Finally, the dalay had one good thing : the server was on while I had a day off!
For the ones 'loosing' a day of training, it's both not much and also we are always warned to set skills twice longer than the downtime or longer so they can rollback or reaply patches without too many pissed players...
As usual, the guys at CCP won't sleep until this is fixed... At least we can sleep, use those few hours of returning to real life, sleep, discover the world out of your home !
Always fucking extended downtime with this game : Makes me wonder why they can't patch the game easily like everyother mmo i've played? Put that with the insane amount of lag in most of the high sec space and then if you're in a fleet battle which the game is designed for it lags like crazy or the server dies. Then the freak lag moments and after it's finished you find yourself in a pod in a station and you ask to get your stuff back because it wasn't your fault that you lost it and they say no..........
They really fucking need to make MORE SERVERS!!!!! It's quite clear that the one they have cant fucking handle this many people.
Whine much?
1. I have played many MMOs and it is not uncommon for them to experience extended downtime. Why don't you learn some patience and accept that there are hard working people dedicating their lives to entertan you. Don't be so god damn ungrateful. Your $15.00/month does not entitle you to carte blanche complaining whenever you don't get your way.
2. About the lag. Name me one MMO that does not start to lag when large groups of people congregate? Have you ever played Second Life? It cannot have more than 100 people in an particular grid. Did you attend their Second Fest? It was the world's first virtual music festival. Once the headliners came to the stage and the grid became full, a player was lucky just to be able to receive the audio/video stream. Forget about moving.
Why don't you educate yourself as to why there is so much lag. This is the nature of our technology and the Internet. Simply put, most MMOs cannot handle large groups of people. It isn't all about the server of the company hosting the game. You must also take into consideration your own Internet connection, the route that your connection takes to connect to the server, the power of your computer AND your video card. How many people bitch about lag during large fleet battles and not even consider that maybe their computer can't render that much stuff on the screen at on time? I'm sure more than a few.
Lastly, if you've paid attention to Eve Fest 2007, CCP is trying to convert from traditional servers to super computers. This should vastly increase network connectivity but is still not a guarantee that lag will be 100% gone. What I don't get is why so many ass hats like to hang out in Jita when they know it is going to cause lag. And, as one developer mentioned, every time they are able to increase the capacity of Jita, that much more people come in and it is back to square one.
3. Eve-Online will always be a ONE SERVER game. This does NOT mean that the game is only run on one actual machine. There are many machines working in the background that make up the one server we all play on. All of us being part of one universe together is a HUGE MASSIVE appeal for playing Eve Online.
Again, appreciate the fact that you live in a modern society where nobody is actively hunting you down because of your skin color or religious beliefs. Appreciate that you are able and have the means to play a game such as Eve. Eve is not a game for complainers. Either suck up technical glitches, limitations and down time or go play WoW.
Good day.
blah blah blah....
All this extended downtime and no refund back and all the lag isn't acceptable and FYI I've played with over 100 people in one area on WOW and it didn't lag abit.
Thats cause they didnt render them...
I played on the Tournament Test Realm this week in WoW, somewhere around 300 people in one area, and there were constant crashes, 15 - 30 second lags etc.
I wonder why I as paying customer , am expected to accept this so called " they are working as hard as they can to fix the problem" from some people on many game forums.
People let me inform you about a constant within the business world. if you do not deliver the goods someone else will. I believe it is not only my right to demand top quality and on time delivery of a product I pay for. I am not doing the company any favor by accepting less than excellence from them. It would be a disservice to the gaming community as a whole not to express my dissatisfaction.
I work in the aviation industry and trust me our customers do not accept any excuse for not delivering our product on time. As a matter of fact there are substantial penalties for not delivering on time. If gamers would exercise some of their own economic power ,game companies would have no choice but to improve on delivering new content in a timely and professional manner.Until gamers do that ,then it will be business as usual in the gaming industry .An old saying comes to mind money talks bulls..t walks
I for one enjoyed eve for over 2 years . In fact so much, that I had 6 paying accounts. However when I finally did cancel all the accounts before I left I informed CCP as to the reason why. Now the ball is in their court . I gave them 2 years of my money, the least I owed them was my honest opinion of their product.
Good luck and fly fast to all the pod pilots out there
PaganWarlod aka : Alpha Naturi/ Omni Prime etc......
so you missed a few hours of training caus you stuffed up suck it up there is always more hours a day is nothing in the grand scheme of things database issues can and have caused havoc that lasts weeks before fixes are found ccp has probably spent time to save time
that said i did play eve for a little while and i found the lag was not all that bad as many other mmo's also eve is in the mean of what i have played time for patching wise tho i can not form a valid opinion because i didnt play for that long the main one i play now takes 10 min for a patch but there are up wards of 3 patches a week

Why do we accept the possible delays, downtimes and everything bad that may happen to the eve cluster?
Because we agreed with these terms when suscribing! We agreed that there is no downtime refund, that we play the game in the current state it is.
You work in aviation industry and I can just say it has not much in common with an MMO, in fact, you pointed yourself that contracts says there are penalties on delays. It makes hell of a difference.
I wonder what made you leave if you liked the game enough to have 6 accounts... Eve is not working worse than other MMOs I tried or heard about.
All I did was exercise my right not to accept less that what I expect from the product. CCP can use it's terms of agreement to cover its butt. I am ok with that to a point. Well that point has been reached for me. I am no longer willing to accept their terms of agreement. So I have canceled my accounts.
Do not worry to much for CCP they have more than enough folks who can and do accept their terms of agreement . I just don't include myself within that fraternity of player any longer.
