I personally don't vote by party. I've already decided I'm voting for Ron Paul because of his libertarian and constitutional principles - once he's out of it I will probably just vote for an independant as I don't like any of the other "prime" candidates.

I hope so, or this country is screwed. The present entitlement programs are already unfunded. If we throw on Universal Healthcare, the biggest expansion of government ever, we'll be bankrupt completely within a decade or two.

It's preferable to the alternatives. I rather liked hearing one of the news stations refer to a voting group as 'anyone but Hillary'.
Tangent: White People. European Americans refers to someone who has actually come from Europe and is now living in America. Most white people are white people, not European Americans.

If you have a job then you pay a small part of your wage towards the tax of running the country but it's nothing much really specially knowing that your helping out the coutnry and other people who need that money who can't work for it or reserch for cures etc etc. If you don't have a job or are a child then no tax or anything is paid and you will still be looked after and thats great cause it takes alot of time to find a job.

Well it works in alot of countries round the world just fine and the only reason it's not doing as well int he UK as others is because our goverment is a useless mess and waste billions on pointless things like the dome or the olympics instead of focusing on the real issues.

It's really hard to believe someone saying free health care works in other parts of the country. You see, you lose all credibility when you call it "free". Nothing is free. So, if you can't even recognize that, then how would you know that it's working?

I called my doctor Friday morning and made an appointment to see him that same afternoon after work. No problem. I even had a choice of 2 different times to come in. And he's a specialist (dermatologist).Eat that, Euroweenies.
And what did I pay upon leaving you might ask? $15.00 copay. I have insurance. I'm a student and work full-time as well. It can be done. I also get straight A's. I think a lot of people just like to whine about things instead of working to get them done. That and they make some pretty unwise decisions in life and then don't want to take responsibility for them.

I have family in who live in N.Ireland(UK) and I lived in the Irish Republic for several years and none of us NEVER had a problem seeing a doctor. The service was fine and up-to-date with modern facilities comperable to what you see in the US. The only difference is you don't get a bill. Here IS a fact for you to ponder. The US is the ONLY major, industrial nation on the planet who does not have a universal health system. As far as taxes goes, the chump change that the Pentagon wastes be would more than enough to fund a health system that would rival anyone elses. Just carve a little pork from them and we would be in business and no one has to be taxed more.

Just out of curiosity.....how much does YOUR government take out of your taxes? 20? 30? 40 ? 50%? how about your sales tax? Where's that at? 2, 3, 8, 12, 24%?
Here....my sales tax is 4%, I net 2100 dollars every two weeks (my gross is 2650) and I get roughly about 6500 US dollars a back every year on my tax returns.
Trust me, I like my country's medical program just the way it is. When I go to state funded places I see the crap and the low level customer service. If Hillary Care goes through then the hospitals will be like the local Department of Motorized Vehicles; just a bunch of miserable employees who reads scripts off of a computer and treats everyone the same because their is no financial motive in the business anymore.
If you love your high taxes then that's cool. The very reason why my forefathers fought and died for the US was because of the stupid tax system.
The US Tax system is getting as crazy but as long as I have a vote, I wont be contributing anymore to the taxes the US has imposed against their citizens. Hillary Care is just plain stupid and that's why I think Obama is kicking her Nancy Pelosi loving arse.

I never thought I'd agree with gnomexxx on anything, but on this he's dead right. I don't want some government bureaucrat telling me when I can see a doctor and when I can't. We already have federal programs like medicare and medicaid (not to mention numerous state programs) to cover people who can't pay by themselves, government healthcare will ruin the healthcare system in the USA imo.
