss of customers. I mean it makes perfect buisness sense!

First of all, I truly appreciate the respectful tone of your suggestion. I've often felt and expressed that disagreement can be open and yet respectful, even when heated at times. You've increased my faith in that theory with this post.
Regarding the suggestion itself, I think it's relevant to point out that for six months into the NGE, and then for another 2 months more recently (probably about a year ago now I think) I attempted to put your suggestion into action.
I maintained my subscription into the NGE partly to answer John Smedley's request for veteran feedback in the aftermath of the NGE exodus. He asked what could be done to address players concerns, and he pled for patience and understanding.
I responded by thoroughly and respectfully highlighting a number of ways the NGE specifically impacted the functionality and quality of gameplay. I made a number of suggestions regarding how players concerns could be addressed. I attempted to highlight a range of options from rollback, to classic servers, to fixing broken mechanics, restoring access to pets and restoring game features that were widely popular.
The response I got from SOE, I'm sorry to say (truly) was the final nudge out the door for me. My posts were locked, deleted, moved to obscurity, and on one occasion for reasons that were never communicated to me, I was temporarily banned from the forums.
The response I received from the few players that were enjoying the NGE and probably felt that my feedback was somehow a threat to their enjoyment was also very negative. I was told to shut up, stop whining, get over it, enjoy it or leave etc.. These responses aren't new. In fact they started right after NGE's release, and they persist to this day.
So I tried for an 8 month period, spread over the course of a year or more to promote change from within. I experienced a lot of nasty things during those months with not a lot of progress to show for it. So, while I understand your suggestion, and appreciate the tone of it, I'm afraid I'm going to pass on what was for me a frustrating and painful endeavor.
What I"ve decided to do instead is periodically observe or learn about the state of the game, and attempt to hold SOE accountable in the court of public opinion to deal ethically and competently with fellow gamers and consumers. If SOE deals ethically and competently with consumers, there won't be anything in my posts that they should feel threatened by.

I love dipping in now and then creating new characters and generally having fun. I do know how much it hurts all the Vets that want the old game back because I would myself I've sort of accepted what happened pretty much tho personally. Perhaps I am being a little selfish in my ideas and suggestions, but I just dont want to see a great game die, SWG is one of the most unique experiences ever to be created in the Mmo industry and in its prime totally blew everything else out of the water for sheer immersion and great times.
I really wish the Vets would return tho,and things are changing in the game and if you all came back then there would be no chance it die.

another thought I had was if the Vets could maybe get a Station Pass and play some of the other games like EQ and EQ 2, Pirates of the Burning Sea, Vanguard and Matrix then maybe you guys would'nt feel to bad out paying a few Dollars/Pounds for the SWG part of the Subscription I've worked out that to play SWG its only costing less than 3 GBP if you take all games in Station Pass into account ..

I can definitely understand where you're coming from. You seem to enjoy SWG, and you seem invested in it. I think it's safe to say we've all been there. We also didn't want to see our game die, hence all the outcry before, during and after the NGE. We thought that if SOE stuck with its NGE plan, it truly would kill the game, and bring an end to a really amazing experience and community connection with some great people.
Well SOE didn't listen, even to some of its own staff, and the NGE was like a gunshot wound to the head of SWG. Even after this, many of us stuck with SWG and tried to explain to SOE how to stop the wound from bleeding out. We were desperate to be heard, but we were ignored, and worse.
So, I can understand you not wanting to lose something important, we've all been there. Honestly it's for folks like you, and those few friends of mine that still play the game, that I hope somehow SOE can find a way to heal all the damage that was done by the NGE. I've posted some suggestions regarding how they might approach this more effectively, but they seem to handle things in their own unique way.
So, my hope is that SOE works hard to restore some dignity to SWG, or that they allow it to die with dignity so that someone else can run a StarWars MMO properly. "Properly" would be a polished launch, open and honest communication with players, a fun experience and good customer service.
Either way, I do hope that you get to have an enjoyable, maybe even stress free some day, StarWars MMO experience.

I played from closed beta untill 3 days after NGE,I had 3 accounts with well over 3,000 hours invested in my char's,and it was gone in one day,all but one profession was removed from the game. that left a half of a char..

fishermage it is good to see you back on our side. i remember how you lost it for a few months after the soe fanfair and believed that the game would get better and now you see how soe are liars and thiefs.
How about this, All the Vets wait for SOE to lose SWG. and wait for a SWG2 or a KoToR MMO. and all the remaining NGE players can see whats its like to lose there game. SWG Vet still looking for a new game to call home.

I'm happy to see people stand up against this kind of ignominy, as I find the conduct by which the NGE was thrust upon us as a dishonorable and shameful practice.
It is my sincerest wish that people who currently support this product take that stand as well least it happen to them too.
It would never work...they would say "Hey, look all the vets are returning the NGE is successful!"
It wouldn't matter if we came back most vets couldnt talk to $oe anyway as all of our forum accounts have been perma banned for telling the truth or asking legit questions
I certianly don't like to call someone a fanboi as I find terms like that to be simply derogatory and hurled about as an insult.
However, many of the posters here care about the game and see the NGE as a) a mistake and b) as an intentional slight against paying customers.

Well if ther'e's one thing creating this thread has made me realize is that most Vets have have been polite and very straight and to the point with their response's to my post,and for that I have gained alot of respect for you guys ( apart from the being called Fanboi tho ) I will probably stick around with SWG till the end especially as it part of my station pass, and yeah I'm not sure I would resub for SWG on its own at the moment ,I live in hope now anyway and maybe at some point we will all be playing the game we all love /or loved in the we as individuals want to play it................ you never know it might just happen
I will also continue to email SOE for a classic server too .

Yeah I doubt I'd go back now too, just because if it took them this long to do the right thing, then what's to say they wouldn't just take them down again.. I hear ya on the point that if they had put up a classic server I more than likely would still be there myself, 5 years after I started.
First of all, I truly appreciate the respectful tone of your suggestion. I've often felt and expressed that disagreement can be open and yet respectful, even when heated at times. You've increased my faith in that theory with this post.
Regarding the suggestion itself, I think it's relevant to point out that for six months into the NGE, and then for another 2 months more recently (probably about a year ago now I think) I attempted to put your suggestion into action.
I maintained my subscription into the NGE partly to answer John Smedley's request for veteran feedback in the aftermath of the NGE exodus. He asked what could be done to address players concerns, and he pled for patience and understanding.
I responded by thoroughly and respectfully highlighting a number of ways the NGE specifically impacted the functionality and quality of gameplay. I made a number of suggestions regarding how players concerns could be addressed. I attempted to highlight a range of options from rollback, to classic servers, to fixing broken mechanics, restoring access to pets and restoring game features that were widely popular.
The response I got from SOE, I'm sorry to say (truly) was the final nudge out the door for me. My posts were locked, deleted, moved to obscurity, and on one occasion for reasons that were never communicated to me, I was temporarily banned from the forums.
The response I received from the few players that were enjoying the NGE and probably felt that my feedback was somehow a threat to their enjoyment was also very negative. I was told to shut up, stop whining, get over it, enjoy it or leave etc.. These responses aren't new. In fact they started right after NGE's release, and they persist to this day.
So I tried for an 8 month period, spread over the course of a year or more to promote change from within. I experienced a lot of nasty things during those months with not a lot of progress to show for it. So, while I understand your suggestion, and appreciate the tone of it, I'm afraid I'm going to pass on what was for me a frustrating and painful endeavor.
What I"ve decided to do instead is periodically observe or learn about the state of the game, and attempt to hold SOE accountable in the court of public opinion to deal ethically and competently with fellow gamers and consumers. If SOE deals ethically and competently with consumers, there won't be anything in my posts that they should feel threatened by.
Thankyou for such a nice responce to my post , I guess the heart of the matter if I'm honest is that I dont want to see SWG die, I have liked this game from the begining,and did'nt care much for NGE either but I made the decision to keep playing.I love dipping in now and then creating new characters and generally having fun. I do know how much it hurts all the Vets that want the old game back because I would myself I've sort of accepted what happened pretty much tho personally. Perhaps I am being a little selfish in my ideas and suggestions, but I just dont want to see a great game die, SWG is one of the most unique experiences ever to be created in the Mmo industry and in its prime totally blew everything else out of the water for sheer immersion and great times.
I really wish the Vets would return tho,and things are changing in the game and if you all came back then there would be no chance it die.
oh well back to the drawing board ....
another thought I had was if the Vets could maybe get a Station Pass and play some of the other games like EQ and EQ 2, Pirates of the Burning Sea, Vanguard and Matrix then maybe you guys would'nt feel to bad out paying a few Dollars/Pounds for the SWG part of the Subscription I've worked out that to play SWG its only costing less than 3 GBP if you take all games in Station Pass into account ..

I can definitely understand where you're coming from. You seem to enjoy SWG, and you seem invested in it. I think it's safe to say we've all been there. We also didn't want to see our game die, hence all the outcry before, during and after the NGE. We thought that if SOE stuck with its NGE plan, it truly would kill the game, and bring an end to a really amazing experience and community connection with some great people.Well SOE didn't listen, even to some of its own staff, and the NGE was like a gunshot wound to the head of SWG. Even after this, many of us stuck with SWG and tried to explain to SOE how to stop the wound from bleeding out. We were desperate to be heard, but we were ignored, and worse.
So, I can understand you not wanting to lose something important, we've all been there. Honestly it's for folks like you, and those few friends of mine that still play the game, that I hope somehow SOE can find a way to heal all the damage that was done by the NGE. I've posted some suggestions regarding how they might approach this more effectively, but they seem to handle things in their own unique way.
So, my hope is that SOE works hard to restore some dignity to SWG, or that they allow it to die with dignity so that someone else can run a StarWars MMO properly. "Properly" would be a polished launch, open and honest communication with players, a fun experience and good customer service.
Either way, I do hope that you get to have an enjoyable, maybe even stress free some day, StarWars MMO experience.

No matter what, SOE will never go back to the older, Pre-NGE systems. That's a huge problem to me, since the Sandbox / Template System was great.
SOE may include features of the Pre-NGE systems all they want. But the rotten core will always be there: The NGE. And it will never be anywhere like Pre-CU or even CU system, no matter how they try to decorate the NGE with minor aspects of the previous systems.

And they've been doing that for 2+ years. And they continue to lose overall subscribers and the servers are emptier now than ever.
The classic definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. Maybe that is the solution, we need to send the padded wagons and the guys with butterfly nets over there to take them into custody.

I played from closed beta untill 3 days after NGE,I had 3 accounts with well over 3,000 hours invested in my char's,and it was gone in one day,all but one profession was removed from the game. that left a half of a char..
Go back ??..I did a few times..It's not the game i bought,and from what SOE says,it never will be.

fishermage it is good to see you back on our side. i remember how you lost it for a few months after the soe fanfair and believed that the game would get better and now you see how soe are liars and thiefs.
How about this, All the Vets wait for SOE to lose SWG. and wait for a SWG2 or a KoToR MMO. and all the remaining NGE players can see whats its like to lose there game. SWG Vet still looking for a new game to call home.
