Quests in AoC will be more detailed and longer than ALOT of the quests in EQ2 and WoW. There will be many chain type quests which are basically connected in one LONG quest, so to speak. Plus there will be some that go into a CG type sequence, which is pretty cool! How many other MMO's have quests like this? LOTRO does this with the main chapter storyline quests, but thats it.
So please dont think the content isn't in the same league as EQ2 and WoW just because tehre are alot less quests than those games. Besides, it's about gameplay anyway and AoC gameplay is,,,, oh wait i'd be breaking the NDA if i finished that sentence, lol.. :P

isn't 800 quests kinda a low number? from mmodb everquest2 1356 (allakhazam has 4486) wow 4969 (al 6212) vanguard 3437 lotr 1662 (all 1475)
well i seen on a dev interview they sayed right off the bat you are not going to be killing rats or small puppies to start so you can kill all the crap quest the other games you talk about have right there and conan will have quest that chalange you not just go out and kill X number of mobs to get a reward so i cant wait for this game !!!!!

No, it will have LESS of these quests, they still exist in the game, its almost impossible to make an MMO without some menial quests.

Hard to tell what the quests are from the few vids I've seen but they kinda look similar. Ok no rats or puppies but I did see killing what looked like allegators and some bandits or something. Probably killing 10 bandits to rescue the damsel in distress hanging on the tree...
You can't really compare it to those games. This is 800 quests at the LAUNCH of the game. It is a starting point for the game, and while nothing has been said, I am sure that the number of quests will grow with the game as well. You have to consider the amount of time those other games have been out, EQ2 Has SEVERAL expansions, WoW has had some major updates and an expansion, Vanguard has been reworked and has been out for a year, and again, LoTR has also been out for awhile and has had several major add ons since its release.
Look at it this way, the game has a current level cap of 80, with 800 quests, that is 10 quests per level, which is really over all enough, because it possibly means one or several things:
1. Questing is not the main form of EXP gain, but is also combined with mob kill EXP gain.
2. The Quests are much more indepth and detailed, and hopefully are not full of boring and menial tasks, but instead interesting and developing things you can do, and will give you a larger reward for more challenging and focused work done.
3. The Number of Quests aren't going to be too overwhelming (I.E hit a new level, enter a new area and suddenly you are loaded with 40 quests at once to go off and do, complete them finally, just to find out each one has another chain that has to be completed.. ). I hate games where I get bogged down with too many quests.
So let's just wait for the open beta/release and see what happens. I for one am very happy to know there is not an absurd amount of quests at release!

Exactly. And if Mr Joel Bylos / quest designer and lore guru for the company pulled his finger out and poked it at marketing im sure he could come up with an awesome example!!
You could even co-present it with Helene, Joel, that would make the boys happy!!
