Any old Star Wars Online vets lurking about?

Just curious. I left the game a while back and returned a month ago just to see how things were going and its much better than I thought. PVP nuts! They got alot of cool new stuff and im enjoying it. All my old mates are there too!

I played wow for a bit and although its a very good and well thought out game, theres something it just does have that star wars online does... (apart from Jedi of course :D)

Heres some screenies!

I bought SWG the day it came out and played up till the CU came out. The CU ruined it for me, and the NGE overkilled it...

    PS: WoW sucks.

I played SWG untill NGE, used to love the game like no other.  It was very sad being forced to cancel my 2 accounts. Played a lot of things since than including some other SOE games like EQ2 and Vanguard. So i subscribed to station access so i could play htem both , maybe play PoTBS too and take a look at SWG when i wanted. And i did, i miss the game so much and my Jedi, my house, my things, lot of good friends that i log in once in a while to take a look and chat. I even saw some nice good things they put in the game, but the game itself it totaly dumb. That awful combat system, ridiculous animations (weapons are now totaly dierent from the movie, the kind of energy shots too), the  ruined economy and the new and totaly pathetic skill system. Honestly how can u play that crap and say u had fun, a veteran of the "good old days"! Well i cant play that crap, not even if it was free.  Actualy it was like free because i had access for no aditional fee, even tho i didnt play and i wont. Just hope SOE to loose a lot of money before they finish it for good.

Maybe it would have been better to post this on the SWG boards ;)

I also tried SWG again recently, and it has indeed improved, especially due to their backpaddling efforts to bring the class diversity back.

Not sure yet, whether I will resubscribe.

Of course it has gotten better.. after NGE you can't really go any worse

But nope. I'm not going to play broken game and pay for it. Its 5 years old now and they aren't improving it very fast. If it was free-to-play then maybe but paying 15€ a month for that crap is just stupid.

I played SWG from about a month after release until two months before the CU.  I came back for the CU, hoping it would've balanced PvP and nerfed the "I win" button that was Jedi, but such was not the case.  I quit for good shortly thereafter, which saved me from having to deal with the NGE.

For a while I'd been playing both SWG and EVE Online, and when I quit SWG for good EVE became my primary game.   I've moonlighted in other games since, but keep coming back to EVE; it's just a great game.

Wow, Am I the only one who can tell this person is obviously a Rep From SOE.

Look at all of his posts on these forums. Seriously this is ridiculous. I like the "On purpose" Mess ups these guys like to do to make it seem like they are more of a "Random person".

i bought the game a month after release and wasnt able to play till a month after nge.......

It was my first mmo and i really liked it. I stucked trhough the FOTM comando stuff but when the game would crash almost as soon as i logged on that was it canceld and deleted it once i get my new comp im gonna try again.

Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms

Just wondering if this is part of the "positive word campaign" initiated by people on the official SWG forums to enlist new subs?

There's a couple hundred thousand vets 'lurking about'.  Most have wised up to the lies of SOE and relocated to other mmo's.  Others have decided to go down with the ship.  A few such as yourself actually swam toward the sinking ship.

It only took a few seconds of looking at that screenshot to realize I don't want to go back to SWG.

Sent me an email if you want me to mail you some pizza rolls.

Star Wars Online? You'd think SOE's shills could at least get the name of the game they are shilling right.

LOL.  Good one.  I tried a vet trial (still trying it).  The server is dead; I keep attacking stuff that I don't mean to attack.  The interface is just awful.  Crafting is still broken (nerfed to uselessness).  SWG really has very little going for it.

I've been on for about five days and have yet to speak to one person or seen people speaking amongst themselves.  Actually, I've only seen five people standing in the same location once.  After seeing the sad state of the game, I really just wish that SOE would let go of the game; so, I can let go of (at least lessen) my dislike for them.

Massive being 10 vs 10?  Man, at least be honest with people upfront about these things...  For those of us who have tried SWG NGE over the past 2 years we know there are 3 servers which have even a SMALL population in terms of an MMO, an Az isn't one of them.

If anyone wants to try SWG they need to use the free trial first, highly reccommended.

It really doesn't matter even if theres lots of people. I won't play SWG because the gameplay is so horrible. Whoopididoo few servers have lots of people... mostly kids what I've noticed while on 14 day trial.

I loved SWG before the NGE... if the NGE had never happened I would still be playing SWG to this day.

I tried the NGE, several times, to give it a fair chance.... But I will never like it.  I tried it... retried it after folks said it was better... and re-tried it again when folks again said it had gotten 'better'.

Bottom line:  SWG:NGE is nothing but a linear class/level grinder now, and as such will never be a game I can enjoy.  There is no meaningful customization.  A player of any given class will be exactly the same as any other player of that class... you cannot mix and match and make your own templates any longer.  It's all about what level you are now where before it was about what skills you brought to the table, what abilities you could use and how they worked.  Now it's just about 'what class/level are you?'.

SWG died the day the NGE went live for me.  May it rest in peace.

Whats really cute here is that I don't MIND playing those types of games.  My issue with SOE's choice to go that direction (other than, you know, the loss of everything I loved) is that there are other games that do it better.  SWG now playes like WoW, EQ, Vanguard...ect.  Why would I play IT when so many other titles offer me the same thing, but with more development and effort?

Answer:  I won't.  Neither with the vast majority of people, apparently.  I cannot fathom why.  :P

Lmao, it's just funny the OP comes on here pretending to be a returning vet who just "happens" to post screen shots for a game he calls by the wrong name...

It's pretty sad affairs when you have to stoop to those tactics to TRICK people into playing your game.  I will give SOE credit, at least they are creative, though obvious.

NGE is not the real problem the real problem of this game were Jedis! if thay were not playable class, this game would have never seen an NGE and would have had a total difrent direction, but no all the babys wanted to be jedi's...............
