Assuming that you have in fact been playing for 25 years I would at least peg you as 35 years old... maybe older. You mention a lack of maturity in the player base yet you with quite a few years of life experience fail to bring said maturity to this forum.
I for one hope that narrow minded people such as yourself stop playing games and go for a trip around the world and experience different cultures and see their values. Some of them have been around for a lot longer and have values that have worked for just as long. I wonder what you think when you see the National Geographic channel that is educational in it's purpose and they start portraying some of the amazonian people or some of the African tribes where women have never heard of bras and walk around with their chest exposed to the elements simply because they don't see the need to cover up. Your head must explode from the seer exposure. My god is it so hard for you to perhaps think reasonably and understand that Conan has been written in the 1930's by a respected author that has written numerous other writings spanning a multitude of genres and is regarded as an artistic expression.
Like it was stated above, if Robert E. Howard was alive today and was watching the progress of this game I would hope he would be mildly pissed off. If its a form of art, then why don't you understand why people were so up in arms about this? This is literally a battle fought over the right of companies to implement their own artistic vision, be what it may, versus the right of censors and prudes to limit the artistic vision because of 'think of the children.'
The battle was won in movies, after some time, and movies grew as an art form. The battle was lost in comics, and for three decades or more, they were destroyed as an art form. Three decades.

I think that some people want it and some people don't. So why the heck doesn't AoC just have a simple content filter that lets the account owner choose to have explicit content or not?! REALLY does this need to be so difficult? It's the same as an obsenity filter. Call it the nipple filter or maybe the blood and gore filter. Sure some people want it all gore, beheadings, nipples and whatever else. But some people maybe have kids and families and aren't really impressed by some of these things but still want to play the game. Why shouldn't they be able to select a flag and have these features toned down. Even better if you are a parent and you don't approve of the content for you son or daughter why not have a parential filter where you can lock in certain levels of content.
Yes censorship is bad but so is lack of choice and that doesn't have to be the case. Let the consumer be free to control the level of content when there is an issue of acceptability!

I saw a gore filter when in Oslo playing, there were many, many options I'm sure there could be a content filter such as you say.

I am glad Funcom will be allowed to launch the game without any issues. My main reason is I detest censorship. Nipples or no Nipples make little difference to me as I like what the game looks to be bringing to the table world and game-play wise.

Actually video games are a form of art. Just as much so as movies and paintings. Think about it like this, video games are a new age art form. Digital art and media I expect will be more widely accepted as an art form in the future. Let's face it. the guys that make these games are great artist. They aren't as renowned as Da vinci and Picasso, but they are still artist.

But serious... we can have anything in the media in germany. It just depends on context. You can show nazi symbols in a documentary film, but not in a video game. Well, nazi symbols are a special case, they are prohibited by law.
We do watch the same movies and DVDs the people in USA watch, we can have any sort of weird pr0n on DVD. We can watch extreme gore Samurai movies.
The problem with videogames is the rating. It doesnt matter if rated USK16 or USK18. It does matter if the USK refuses to give any rate. Not all, but some titles without rating finally will be listed on the "Index". Once on the Index i am allowed to own a copy, but i am not allowed to travel to france, austria or USA, buy one and bring it back home through the customs. But the real reason for indexing is the "pointless" usage of violence, nazi symolism, racism, insulting religions, drugs. And the words pointless and context are the keys.

No the organization isn't the part of the US Government. It has little actual oversight, but it does bow to political pressure, which it shouldn't.
Oh and go and tell the dozens of ARTISTS that Funcom has hired to work on Age of Conan over the years that they aren't working on art. I think they'd have quite the rebuttal for ya. That and go watch some of the videos for the game and tell me the zones in this game aren't some of the most artistically gorgeous scenery you've ever seen in a game.

Alot of debate over an emersion technique. Silly people... its a gimmick is all. I don'r think it hinders or enhances the game to have nipples but for the realism aspect it would look weird to be without them.
The graphics details are far superior to anything else out there. These Characters look and move realistically..... thats the point to edge closer and closer to realistic.
Besides its true to the genre of Conan The Cimmerian, it was a dark brutal time and properly clothed did not exsist.

Sorry friend but based on your last statment I think you would have a huge argument on your hands from many artists.
If the painter paints a wall white it is only art if he presents it as such. Meaning, one large painted White canvas can actually be considered Art (or wood board, etc).
And yes, artists (in the broad sense of the word including anyone working in a medium that they can present as art) can make art for mass consumption. It doesn't have to be limited to museums.

You my friend, need to talk to an ART MAJOR. Artist DO WHAT THEY DO FOR MASS CONSUMPTION. Artists want to SHOW people, their gift, and share it with the world. And as such they EXCLUSIVELY want to share it as they intended it to be seen. If I paint a house to protect the wood, NO is not art. Well, at least the AoC Fans, since you so conveniently generalize this issue, have the advantage that they have this kind of subject-matter in the game by default, whereas all the WAR Fans will have to come up with Nude Patches in order to have the same again. I wonder what you think when you see the National Geographic channel that is educational in it's purpose and they start portraying some of the amazonian people or some of the African tribes where women have never heard of bras and walk around with their chest exposed to the elements simply because they don't see the need to cover up. My god is it so hard for you to perhaps think reasonably and understand that Conan has been written in the 1930's by a respected author that has written numerous other writings spanning a multitude of genres and is regarded as an artistic expression.
Like it was stated above, if Robert E. Howard was alive today and was watching the progress of this game I would hope he would be mildly pissed off. This is literally a battle fought over the right of companies to implement their own artistic vision, be what it may, versus the right of censors and prudes to limit the artistic vision because of 'think of the children.'

I think that some people want it and some people don't. So why the heck doesn't AoC just have a simple content filter that lets the account owner choose to have explicit content or not?! REALLY does this need to be so difficult? It's the same as an obsenity filter. Call it the nipple filter or maybe the blood and gore filter. Sure some people want it all gore, beheadings, nipples and whatever else. But some people maybe have kids and families and aren't really impressed by some of these things but still want to play the game. Why shouldn't they be able to select a flag and have these features toned down. Even better if you are a parent and you don't approve of the content for you son or daughter why not have a parential filter where you can lock in certain levels of content.
Yes censorship is bad but so is lack of choice and that doesn't have to be the case. Let the consumer be free to control the level of content when there is an issue of acceptability!

I saw a gore filter when in Oslo playing, there were many, many options I'm sure there could be a content filter such as you say.

I am glad Funcom will be allowed to launch the game without any issues. My main reason is I detest censorship. Nipples or no Nipples make little difference to me as I like what the game looks to be bringing to the table world and game-play wise.

Actually video games are a form of art. Just as much so as movies and paintings. Think about it like this, video games are a new age art form. Digital art and media I expect will be more widely accepted as an art form in the future. Let's face it. the guys that make these games are great artist. They aren't as renowned as Da vinci and Picasso, but they are still artist.

We do watch the same movies and DVDs the people in USA watch, we can have any sort of weird pr0n on DVD. We can watch extreme gore Samurai movies.
The problem with videogames is the rating. It doesnt matter if rated USK16 or USK18. It does matter if the USK refuses to give any rate. Not all, but some titles without rating finally will be listed on the "Index". Once on the Index i am allowed to own a copy, but i am not allowed to travel to france, austria or USA, buy one and bring it back home through the customs. But the real reason for indexing is the "pointless" usage of violence, nazi symolism, racism, insulting religions, drugs. And the words pointless and context are the keys.

Alot of debate over an emersion technique. Silly people... its a gimmick is all. I don'r think it hinders or enhances the game to have nipples but for the realism aspect it would look weird to be without them.
The graphics details are far superior to anything else out there. These Characters look and move realistically..... thats the point to edge closer and closer to realistic.
Besides its true to the genre of Conan The Cimmerian, it was a dark brutal time and properly clothed did not exsist.

Sorry friend but based on your last statment I think you would have a huge argument on your hands from many artists.
If the painter paints a wall white it is only art if he presents it as such. Meaning, one large painted White canvas can actually be considered Art (or wood board, etc).
And yes, artists (in the broad sense of the word including anyone working in a medium that they can present as art) can make art for mass consumption. It doesn't have to be limited to museums.
I'm afraid the "what is art" argument has had pages and pages of material written about it.

You my friend, need to talk to an ART MAJOR. Artist DO WHAT THEY DO FOR MASS CONSUMPTION. Artists want to SHOW people, their gift, and share it with the world. And as such they EXCLUSIVELY want to share it as they intended it to be seen. If I paint a house to protect the wood, NO is not art. IF I paint a house so that you may see how beautiful it is, Yes its art.
