If they had mobs and NPC's in the game, then they would have shown them in the video. It makes no sense to take all of them out every time you show a video.
So i think its safe to assume that they have a long way to go on this game.

Saying beta is about to begin, and then 5 years later, still no beta Saying your game is ready for beta, then releasing a video showing you don't even have mobs and NPC's in the game yet Saying you have a playable game, but then when you go to a game convention, you don't even bring the game! A good example of a game that i think will be a total failure is Age of Conan. They have put loads of adverticising money on a total crap game. Heck, Earthrise, which is being developed by a company in almost the exact same situation as Aventurine (the parallels are scary actually) has already exceeded DF in terms of successful promotion and marketing, and w/o spending millions of dollars. (and, they are at recent Dev conferences)
Bold statements about not needing publishers (most successful games these days have one), not communicating well even on their own company forums, much less in the outside world (one email every two weeks to warcry hardly counts), virtually no recent videos to display the game in an era where any 14 year with fraps can make a great one etc etc.
No, pretty much, DF is breaking almost all the rules to successful game development. Until its released we won't know if their "strategy" holds water or not.
True they dont act as the large rich mainstream companies as i explained before. I even quoated Tasos where he explain the reason behind. His standpoint make much sense since what is important in the long run is making a good game people wanna play, not hyping a crap game through the roof which only will make the fall alot longer.
And where is the boldness in not promoting the game with loads of Euros? Its way more bold to put alot of money on promotions instead of developing a good game. And please show me some relevant statistics that the most promoted games have the most subs? I dont buy that. A good game will survive on its own strength, simple as that.
And quoting one of the biggest Darkfall trolls dont make you more trustworthy.

And when Darkfall will release is in the stars, i dont know it and you definetly dont know it.
And to the OP, gameplay video and loads of screenies on mobs is out. Last we heard about quests they is on final polishing.
Im no AoC fanboi, but i want it to be released in May. The MMO community needs more games. WAR seems to have been puched back to 2009 or something. And DF......we can only hope something will happen in 2008.
So until something good is released, we are stuck with all korean grind games.
