They often think of it alone in the dark.  Some of them browse forums.  For all we know, maybe you just spawn the future: Pony Online, the MMO killers which would destroy every other game!

Talking about videogames won't change any existing game.  But devs, are often insomniacs...and some even read online forums.  See, we are not going to fool anyone here...all serious devs take us for what we are...freaking nerds which should do something of their life but rather waste time speaking about games.  That doesn't mean we can't make a point, spawn a doubt, a second consideration.

Hopefully, some brilliants devs reading these posts will figure...well, not everyone in a MMO enjoy the same thing, so let's make sure they have as much choice as possible and we never enforce foreign gameplays on their choice.  I will never repeat it enought.  Best at A, should be Aer.  Best at B, should be Ber.   (Best soloers in a game should be soloers, as they care, they are willing to solo to earn it, best groupers in a game should be groupers...and so on with each and every other gameplay).

I am pretty sure I will never have any impact on any game I wish I would have.  That doesn't mean I won't have a positive impact in another game.  Although, maybe I won't like that game at all.  I mean...Ponies are cool I guess but...

I hear that really and agree with you.

It's just I felt the OP was asking a point of view from developers. Since developers are not usually talkative on a point like that, as I'm just a fellow player myself, I just gave what I took away from something a developer posted on a board.

That was only clue I could find at the time from a developer standpoint.

Ive been playing mmos for about 5 years or more now and at first (in my opinion anyway) you saw new and intresting ideas and concepts when new games were made or planned.

but nowdays it seems like developers are scared to lose their funding or not get any if they take some chances on a game and rather "stick with what works".

The large MMORPG developers may be locked into formulaic stuff, but there are also small independent game developers like me. I created a small MMO called "Tower Island", also known as "Sheep Island". You've probably never heard of it because it was mostly a test to see if I could really do this. It was never intended to be commercially successful. As a test run, though, it was completely successful. I proved that I can create an MMO and run it over the internet for multiple players.

That one was not terribly creative since that wasn't the point, but for those of you lamenting the lack of creative MMO games, you might be interested to know that I have two more in the works. One of them is available for free playtesting now.

The working title of the game is "Magic of the Gods" but that will probably be changed later. This game has some huge differences from other MMO games. The main one is the way I have combined in-game magic with programming and game design.

Imagine a world created entirely by magic. Imagine extremely powerful wizards (or gods) who can use their magic to create new places, people, weapons and invent new spells. Imagine that you, as a player, can have adventures in this world. If you learn enough about magic, you can write your own spells to do just about anything, including making permanent changes to the game. You can also sell or give the magic you create to other players. You can create new skills, new crafts, new artifacts, etc. All it takes is enough magic. You can have lower level players as your followers and create your own kingdom. Just about anything is possible.

That's the basic idea. The current version is very basic and needs more work, but for those of you who have ideas on how a game should be designed, that's a plus. It's not too late to make suggestions on how the game should work and have us implement your suggestions.

Anyway, if you want to give it a try, you can go to the link below for information on whether the game server is currently online and where to download the free game software.

Or if the link doesn't work, cut and paste this URL to your browser:

That link is on a forum devoted to an entirely different game which so far is text based only, but is one I'm trying to make into an MMO also. That's just the place where the game server status and software download link are posted.

After you have tried playing the game, e-mail me at champion67@gmail.com and let me know what you would like to see added or changed in the game. I know it needs a lot. What do you think is the most important thing to add or fix next?
