I cannot believe they can even sell this peice of junk. I got it today and I feel so... wow I run a Windows Vista dell with a Pentium 2 Duo, 3 gigs of ram and a Radeon HD 2600 XT and blah blah etc etc widescreen nice clear LCD - WoW looks beautiful on it, esp when I am out farming and casting all my pretty little spells or in Raids with tons of pretty little spells and smooth like butter - it's a good computer and should run any current MMO easily with max graphics. I install, goes smooth. Nice. I crank up the graphics... hmmm, odd, but it could work. Make my character. Sorta nice, dislike the hairstyles a lot actually but it seems promising because you can change other things like facial features and body part sizes. But the system seems clunky. I am still excited at the end of it. I make a shaman and she has an earthy vibe going on and I am excited to start a new game.
I think seems like a nice adventure game like Oblivion but better and online.
Apply brakes here
The game is second life but online with orcs and elves. But no, wait! The graphics are WORSE than second life and the lag is MUCH worse.
Hmm, I played VG on an old gaming laptop that had an Radeon Mobility 9800 AGP video card. So needless to say I had performance issues which I accept responsibility for, but not the crashes/bugs that happened on a frequent basis.
In the end, VG's gameplay didn't appeal to me. But to say it has bad graphics isn't really being fair. There might be a lot of features about VG that don't appeal, and as to which game has the best graphics thats more a matter of personal taste and opinion, and not based on any sort of factual basis.
I enjoyed my time in WOW, but I wouldn't call them the best graphics out there, just adequate for the job they were asked to do. (which is permit players to run the game on a wide variety of computer hardware)
If they made any mistake in WOW it was in not offering an option for a high end graphic client for those folks who have the horsepower to handle it.

No, this game stinks. It makes Classic EQ look pretty.
What a garbage game on a garbage engine.
LoRTO is the best looking MMO on the market. Lineage and Guild Wars and WoW are also far superior. WoW is stunning with a good computer and some actual talent. Everyone loves to hate the top dog, but subs don't lie. My only wish was that this game looked like the banner above, which it truly does NOT. Think I will pick up LoTRO again for my adventure game on days I don't raid.
I dont see why i am posting since all views have been placed but i just had to. VG whilst not being the best game out there is still one of the better MMO's, comparing VG to WoW is just well wow...
WoW is designed with low spec graphics so all those millions of people can play with there old rigs and laptops, VG is designed for modern desktop use. I played VG for a good few months and enjoyed it thoroughly. WoW is not well respected around here for one so comparing a game that if we had never got it released but was released now it would be a very popular game.
Sorry for the bit of a rant some peoples ignorance astounds me sometimes.
WoW>VG...lol ok...

Hmm ugly graphics in VG ?? erm only if you have your graphics settings turned all the way down. VG is many things, (boring, annoyingly hardcore.....gggrrrrr repeated corpse runs, and the biggest thing of all......no one else around..
Graphics in VG are fantastic. A quick sample below........
He says world of warcraft's graphics are best, better than any other mmorpg... There's no need to argue more, he clearly looks throu a pink glasses. How about a mmo insult... Go back to WoW!
My problem is more with mechanics than visuals. While I do not find the faces of the avatars all that appealing and I agree that the hair is lacking. Graphics are decent. I will not say they are "the best" however.
I more am having trouble figuring out mechanics of crafting and do not find the in game instructions informative enough, and I find any game that forces you to go outside the game to learn how to play it has failed. The point of a game is for it to be fun, and self contained. I could look up everything on the internet but I prefer to discover it in game. I gave up crafting after trying to create the first price from the quest (attire/clothing) because it kept telling me I did not have what I needed.
Meh.
I plan to play with it again later but I was too frustrated to bother.
My only other complaint is the low population I seem to encounter, and a lack of other people to hang out with which is why I play MMOs. If I wanted to solo I would just fire up a single player RPG.
I do not play VG, I left it bitterly disappointed after a long beta. Our entire guild left a couple months after launch. Given my bitterness with VG, I still find your post very unfair to VG. If you find WoW beautiful, in the sense that it needs a great PC to display, I wonder how you will find VG worse looking. You might need to figure out how to run it in Vista, I never have Vista. I do know that VG has very acceptable graphics with a decent PC. WoW, on the other hand, has a cleverly designed consistent line of artwork which works well on lower end PCs. But to say ditch VG graphics using WoW, ouch ...
YA right... Wow is the best looking MMO out there, people that slag it are just bitter.
Wow has serious issues, other than raiding and PvP I don't enjoy wow anymore. I used to love leveling and adventure in the worlds Blizzard created, but I think for me it is close to reaching it's end raiding aside. Blizzard sure puts out one amazing game and I am looking forward to Starcraft 2 and the next MMO.
But Vanguard? I'll go back to Oblivion thank you. Vanguard is a joke.
It reminds me of Second Life but a twisted version with orcs. The graphics are that bad, anyone who says otherwise is either blind or a troll.
lol, i really hope you are kidding. the whole reason i refused to play WoW when it came out was the graphics, and i was a huge blizzard fan.

the tutorial is pretty good at explaining things if you read through it... Also if you look at the recipe you are trying to make or work order in the description it tells you what you need and highlights in red if memory serves the items you are missing. Same for tools. Different processes require different tools esp as you get to more complex recipes. Remedies also will require unique tools and supplies. So you may want to buy some extra bags to add new tools as you discover which ones you need. This might also require that you switch tool belts or rearrange tools depending on what you are making.
I have a question: how would vanguard run with a GF7800, 2k ram and a 2.3 core duo processor? I looked at the specs a long time ago, but I know the game has gotten a lot better and wanted a view from personal experience. I'm thinking about trying it over summer, let me know, thanks!
game would be pretty decent on medium settings only, need a 512 or more card and faster than that for any settings higher. But even at that the game can look pretty amazing with only real lag coming when your in cities
WoW better graphics than Vanguard? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Ok no seriously what was the real reason you didn't like Vanguard?
Did you ever play Warcraft 3 and compare the graphics a bit? The graphics in WoW are the same engine concept as that game. With a few more polygons thrown in to give it a bit more depth. You want to see real blizzard heart try Diablo 2. That game may be old but it took more effort in truth than WoW.
Understand that I have never played VG but even I can tell when something had more time put into it, and the graphics are top notch. I can't vouch for anything else cause as I said haven't played.
Oh and this from a person who played WoW non- stop for two months. WoW was fun but only if you can deal with the same looking people everywhere and overblown anime like weapons for a anything Japanese we will consume public. Over sized shoulder pads ect. Oh and I like Japanese stuff, but I still quit.
On another note subscriptions is no claim to better graphics. It just means they simplified the whole MMORPG gameplay down enough that ten year olds can play. Also it comes with their advertising. I mean for Pete's sake they had Shatner, Mr. T, and the Mini Me guy do a commercial for them. How can any other MMORPG compete with that.
It's a common sense to say wow is awful (graphics are horrible) and lotro boring. VG is superior. Wow + lotro = kids. Vg daoc eve are for mature players.
+1
I have done my fair share of VG bashing but I am back now and I like the game now. I made a mistake the other night and ran over some high level content areas - felt like Benny Hill fast forward moment with every freaking piece of fauna chasing me. What caught my attention was the detail in those higher end critters. The eyes on bugs were glowing and I could distinguish ridges and ripples in their armor, the sun glinted off the fine detail and made my miserable run worth it
I loved the beta. The music on the launcher are emotional moving for me.. Vanguard means good times. But I unsubscribed after everyone and my dog unsubscribed.
I don't like the grind, but on a empty server you don't have much to do other than grind. Vanguard in a server with tons of people can be a really fun experience.
The Vanguard engine is crap, but can create really beatifull images. Is a pretty engine, that need a 9900 GFX or something, lol. Vanguard is, maybe, the most realisting looking fantasy world. But the engine is slow, and waste resources.
Vanguard is a fun game, and most races initial area is fun. If you can play with a static team, you can have interesting experiences
Stopped reading right there, you actually think Dell makes serious gaming systems? rofl.
The problem isn't with Vanguard, its with you and your false sense of self-entitlement, perhaps your time would be better spent actually learning something, rather than playing a video game that you cannot even figure out how to configure properly for optimal play.

I have been playing MMOs since 1997 and I am very patient with new ones usually, I just found the information on crafting very much lacking. I have one recipe I can craft. I click the + sign next to it and highlight it and in red it simply says I lack the right materials. It does not say what materials I need unless I am missing something.

I disagree. The information doesn't need to be handed to you by the game. You can gain such information by making friends, joining guilds and crafting channels. Such as would be the case if you were actually learning a craft. You don't master a craft by reading a book you master it by finding a mentor that has already mastered it.
That is the basic function of a community. Make some friends and learn. In the long run it makes the game much more satisfying.
Even though Vanguard can occasionally produce a nice screen shot, the in game graphical experience is very disappointing. It's a horrible mish mash of components of varying quality. Some things might look like they would fit in with Oblivion, while others look like they are right out of the original EQ! The art direction was inconsistent and no effort was put into ensuring that all the elements blended well.
WoW is definitely cartoonish, but everything blends perfectly, making a very immersive environment. Vanguard was constantly breaking immersion with clashing elements.
Maybe some of the zones later on are better, but from my limited Beta experience I can say that the graphics were incredibly off putting, more so than any other MMORPG I have played or tested and I've experienced a ton of them over the years.

No, your computer isn't good enough to run Vanguard.
A 2600xt is a 75$ card, bottom of the line.
To play the game well, you want a 7900/x1800xtx minimum, preferably an Nvidia 8800 series/ATI 2900/38xx series.
Those cards are about 400% faster than the 2600xt.
I have a question: how would vanguard run with a GF7800, 2k ram and a 2.3 core duo processor? I looked at the specs a long time ago, but I know the game has gotten a lot better and wanted a view from personal experience. I'm thinking about trying it over summer, let me know, thanks!
