I think it would be a really good game, good PvP, cool new combat style, however I think that the game is not really for PvE people. What I have heard is that the world would be really really small. So there is not much to explore etc.

So I think the PvE-lovers just have to stay with WoW (maybe it will have good PvE also, I don't know, just speculation) and the diehard PvPers will love AoC

    (hmm I'm kinda a WAR fanboy and I didn't flame Aoc! WTH?!xD)

Well WAR has a lot PvE too (if the devs are telling the truth), you got PQ, lairs, dungeons etc.

Now on topic, well how big are those 30 instances? I heard that the total game would be 1/8 of WoW total size. That is not really big you know. It would be nice if they have some good PvE, but I don't really buy it.

Developers have stated that AoC will have 185 Square miles of land that is playable spread out over 30 or so zones. This is over twice as big as pre BC WoW. So you heard wrong. (if you do a search on size of WoW most people state its around 80 sq miles.) One zone I played at the community event took nearly 2 hours to cross and was only half explored - apparently it was a "smaller zone". The game is BIG its massive, its been in development longer that any other mmorpg due out this year -( that counts towards time put in for content.) How do you not buy the PvE side of things ?

Plus there are 25 other area's / countries that wont be in for launch but have been ear marked for expansions. The world by game and lore is massive.

And in LOTRO they made something called Monsterplay. You can make your own monster to fight others players in PvP. It's sounds great, but trust me it's not. Worst PvP I ever done in my life.
    3. This game seems to need a strong computer. That might be a problem for people.

On your second comment, just because there aren't factions doesn't mean there isn't PvP. there is even huge guild vs guild battle keep sieges on all servers, not just PvP ones. on pvp servers you can basically attack any player anywhere excluding a few safe places.

well no matter how hard i try i hate pvp so i guess thats a minus in my books.

again the lore and PvE elements are really clouding my vision.  its like playing WoW all over again only with a better game and lore that interests me greatly.

thanks for the replies.  i guess i will wait til the NDA is lifted and try the game out for myself.

Some things sound good for this game, however, i still cannot get the fact that some testers had posted here about this game being another Vanguard release, so for me, i think i will be holding off for at least 2mths or so before i consider purchasing the game. See what the feedback is like. Only bad things i have heard about warhammer is that its identical to warcraft (maybe in looks, but not in gameplay) so i am still going to purchase that one (as it stands right now, unless any mishaps appear for it).

    What's wrong with AoC?

Avery is going to be playing it.

If I interpret the posters mentioning Vanguard correctly, they are worried that AoC, by trying to include too many things, may have a bad launch. It's an understandable fear and one I have myself. What's more interesting is whether the class balance will be good (it will never be perfect, no game has achieved that) at launch.

Today the floodgates open, so if you're going to hear whining, it'll start tonight.

To the two posters that compared WoW to WAR/AoC.

What aspects of these games are WoW like? They are a fantasy setting games?

People should understand that WoW isn´t the first RPG ever made, actually if anyone is copying anything its WoW. The whole orc elf thing? They copied it from Warhammer and not the other way around. Conan and Warhammer lore were created far before any shallow blizzard crap. ^_^

Nearly every single MMO in existence with a closed beta has had some idiot tester babbling doom and gloom, most of these just don't like the game and/or lost sight of why there is a Beta in the first place, to fix that which is wrong.

If you like, think about it this way. There are somewhere over ten thousand invited Beta Testers in AoC at the moment. Of those, only a handful that I am aware of have broken the NDA with negative reports, and every critic who tried it allowed to say his/her piece has been in turn positive.

So, no, I'm not particularly concerned about that particular aspect.

In the end, we'll all have to just play it to form our own opinions I suppose.

You will surelly enter in a discussion between doomsayers and fanboys. You cant know really the "bat things" of this game till you played it.

Agreed but both on here and 2 other sites i have read this and they have been backed up by several other posters confirming what they had said and that is why i am dubious (i dint listen to much bad publicity for vanguard) and bloody well wish i had. I will NOT be makign that mistake again.

The words another vanguard release really put me off AoC, nearly put me off completly, though i will wait several mths for feedback on this one as i had already stated. Another vanguard release i dont want to have thankyou very much.

Having not been successfull at getting into this games Beta i MUST go by peoples reports and that is all i can base my conclusions on. Yes i havent been successful at getting into Warhammer beta either, but it by far has not had bad publicity in my views at all.

It usually pays off to be cautious. Never hurts to be on the safe side.

On the other hand, in order to have a "Vanguard release", first you need a release. And since we're (at least) 3 months away (provided they don't push the release date any more (which is not what Sigil did if I'm not mistaken), all we can do is wait and see how these two frontpage games will evolve.

Not on the frontline perhaps but there are equally good games produced that don't see that much publicity. An outsider has the potential to pleasantly surprise us as well.

So I am slowly grinding my character in VG two nights ago while listening to people moan, curse and complain incessantly  about something in general continent chat. I listen for a while and get some bad early day SB flashbacks - except these guys are talking about AoC stress-beta.

The highlighted words alone should be way more than enough to explain anything you heard.

Stress betas are supposed to be hell to play, they are designed to push the game to the limits and far beyond it.

General Beta and Stress test beta are two entirely different things.  Usually the stress test beta isn't even using the same client as general beta.  The developers use the stress-test feedback to gather information about server loads.  It in no way reflects what is actually going on in General Beta.
