If you think SOE is bad then don't even think about  buying an EA product! image

Or an NCSoft product, I hear their customer service makes SOE's look like its perfect.

guys guys guys.... these are GAMES.

You hardcore uber macho forum people amaze me. If you like a game, play it....if not, then dont. And if you dont want to waste money to find out if its good or not, wait for a trial or play on someone elses account first.

I was going to write more but there is no point. I guess some people were meant to spend their sad lives crying about what they dont have or what they want... in a freakin videogame no less. and Riker...youre a very passionate person but i think your fervor cold be put to better use. go to www.urbanaero.com and tell them you want flying cars now! just like the 60's said we would.

I'm not sure which NCSoft product you're playing .... but I've had to use petition twice since I've been playing, and both times I had GM's by my side within 30 minutes, and they took care of my problem.  Can SOE claim that kind of service?  Hmm?  Hmmm?

Sorry Motorhead, I was over on the City of Heroes board and some people were claiming that the Devs didn't listen about blasters being too powerful, and how they couldn't get any help with other thing.

Also, I was in the last week of the Lineage 2 beta, and I got stuck in a building, couldn't leave. This was sometime in the morning. After figuring out to get some help, I waited about 15 miinutes before logging off in disgust. I logged back in about 8 hours later and was still stuck. I tried again to get some help, but no luck. At that point I started asking for help from the people around me. After a few people just passed me by, one person was nice enough to help me out and tell me how to get out. The problem repeated throughout the week, up until they closed down beta.

Play the game first before you listen to people on the CoH board. I play a blaster and some combinations not only blaster are quite overpowered when made right. It's not just blasters it's every class.

You know what Fenrir, you're absolutely right. Play the game before you listen to the people on the boards about how good/bad a game is. Look for advice and help. but ignore the people saying how the game sucks/rocks.

You've heard? Well it must be true then.

The fact is some people did cancel their accounts because they're foolish and think that the entire CB was pushed back.

Currently on Test Center are several fixes/counters for the most "game breaking" PvP profession in the game, the Combat Medic.  And more fixes are going up their almost daily.  Yesterday TC saw 2 patches, both with fixes for combat.  While these fixes may be small they will have profound effects on PvP.

So anyway, some people who didn't bother to read THs post about the CB left, but I certainly haven't noticed any less people on the servers.

Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity.

Whats really upsetting about this whole mess is that so many of SWG players remain ignorant to whats going on. Or even worse is that they know, but dont care :(
I did a spam shout in a few towns that said / shout "SOE announced combat revamp is hold hold until JTL gets finished. We were misled into believing JTL had its own dev team and now we find out all swg devs will be working on JTL. Smuggler revamp is cancelled also. Please sign our petition on eclipse forum to show support and boycot JTL by not buying it."
I got several nasty comments, probably 30 at least. I also got maybe 15-20 "what are you talking about" comments as well. Others just made gestures or laughed. What is wrong with these people ? Dont they find it insulting to be lied to ?
What I've attempted to do to call attention to this situation.....
Called the President of Sony On-line Entertainment and left a polite but stern 10 min voicemail.
Informed every person I know on-line at swg whats going on and friends on City of Heroes. Ive spammed the SP's to educated those unaware of whats going on.
I posted 3 postings that were deleted. I then posted onto others so mine would go unnoticed. I cant do anymore here as SOE banned me without explanation. I also fully expect to get banned from the game itself before my 11 days are up. A few asshats told me they were taking screenshots of my spam and reporting me.
Ive written my Congressman about the lack of oversight or regulation in this multibillion dollar industry. We as consumers dont even have basic rights such as returning a game if its buggy.
Ive posted here and a few other mmorpg game sites to spread the word about SOE. Im not sure what else I can do.
Gaming industry really needs some sort of oversight committee. We as consumers have no protection against game developers. We cant return a game, have nobody to complain to, and are forced to sign a EULA agreement giving all rights away. If I bought a car from Ford and found out the car's brakes were defective, they'd have to fix it. If they refused, I could sue them and they could face possible criminal charges for not ordering a recall. Corporate responsiblity only happens when they are forced to comply with strict rules and regulations. Right now, the gaming industry (a multibillion dollar industry) has no oversight whatsoever. Therefore SOE and other companies can continue to screw us over knowing that there are very few Erin Brochovich tyes out there to complain or do anything about it.

You know I can't stand posts like this SOE lied to us. Flame SWG al you want, but all this deoes is restrict communication with the dev's. I realize you must be perfect but the rest of us humans aren't. The developers have made some mistakes. If you know ANYTHING about progaming you know that what seems like a simple fix effects things that you had no idea it would. The deveopers may have had a whole new set of people to work on JtL but a command decsion was made to cancel it.

People wonder why the devs don't like to come to the boards and tell people what's going on this is a perfect example of why devs remain tight lipped. They try to do something and if it doesn't go right and it takes longer than it should people call them lairs. If they just kept their mouth shut no one would be the wiser. So please just cancel your account and go away so the rest of don't have to suffer for your fellings.

and as far as "oversight committee" you can make your voice heard by not buying games, it's as simple as that. SOE didn't put a gun to your head and steal the money out of your wallet, it's what you chose to do. You didn't wait for reviews, you just jummed right in. Not only that , but you've been giving them your $15 a month for over a year now, yet you bitch that others are doing it.

Oh yeah good luck with that letter to your congressman, let me know how that works for you.

I'm writing to mine also, amongst other letters I'm sending out.  You are correct, no one holds a gun to our heads when we choose to buy/subscribe to these games but you except a reliable and relatively bug-free environment.  Now, some people never experience certain bugs because they never engage in particular activities that contain these bugs.

I subscribe to EVE online and recently during hardware upgrades, the server could not be maintained during an 8 hour period.  It just kept crashing.  EVE credited all subscribers with a free day.  THIS is a VERY small gesture and goes a LONG way in seeing that customers (cause that's what we are) are kept happy.  Happy customers = more money.  Since I started playing EQ, SOE hasn't had the best customer service...scratch that...they have one of the worst CS departments.

When you purchase a product, you expect certain things.  EULA's absolve the company from any responsiblity of providing a quality product.

I know first hand that a simple fix can have far reaching effects.  Nothing is ever "easy" when it comes to coding BUT the fact that some bugs have been complained about since Beta and have STILL not been fixed is UNACCEPTABLE.  PERIOD.

Right and the fact that this is patch is late or that patch is pushed back is unacceptable to other people. That's the trouble everyone wants everything perfect and they want perfection by tomorrow, but you know what, it still wouldn't be good enough because what's perfect for you isn't what is perfect for everyone so people would still complain.

Everquest has been out for FIVE YEARS and it still has bugs, so you're surpised SWG does after one fifth that amount of time? Ashron's Call two has been out almost a year and still has bugs, so does EVERY OTHER GAME in that list to the left of your screen.

Yeah good luck on that letter to congress too.

    Dear congress,
I realize there is a war going on right now and people are dying and you're trying to help put a country back together and a presidential election is going to be starting soon, but could you please take time out of your day to yell at that mean 'ole SOE company, their computer game has bugs in it.

  • MakestroMakestro Member Posts: 218

its not that we dont want bugs, we just want the game we love and enjoy to become more enjoyable...

and the combat revamp was suppose to fix this, along with the gcw revamp... and its been push back twice now... a lot of people kept playing expecting this revamp to come before JtL only to find out they wasted money for something they will need to pay even more money to get(the expansion plus more months unles they cancle to then... where you'll only need the expansion)

i after to agree writing a letter to your congressmen is a joke and pretty lame... we do got rights as a played of SWG or any other game... either keep paying ot stop playing... so thats a childish worthless atempt since those are our rights and ou dont need to play

SWG is a great game... the devs pushed back a well needed fix but they are also adding in new fixes after they found out the impact of this pushback.... they will do things right im sure... just give them time... most games start to improve a lot after the first expansion also so im going to keep playing

Well I can't really tell if you're saying we have no rights or we do.  Your grammar is not the best.

You are correct...our option is to stop playing.  I used that option three months after the game went live.  BUT WHAT SOME OF YOU FAIL TO REALIZE IS THAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR A PRODUCT.  You are a consumer and you can do what you want.  You can pay for a flawed product or you can choose to not pay for it.  I choose to not pay for it and as MY RIGHT, I will make the biggest stink about the state of the game that I can make.

Worthless?  Perhaps but at least I'm ATTEMPTING to do something.

im not saying you dont got the right to do so, im just saying they probably wont care since its about videogames, and videogames make us all want to kill peopel and stuff... or thats what most these people in politics seem to make it sound like...

and i know quiting is not always an option because youl ike the game... in your case you quit 3 months after launch... the game has went pretty far after launch man so i dont know why you are here running your mouth unless you played the game recently, if you did im sorry about the previous comment...

but if you keep playing expect to get what you are paying for... the devs... im pretty sure will go into full kick ass mode after JtL hits stores.... just be patient yeah it may not be the mosty bug free but its the funnest mmorpg i played

most fun......Anyways, i would have to disaggree with you on that.  However, they should keep to their word and actually do the stuff they say they will.  I played for around 7 days and sadly i felt like i knew exactly where i would be in 2 months or even a year playing this game.  I also felt that their was really no point in accomplishing anything, because acomplishments really don't even have a big affect on the experience, atleast i thought so.  I had friends who ran very successful businesses, however the only thing keeping them in the game was their deep love for S.  Oh well

I believe that SWG was a great game until they came out with Jedi crap. All people do are camp crafting spots and traveling areas as well. There are no safe zones either. SWG has allot to do. If they take their time the better because it means less bugs. And with a live game that releases before a final version it is always going to have bugs and errors and exploits. I know it may seem to be discouraging and if it continues then just don't play. I do believe there should be some consumer rights for games like these but in the long run stopping payments is easier and has more impact.

And also please stop repeating yourselves. I see posts from page 1, 2, and 5 all exactly the same. It gets almost as annoying as playing a game with those flaws.

And another way of figuring out what people say is to make a poll here.

Yes, I've played on my friend's account.  He doesn't play it anymore really, he's too aggrivated with SOE atm.  Alot of things have been added to the game, which I like but I've not noticed any appreciable decrease in the number of bugs currently affecting gameplay.

And no worries about the comment. image

    Here's the thing.

Blanket EULAs covers lawsuits. You can't sue unless there is a complete lack of service. Quality of service is not applicable. Your letters are worthless.

You are complaining because you paid for a game monthly in hopes of a major revamp, and you did not get one. I understand this is irritating, but you must understand that no one cares. You paid Sony, Sony has money, they had to delay the revamp, your pissed, Sony still has your money. Crying on a forum and spamming in game will not help your cause. Actually, when the revamp does come out, now you won't be able to play it without purchasing another copy of the game.

    Smooth move there.

You should have done the intelligent thing and cancelled your account until the fixes you wanted came out. But then what would you do with your time when you weren't whining on a scarcely populated forum?

And whoever said that 'I heard people quitting SWG left and right' is a moron. Those 5-10 posts you read were from people who are pissed at a video game. The only things you will ever hear on a forum are negatives, because the rest of us are all playing happily.
