    2) open beta or mass (>8 people) pvping so that we could get an idea about client/server lag
Now then that is something I can agree on.

If it were up to me I would drop NDA when the game goes Gold.

I would also get some fraps action of the large scale PvP when its ready.

Avery, I would just like to add my thanks for your posts as well. I am definitely interested in trying out AoC when it launches & enjoy reading the thoughts of people who have already had a chance to try it. Whether I continue to play after the usual 30 day trial depends on how it goes, but I prefer to make up my own mind.

Currently I play EQ2 & have done so for several years. As much as I enjoy it, I feel like a change & maybe AoC will be it. I haven't tried WoW, because I just didn't like the artwork. LotR looks like a great game, but I haven't tried that either because setting the game in the middle of the story just doesn't work for me. I did try Vanguard and after all the hype it had pre-launch, was very disappointed. I don't regret trying it though.

I am not sure why some people are complaining about AoC related posts on an AoC forum. If they don't like the game, why read the forum? I assume they must really hate those few seconds when a new AoC related post appears on the homepage 'New Forum Activity' window.

Please continue to post on AoC though, I look forward to learning more about the game from someone who so obviously cares about it.

If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"?

Ahh someone from the homeland with a level head! Good morning to you!

No worries, I think the time that I had with the game pretty much hooked me in forsure. There are a few grey area's I hope they will have ironed out at launch, Im confident for this though. If you don't want to buy the game just to try it out, I'm looking into the possibility with my guild to spread out some spare buddies keys for launch. I had the idea that because the guild I am in is quite large and quite a few of us will have the collectors edition (with 5 buddy keys) I am interested in distributing these back into the community so people can make their own minds up about the game. Hoping to get a thread up with details first week of release.

I'd never push my own opinion on someone, just my own enthusiasm for the potential the game has. I've always got a kick out of playing with people who enjoy their gaming experience and I think (and hope) that AoC delievers the right ingredients for people to have a great experience and adventure!

I like to talk about the game, im passionate for it and its contents, sometimes that gets the better of me (sometimes, I know) but honestly there are a few good games out there and some promising ones coming. Hope you find something fresh and exciting for your needs.

Remember CVG back in the day, at all? They have always been alright I found for reviews in the past. They put forward some concerns in this article and im sure there will be more over the next couple of days. Its good to see the game from all viewpoints.

This is something CVG said back in January this year just for reference for the topic titles sake ha!:

    RIGHT DIRECTION

"Even if this game fails, even if all of the trucks and planes carrying copies of AOC to high street stores across the world crash and explode, and all of the developers succumb to a deadly curse, it will still have achieved something incredible.

It's kicking away at the fundamentals of the MMO genre by allowing players to interact with the world in a new and far more tactile way - something some people think impossible, but more people think exciting.

Still, having only spent a day in Hyboria, it's not possible to gauge exactly how well all of these highly ambitious features will hang together. Every time we wonder whether massive sieges will create crippling server-loads, we counter it by wondering how cool it would be to ride a woolly mammoth and attack people with its tusks.

Age of Conan is a determined step forward for the genre, and one we're hoping doesn't falter"

Stop attacking avery just because he posts alot of "stuff" about AoC, some of us are to lazy to be bothered trawling websites for stuff so avery is doing us a service, so leave him be.

Theres nothing wrong with hype and nothing wrong with living in reality, you have to take both with a grain of salt.

    Thank you avery.

Thanks for all the info Avery. I have been enjoying reading your insight and articles posted for awhile now.  I am looking forward to trying this game as the features stated are really refreshing in the MMORPG genre. Not to mention a more adult themed game as a bonus.

I have been playing these types of games for a long time too, all the way back to Major MUD. I am currently playing WoW and am looking forward to ending my subscription. However, I was burned on LOTRO, it wasn't my wife's or my cup of tea with what we believed were terrible character animations, water animations, movements and lack lustre skill system. The game's scenery was excellent but the gameplay was a big let down. Being from Australia, it costs us $89.95 a game on release date so I don't want to buy another game without being able to try it out first as money doesn't grow on trees.

Is there any information yet on when free trials will be available for the general public? I have been signed up for the beta for nearly a year now so i doubt I will get a chance on taking part at that. I would really like to try it as close to the release as possible so that I don't fall behind!

It would be nice if publishers offered a 30 day money back guarantee if you did not like the product. That way people could try the game.

WTH!?!? Is this guy on drugs or something? Or maybe he's off his meds, his comments are so random.

Anyhow, I don't see why you feel the need to bother defending yourself from these pathetic trolls Avery. Just keep posting the good stuff, because I'm way too lazy too look anywhere else for info on this game lol.

Interesting article but I guess it raised concerns due to some of the 'cautionary" nature of some of the writer's comments.

Something Avery mentioned concerns me as well.  The fact we haven't seen much on the large scale PVP and mounted combats, yet its less than 2 months until going live.  Seems like they should have revealed more than they have so far.

I'm starting to suspect that we'll still see a launch on May 20th, but some of this functionality might not be active or fully implemented at launch.

Not sure if some of you have seen the combat video yet: http://pc.ign.com/articles/861/861250p1.html

But I believe that Funcom will do a series of these leading up to launch showing the game and explaining whats going on the same time. I petitioned lately for these types of videos and it looks like it might happen. They are all fraps video parts in the back ground.

I think we might see one done in this vein on:

    Questing

    Large Scale PvP

    Possible mounts too.

However, the large scale PvP is the Key, we havent had a whole lot to go on. Its probably their biggest piece / chip and want to show it in its glory before release but at probably when the game goes gold.

Personally I want to see more in this area too, something non scripted. They will have to organise a beta event maybe and get someone from both sides to frap the action and then let Funcom mix it up. That would what I would prefer. Some action from the Beta testers, on beta tester machines.

OMG you guys, now Solar isn't going to play AoC. How will the MMORPG world ever recover?!

Seriously dude, you have some issues. I'm not a Conan hyper by any means, I might buy the game, but you... You just love to hate this game, don't you? How about you go back and play LOTRO (a game that most of us quit within 3 months of playing) and just try to be happy with that game? I know it's hard, considering the game isn't very fun or exciting, but come on. Avery has done a good job of giving people information in the*ding ding ding* Age of Conan section of this board. You can have disbeliefs and concern that Age of Conan will flop, no one knows what will happen. I personally think that Age of Conan will have some issues at launch, but I'll probably still buy it because if I dont, I'll have that nagging feeling that I'm missing out on something..

Solar you are the perfect example of someone who can dish it out but can't take it. If a comment from one person made you decide to never try out a game, then you have more issues then I originally thought.

Here is a good video on Mounts and has mounted combat in it. Either Game Trailers or the person who posted this to You Tube kinda screwed up the formatting in that they start it with the segement that is actually the ending of the demo. Watch all 5 minutes worth of it to get a good look.

I must say the mount's animations are pretty nice. The acceleration speed seems a little fast but maybe I've been playing too much Mount and Blade. I haven't done too much research on this game, is there a skill for mounted combat or is it like EQ2, where you can only do primary attacks from horseback and can't use skills? Either way it looks good IMO, and I love how you can attack with the mount itself.

*Nevermind I caught what the dev said at the end of the video.

So whats' the big deal if they delay it again? It's not like anyone is paying for it. And no, pre-orders don't count as payment.

If they delay the game long enough they could lost potential gamers to Warhammer.  That could lose them a lot of money.  Also, if it is delayed some people wont buy it, they will simply lose intrest.

Somebody truly interested in a game is going to play it whenever it comes out. Game hoppers may purchase a game but they end up flocking to the next big thing over and over. Do you really want to play with people like that? "The game was delayed, I refuse to play it now", sounds like "Oh no, we have to put off the raid until tomorrow, I don't want to be in this guild now".  Delaying the game should never hurt your opinion of the game if it is for valid reasons.

I don't get mad, I just get a bit tired of all the friggen Vanguard Comments. I've seen the game first hand for quite a while at the community event. Age of Conan is not like VG in the negative way you make it out to be.

Plus how do you expect people to react with some of stuff you say?

As Abraquel pointed out some people take offence to the VG comparison, and when pulling some of these quotes up from your post history, I refrained from posting the other 15 or VG and AoC in same thread bad stuff. I also noticed your a staut defender of LotrO. And im telling you the extact same things your telling people who bring up bad stuff about lotro, fact is I feel justified in the responses I give. But you can kinda see how the same stuff posted over and over again is distruptive? This forum had it all last year with a couple of people doing it.

Why cant i have 2000 posts on one topic?

Actually I met my wife way back in UO, I came in when trammel did and also got 3rd dawn after that left then had a long standing history in Runescape circa 2000 for a few yrs, played Shadowbane, Planetside, Ryzom, Lineage, DAoC, Guild wars from the start, Lotro tested from the December prior to the april following year launch then when back with the wife and have a few guys in an established kinship - she still plays I don't. And many more out there not worth a few weeks of play because it was too painful. I also play alot of RTS and sins of solar empire is really enjoyable for me atm.

There is a difference between "against the grain" and repetitive day in day out disruptive posting.

I am not out to change the world either!

I fail to see the point you continue to post here if your not out to play the game. It looks like you have already made your mind up long ago. Very confusing = split personality?

Thanks for yet another person attack . Thanks man, way to making me really not want to even OB or Trial this game.
