Morrowind, Daggerfall, Zelda...Grand Theft Auto 3? Which game you'd like as MMORPG?

I have been asked about this topic before and the first question was "Would an online version of Morrowind work?"

Yes I belive that morrowind online would work. Of course the game would have to go through some changes to accommodate large amounts of players. Conversations between players would be essential and the XBOX with its communicator covers this feat easily.

But the ability to let players shape and change the world around you would be the ruling aspect of morrowind online. Player made Guilds, Forts, Towns, Shops, and Houses would take the solid landscape of morrowind and create it into an ever changing varying world.

But I think that the servers should not just be different variations of the continent or morrowind but all the other lands told of in the game. For Example: The Black Marshes, High Rock, Summerset, Cyrodiil, Elsweyr, Skyrim, Dragontail Mountains, Hammerfell, Valenwood. This would make the game one whole world and not a mass of similar servers.

I think that Morrowind is an excellent game and anyone who likes games set in midevial fantasy worlds would be hooked by this game. Ive had the game for over a year now and it just now started to get a little repetitive. But the first time around is just like being born a second time!

This game is very dependant on interaction with NPCs and just turning those NPCs into living breathing individuals would just make the game truly remarkable and KICK City of Heroes off the Charts.

Can somebody agree with me here?

I have to agree with Ramadin on this one. Particularly the Fallout MMO. I'm pretty tired of rehashed fantasy games, but a well done post-apocalyptic scifi game. mmmm. Closest we'll get anytime soon is that Car Wars game from whoever made Jumpgate.

Well, I dont think GTA3 is all that great.  Yeah it's fun for kicks and laugh but that is about it.  It's just something good on the side for when ur bored or you want to blow something up or go on a rampage. But i dont see it really going anywhere.  And for Morrowind??? comeon they are making a D&D MMO already, so its gonna be out there, might not be the same but close enough...  But I also have to say Morrowind is kinda boring...

GTA3/Vice City was funny the first time or two I beat down some hooker, or ran someone down, but after about 5 minutes, it was just another boring racing game.

Morrowind's problem wasn't so much that it was boring as it was the constant pausing, even on my computer, which is way beyond the listed requirements. Also, I thought it was too open ended. I'm all for nonlinear gameplay, but just plunking you down in a world and saying 'here you go' is only fun for so long. Maybe it picks up later on in the game, but I've yet to get that far.

Well I just read the topic, and I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet..but I would GO BESERK if someone decided to make a Naruto (anime ninja show) MMO game. They have made a few fighter games like street fighter based on the narutp series in japan already.

I would just love to start off in one of the ninja villages of choice as depicted in the show, each with their own specialized teachings in no justu techniques (ninja spells). You would start off as a young genin (lowest lvl of ninja I believe) and work your way to jounin (highest rank ninja other than hokage) by completing different teachings under a teacher, completing ninja quests given by your home town, and setting out on your own adventure outside of your villiage.

All the villiages would start off at peace and eventually start war with eachother creating a chain reaction through all of the factions. This would engage PvP. Whenever someone from another villiage crossed paths, you would have to keep on your toes and ready yourself for a ninja battle.

The battle system would have to be intense and fast paced. I was thinking of it playing like starwars: jedi knight if I had to compare to the closest thing out there except when using the force it would be like using your no jitsu techniques. Weapons would range from nothing to everything as it is in the show. There are ninjas that use anything from bugs that live in their body and feed off chakra (energy inside people that is released when seals in the hands of a ninja are made in order to release it in different ways) to ninjas that use puppets controlled by chakra in the hands and released along the strings to the puppet. Shurukins (throwing stars) will also be vitle in combat as they are a way of taking down ranged apponents or spraying everywhere to give you some space. Of course, flips, jumping, speed are very important and would have their own upgrade systems.

I would like to focus lvl ups around distrabution to chakra, chakra use, forming of seals, strength, indurence, mind, defence, stealth. Then a certain amount of skill points will be awarded for use under training in new techniques from higher ranked ninjas. You will be able to learn any skill by training for it without the use of skill points but in order to make them truly powerful, you will have to use more skill points in order to train harder toward that skill.

There are so many cool things in the naruto series that would make a great MMO game but I just want to stop here as I know most of you don't care or just feel like skipping long posts like this. If anyone would like to discuss this game more I would love to talk about it as I am leaning towards joining the game design industry. This is what I love to talk about.

Two MMO games I'd like to see would be one based on Grand Theft Auto, and one based on Deus Ex.

GTA Online: Just imagine the possibilities...being able to lead or join gangs, have npc-based factions to gain or lose respect with, and plenty of npc or even player made missions (in gangs) to do. A player, while not bound to any certain class, will likely find a role to fill that he/she enjoys (at least for a while), whether that be pizza delivery, hired hitman, ambulance driver (would be really nice if dying requires a person to wait for an ambulance to take them to the hospital, whether npc or player.. reward players by distance between where they are, victim, and hospital), or vigilante cop wannabe. Police wanted levels would be similar to other GTA games, with the exception of making it so cops may stop chasing a lower wanted level player to pursue a more wanted criminal (although they'll come back to the lower wanted level player soon enough). Also, vigilante players oculd be assigned missions to take care of higher wanted level players, but if they take out too many bystanders, they can find themselves wanted too. The game would would probably consist of both players, as well as your typical npc players walking or driving around.

DX Online: Again, imagine the possibilities. Base the leveling more on the first DX game, rather than the second (the second didn't have skills to level, only biomods): as players complete missions, find secret places, or even as they make successful use of their current skills, they earn skill points to spend to raise levels in skills, such as masteries of different weapon classes, swimming abilities, terminal hacking, lockpicking, etc. Also, biomods and biomod upgrades would be available (although much more rare, except for maybe one or two of the lower level ones being available to start with), thorugh doing certain missions, from raiding rare shipments, finding them in hard-to-get locations, etc. Players could be members of the main factions in the game, or go neutral and poke around to see what's going on. Those who start too much of a disturbance by killing indiscriminately could be dealt with by having high level npc bots and police faction members hunting them.

I would have to say Zelda or Chrono Trigger..

There was actually an attempt at a Zelda Style (Link to the past) MMORPG, but it has since involved into a Pile of Poo. (Not that it was good to begin with) Its called Graal. I would like to see a Zelda MMO with the graphics like OOT or Majoras MAsk (No cell shaded MMO plzkkthx)

I probably already have a post somewhere in this thread saying that I want to see fallout as a 3d fps mmorpg (keeping the special system)

I also want to see Stargate as a MMORPG, but with a totally different design.  I think it would be awesome if it was a X- com Style Turn based strategy game where every player got a base planet where they conducted research and engineering of new technology, and there were many facets to the game.

The ship combat would be like MOO2 (with better graphics) and the ground combat would be like X Com or fallout.  It might be cool as a fps too.

    GTA3

    why?

Cause if I see another freakin Fantasy mmorpg Im gonna puke.  And just think...I used to love fantasy type RPGs....now I cant even bring myself to buy a single player fantasy rpg...

But GTA3 would be somehting new....and would be interesting to see the media outcry on it as it supports gang violence, car jacking, prostitiution, public sex in the favorite car of your choice, drive bys, and working with drug cartels and crooked lawyers.

But you can always do that in real life in Miami I suppose

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

Zelda would be quite interesting to see as a mmorgp, but very unlikely I'd say. It's too story and specific character based to be that good as a mmorpg, if they do not abstract from the base zelda. But sure, I wouldn't mind see a try at it...  image

  • tu_uilwentu_uilwen Member Posts: 794

GTA as a mmorpg would be stupid and pointless......I think out of that list...either chrono...or zelda would be awesome....

see for zelda...youcould sit there....and be different races....

    Human....elf....goron....so on....

and do little-to-big quests and stuff..and i think it would be alot of fun......

but gta would be a stupid mmorpgs..becasue you wold be only a human..that drives and kills people....you can do that single player......

My choice would be Morrowind, no doubt about that.  By far the single player game with the most content and a vibrating world.
