So this is about me getting banned.
I bought this game about one year ago and I stopped playing after some time. I resubbed about a week ago and now when I try to log in it says that my account has been banned and that I should contact costumer support for assistance. It doesn't tell me why or for how long the ban will last. I'm guessing it's permanent.
What kind of behavior is this? Are they gonna steal my money like that? The only thing I've done is to level a warden from lvl 14 to ~21. I grouped once during that time. What could I've possibly have done on that short ammount of time that caused them to suspend my account?
I have sent an email to them asking them wth's going on and I'll post the outcome here later...
I'm not really mad that the account is lost because I have no friend that plays EQ2 with me atm but im more mad over the thing they did and how they did it. I haven't recieved 1 spec of dust of information regarding my suspension and they expect me to be satisfied with that? hell no

someone at SOE seem to like me thank you whoever you are

well good luck with SoE's non existant Customer Service
weird that they banned your account without an explanation. hopefully it's just a mistake
Hmm but its not just EQ 2 your bannned on, your screenie shows youve been banned from every game thats included in the station access pass which to me means that it possbly wasnt even something to do with EQ 2 , do you play any of the other station access games and do you share the access with anyone?

The other games were trials (luckily), the most recent was PlanetSide but I didn't play it much. I haven't shared the account with anyone
Doubt you ever get the reason in a standard error message in game or in the subscription web page. Have you checked if you have gotten a mail on your registrated mail? Have you contacted the CS as the message says?
Have you done a call back on you CC before with SoE? That will result in a perm ban on that account and proabably not possible to use that card in any future SoE games.

Leemeg.
yes,I have sent them an email.
Some time ago I bought a month of playtime and instantly cancelled the subscription because I want to control the payment myself. I've done this 2-3 times now. Do they perma ban your account for this?
Did they ban me because I like to control my expenses? That's quite stupid of them and they should've displayed it very clearly so I didn't made those "mistakes"
OH one other thing, theyve been trying to clamp down on gold selling and bought accounts of late, im not saying you have done either but i do know they get mighty suspitious of accounts that continually change there payment details but even at that they would send an email to the account holders address
but anyway please keep us informed i'd just love to here sonys response on this one lol
No, that wasn't what I ment. I ment if you had used the CC company (or your bank) to make a draw back. Canceling and resubscribe 100 times will not make you banned

Well I have been using what's called an "e card". It's a bank service that lets you create a temporary CC (with a set ammount of money on it and an expiration date) when I've purchased playtime. Perhaps they didn't like that ?
As for the banning, its possible that someone hijacked your account and was causing trouble with it. Contact SOE.
Never had a real issue with the cs..apart from one time at new year they've been quick and very helpfull to me at least
My only thought on it it could be that your account has been hijacked in some way or a glitch in the billing service (though i doubt that would ban you)
Hope you get it sorted out soon

I want one good reason as to why they cannot even talk to a former paying costumer.. They want me to call them? $1 per minute or what? I would have to call from across the world
i'm currently going through this same problem, and in contact with sony and they supposedly have someone looking into it and my email says waiting for GM, If i dont get a responce i will be calling them in a couple of hours..
I find this BS, and really like EQ2 , this is the only bad experience I have had with them and thus far the worse of any game I have dealt with. I hate to have to move on and find a new game

Bingo!
That is why you were banned. NC Soft is also sensitive to Credit Card Changes and changes in payment.

For security and liable reasons they must be able to talk to you over the phone to verify who you are. Do you really want to send your credit card, payment information, and other sensitive information about yourself over the internet through email...which can be easily picked up along the lines and read at any time anywhere by people? Honestly think it through your having problems with your account most likely due to its very sporatic behavior in its account information they want to verify who you are before just going 'here you can have your account back' . Otherwise they could potentially via email give it to someone who is NOT the owner.
Seriously start thinking first before jumping into the OMG i can't believe they won't tell me personal information through email! They're protecting themselves and you. Anyone that asks you for vital personal information through email is either really retarded or a scammer anyone who's been around the internet knows that.
I'm not saying you don't have a right to change your account when you want to but it sounds as if you do it alot which makes companies that have to deal with ALOT of fraud and gold farmers, spammesr etc really nervous. It would make anyone who runs a billing department anywhere nervous.
If you check their website their should be a toll free telephone number for international calls. If not then shame on SOE.
Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!

I knew all that and I'm aware of exactly as to why they won't do it... It's just that I find it so damn silly
Its not silly at all. In this day and age, identity theft is a very real problem. Its different when you're using a bank or a hotel/flight booking system because they have secure systems, but you can't even send THEM that information over email. Email is NOT secure.
Its better to protect both of you than not. They're doing their job.
Listen, I am a big believer in owning up to mistakes.
You may hate SOE but you have to hate them for the right reasons. Them banning you because you change your payment details so often is not a good reason as there are so many scammers, account sellers, gold sellers, etc.
A bit of a tid bit for you in case you don't know, in the real world, apart from games, Credit Card companies are very sensitive to your purchasing decisions as are banks. You can get flagged for behaviour that seems irregular from the norm. That's common. The average person doesn't change their payment details all that much whether it is bill pay or Gym membership, etc.
And not to get on your case, but if you were really so concerned about controlling your finances you wouldn't have to change your payment methods so much. That just makes it seem like you are out of control as you can't decide how you want to pay for your account. If you are keeping track of payments then why wouldn't you want a reliable and easily accessible method so that you can more easily keep track? Otherwise you are paying with multiple methods and it's hard to keep track. Again, no offense intended but that doesn't sound like control to me. It sounds mercurial.
As far as them only speaking to you through telephone. You shoulnd't hate them for being careful about who they discuss your information with.
Sometime ago I was setting up online banking and was not thrilled with all the hoops that I had to go through in order to sign in on another computer. Then I realized this was my money and the harder it is for me to get to my accounts (hard being many steps that were needed) then the harder it will be for someone who wants to access my accounts and take my money.
Just call them and deal with it. I'm sure if you are polite (so many people forget that being polite actually works) and explain to them your reasons there could be a good chance you will be unbanned.

No worries. It's part of life. I still don't have a mortgage and I'm 40 (live in a city so I rent in a nice area). Imagine all the surprises that I have in store for me

And what will they verify over the phone, if you don't mind telling me? Your voice??
If you need to send them credit cards or IDs, there is 'https' encription protocols just like when you subscribed...
I don't know, why don't you ask them?
I do know that there have been times in the past that I needed to call a bank or even NC Soft when they had to reset all their passwords and it had to be by phone in order to get what I wanted dealt with "dealt with".
Perhaps there are some legalites taht protect you, me and them?
otherwise I couldn't tell you. It is what it is. Why are people called for Jury duty so very far away from where they live when there are courts so close by in their own community? It just is what it is and we would have to seek those answers methinks

Um.. regardless of what info SOE verifies over the phone.. they shouldn't be giving credit card or other sensitive data to anyone over the phone. (saw a post talking about this..)
When you call and talk to CS they will ask you the last 4 digits of the "on file" card. Of course if you use a gametime type card that's not something they ask.
I've called them a few times when I had issues with the character transfer service.. but I don't really remember what else if anything they really asked for.
What I do know.. is form what you implied you are outside the US?
We order a lot of software development tools from Europe. We've started having weird issues that were explained to be relative to Homeland security in some degree.
But all that happens if our credit card will show as "invalid", "declined" or not able to verify. Then we call the company and they have to "release" something and it works.
But if you are going into cancel mode every month (I do this myself) I'm not sure.
There have been plenty of people that were banned and then unbanned in EQ2 tho.. at various points in time. Usually happens when they ban gold sellers.. and the people that get "unbanned" aren't usually involved in it... they just get caught in the net somehow.
Of course that doesn't really make one less pissed off about time lost and the hassle etc.
Oh and changing credit card sources shouldn't be an issue.. when the name and address are the same.
If an account keeps having different billing info, name of billing and address of billing.. you might get flagged.
Of course, if you just happened to have named one of your toons something like "Xkfsdgjiriigqio", it might just have been an honest mistake.
Nah they have pretty regular names, nothing like "Kfdsret" or anything
