Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

Name your terms SOE must meet for you to return

Mine are rather harsh, as I've been too far down the road with SOE to ever come back again, even for classic, without drastic measures being taken so as to restore any chance of trust being restored.  Maybe yours are less harsh, or even more harsh, but I'd love to hear them.

Note to fanbois:  Any attempt to flame or disrupt this thread will be reported.  This thread is for those who don't subscribe ONLY.

My terms (and I've posted these here before)

1. Smed has to go. Non negotiable. SOE cannot possibly ever be trustworthy again with him at the helm.

2. Jim Ward has to go.  Also non negotiable  (this one has been met)

3. Cao has to go. Same reasons.

4. Everyone forum permabanned not due to some form of criminal harassment (no, criticizing the NGE is not criminal) gets blanket amnesty.

5. Classic servers are open. Not promised. Open.

Then and only then will I even CONSIDER returning.  And the deeper I get into EVE and the closer ambulation is to being released, the less I care about classic SWG.  Honestly, I think the window has long closed.  At this point even a sequel based on Pre-CU that involved Bioware and not SOE would have a hard time winning me back.

Helios also has to go. I know he's already left SOE but he has to be fired from LA where he's currently working on 'The Force Unleashed'. I want him fired - in front of me. He was the guy who publish after publish nerfed Jedi while swearing that this was not policy. Then, at some convention, he admitted it was policy, specifically it was his policy - for example, he was the reason that premium pearls suddenly stopped dropping. A most dishonest person.

    I dont ask for much:

    #1 Pre-CU.

#2 Permadeath on Jedis. I want a NPC Darth Vader hunting them down one by one.

#3 Put some energy into fixing bugs and add more planets and space.

I think you are speaking of Julio Tora! TORA!! TORRES!!!, the LEC producer.  He is working on the force unleashed, and is why I won't buy that game.  The Dork Lord Helias is the lead producer for the DCMMO at SOE, or was as of a few months ago (they go thru Devs there like a revolving door).

If Ward's replacement at LEC takes the company in the right direction, empty suits like Torres will not last long.  As for Helias, the DCMMO meat grinder will take care of him, if there ever was a MMO destined for "fail" it's the DCMMO, due to the excessive micromanagement of Smed and other senior managers, because it is the "must be a hit to save the company" game.  Indeed, I believe the DCMMO will ultimately get Smed fired as well, since his fingerprints are all over it.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by that.

SWG had it's highest population when there were no Jedi.

It's that I do not like Jeid, I love them, especially my pre-cu Wookie Jedi.  But the truth is I like the game more with no JEDI, the server wars, the guild wars were a lot more fun.  Thats just my opinion :)

  • I wouldn't want Pre-CU back without Jedi.  I want Pre-Cu to be Pre-Cu, with all that was good and bad, not some NGE'd version of Pre-CU.

I might consider allowing Smed to remain if he had to go on a "Summit" tour and sing the Calvin and Hobbes "I'm Very Sorry" song:

    Bum bum bum

    I blew it!

    He's sorry

    I knew it!

    So sorry

I'm very very sorry that I took your precious flaaggg!

Just don't do it any more, you scurvy scalawaagg!

PreCu without jedi would be perfect.  The holo grind, then jedi unbalancing combat were the beginning of decline in fun for me.  The Imp vs Reb war was a lot better before Jedi showed up.

Next, a vision for the game that is constructive and fun.  Simple things, like making faction armor good, capping resistances, getting rid of insanely destructive dots that kill you in seconds, etc.  Maybe throw in that dressing room feature that EQ2 and LOTRO have where you can wear the appearance of what you want while retaining stats from your armor.  That feature should be in every mmo.

I still think it would be fun to play SWG precu.  But now as some have said, a lot of water has passed under the bridge.  I am playing LOTRO and the development team here are everything that SWG team lacked.  It's still not Star Wars...but what can you do....and besides SWG didn't really feel like Star Wars either.

Well, the game had its highest population, I believe in its first few months - yes, there were no Jedi then but I would say that was because of launch impetus rather than an influx of people all joining a game in which 'there are no jedi'. However, the highest persistent plateau of subs - between 200-250k - was in the months before the NGE and this was a when there were Jedi. It is my belief that a lot of people, including most of the best of the mature, long-time players, stayed loyal to the game because they were grinding or playing their jedi and using their alt toon as a support for that jedi. I myself would not have played the game for so long if I had not unlocked and then ground my jedi.

Perhaps I am no longer the idealistic fool I was in my youth but it seems to me that rehashing topics like this, some 2 years after SOE destroyed the game, are kind of pointless.  It's almost like asking what that ex girlfriend you broke up with 2 years ago would have to do to win you back today.  Forget the fact that she's married now and has two kids.  By God, she will meet these demands if she ever wants me to be part of her life again.  You see how silly that sounds.  If SOE wanted us to be part of their new SWG family, they'd have changed the game back to its original state or offered pre-cu servers long ago.  It's been two years now and they've given no indication that they ever plan to give into these demands.  Perhaps it's time we stop with threads like this and just focus our attention on the serious bugs and technical issues that should not exist in a game that's almost 5 years old.

Pointless? Dear oh dear. If other people, perhaps braver, more persistent, more resolute, had suffered from your sour defeatism, then we'd never have got back Coke Classic, Futurama or a Nazi-free Europe.

I would come back for anything Pre NGE.  Preferrably I'd like the CU just before the NGE hit, they seemed to be doing alot of stuff for all professions, CU made carbineer more playable (Pre CU, you could kill yourself with carbs).  Although I wish there would be a change to the way jedi was achieved.  But after the NGE, I'm willing to take either Pre CU or CU.  Those I'll play.

The difference between New Coke and SWG is, Coca Cola actually listened when customers told them their new product tasted like shit.  SOE, on the other hand, doesn't care.  As long as a handful of people are willing to pay for their shit, they'll keep making it.  We can sit here all day and waste time by saying, it will take x to bring me back when, truth be told, SOE doesn't really care if you ever come back.

The why does it send me so many 'Please, please, pleeeeeeeeease come back' veteran free trial emails?

    Owned, I think.

Sorry but SOE won't be meeting any terms, sometimes you have to be big enough to realize how small you are.

Account has been stolen, why would someone want to steal my account?

    1. SOE must give control of the game to another company...(any company) and have no say in the future of SWG, and have no rights to future profits the game may make.

    2. Pre-cu/nge server.

No one here seriously expects them to meet our demands, largely because SOE's management has long since proven to be grossly incompetent, insane, or both.

Why on earth would ANY service entertainment business ever WANT to meet the demands of their customers, particularly when they left because of a huge MISTAKE that they'd made, and as a consequence, their business was in a downward spiral?

Why doing something like that might...  make SENSE!  Which might... MAKE THEM MORE MONEY!

Which is anathema to Smed and SOE.

Simply put we are stating OUR demands to SOE.  SOE can choose to meet them, or continue to do without us as customers.  As to power, we have it all.  By my reckoning there are in excess of 230,000 FORMER customers of SWG who were subscribers when the NGE was inflicted on us.  We meant what we said, quit, and voted with our feet.  We haven't gone back and aren't going back for the NGE, something that SOE and the fanbois need to "get over" (see my sig).

Who do you think holds the power?  SOE or 3.43 MILLION dollars in monthly lost revenue?  I do believe that we do.  While we can't force SOE to do what we want, we have severely wounded SWG and SOE by refusing to go quietly into the night, and will continue to do so until either they meet our demands or cease to exist.

Because YOU can not let go of SOE? ....else >

It's much easyer  to blame them for sending stuff you somehow are asking for yourself, you have to find that line in your own mail you get from them as my link won't work for others...afcourse.

To the OP: i don't get it ...really, so many people in this section saying the won't touch another SOE product or be involved with SOE...and yet we see topics like this come up asking what must SOE do to get you back. Try and read a couply of the more constructive post some of the disgrunted vets have made and you'll see it's not really about the game and the change's but it's HOW it was changed and how SOE has treathed many, i bet if SOE would have been completly open to us, even when they where going to stick with the NGE implementation you would see different reactions coming from some vets..i'm sure..., like i said if they really would have communicated with us, openly and really listened to us who where playing the game it might still be intresting to some of you/them/me to play...unforutanly they DID listen but more to those who stopped playing or only where complaining and whining about how hard the game was, how difficult jedi was, how much reading there was ect ...ect, yes we who enjoyéd the game wern't that loud as we where busy ingame havingg fun, thou occasionaly we floked to the forums only to see all the whines, i also know of allot of players of SWG (including myself) who had their own forums/website we often went to to discus things. We where left in the dark for a long time many do not forgive SOE for that as seen in this section, actualy i would never believe'd at the time that SOE would actualy listen to those complainers instead of those of us who where playing, tho those of us who where playing have given our complaints when many of us where in beta and already said loudly the game needed to wait before it would be released, but even when it was released we knew it could become a great game......if only things where fixed first instead of added........

Like to add when i say many of us i speak about those i met/am friends with or occasionaly play with, i'm not talking for the masses.

After seeing what SOE has done with Vanguard,  the only way I will play another SOE game is SOE sells the game to someone else.   In Vanguard they are  starving the game to death by getting rid of all the developers.  There has been almost no new content since they took over in May.  The game presently only has one content developer left.  It is shamefull what they have done.

I'd actually more or less agree with that.

Why in the hell would SOE change anything.

Being part of Sony Pictures (yes they are under that division if you didn't know).  As long as Spider Man etc makes money SOE makes money.  OH wait.. no really it does.  When they do their public statements it won't be itemized.. so you'll never see what SOE is losing that is being covered by the movies.

The money they'll make now that Blu-Ray won.. will help cover losses all around eventually.  That's the main reason I was hoping HD-DvD would win.. I didn't give a crap about either tech but didn't want sony getting money from anyone selling blu-ray players/movies.

So no its not about "how small" any of us are.  Its about how well a large corporation can hide losses.. and as long as the pissed off share holders at the next meeting don't know about it.. why do anything about it.

I don't care if SOE keeps SWG and Smedley can keep his job.

If a "pre-cu" classic server opened I would play.
