Yeah...I finally quit playing a couple weeks ago myself. The grind is horrible, and when you do achieve higher levels the content is incredibly Limited.
Everyone looks the same, albeit good (graphics), but the same.
L2 needs lots of content and work. I may come back in a year or two and see if it's worth playing. Oh, wait...no I won't. :P
Originally posted by Korpill I was told this game was alot better after like 25 + and the $ comes faster but the exp in this game comes alot slower than other mmorpgs?
hehe whoever told you that never played past level 25. Money comes a lil faster but nowhere near enough to give you the multiple million dollar sword and the 3 times more expensive armor.
Also, when u get higher level..thats when the hackers come in and try to crack your account to take your pretty items and weapons, etc.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
I got you all beat. I cancelled my account within 15 minutes of starting the game (not counting the wasted hour I spent autoupdating). The gameplay is wretched. The graphics aren't worth a damn... all the wonderful graphics and only 2 faces to choose from... I saw your brother/mother/wife/sister/whole family all in one character. Nice. He/she/it looked pretty... just like you...
Broodster, you had the right of it... this game sucks. I was surprised that a game could be this bad.
I was this close |..| to buying L2 when it first came out but decided against it. I have seen some cool pics and interesting stories from a friend who plays it, but the whole Chinese bots thing BURNS MY BRITCHES. I would never ever play a game that allows such a load to happen. Unless I have been getting bad reports of what is exactly going on in game.....
Well im playing this game and im getting tired of slow lvling. Its ok that in a mmorpg like in the 20's lvling is a bit slower but at lvl 10?? is ridiculous. The other thing that annoys me is dying since death in this game is horrible!! They take out like 7% of XP and thats like 15-20 mins of killin stuff and u might drop stuff!! Another factor that makes lvlin slow is those goddamn farmers/bots and the downtime for mages is very very long like 7 mins.
I'll quit soon and im gonna try conquer online since it is free and a free mmorpg is great.
I didn't find the level grind any worse than DAoC.
The death penalty is steep, but then I was one of 130 DAoC accounts that were bugged and spent over a year with 60% of total level exp penalty on death. When I reached level 34, Sanya sent those of us that were bugged an email recommending that we cancel our current accounts and start new ones as they could not fix the problem permantly. Everytime a patch would come out the super exp penalty would kick in and it would take 3-5 days for them to correct my account. When patches were coming out every week, that meant nearly half the time, you were scared to death to die. It took me over 1,500 hours to reach level 50 with my Shammy. I think I was doing far better with my Dwarf than my Shaman ever did.
To me, I found dying to some loser using the luck skill with a 3 million adena weapon and level 30+ skills not a lot of fun.

I didn't mind the grind as dull and boring as it was, but the equipment economy is ridiculous. I hate games where outrageously expensive and hard to replace equipment is what defines your character. But that is what keeps adena farmers on ebay going, so it's all by design.
The PvP elements are a joke. They should just remove the karma system since it doesn't benefit anyone except greifing, especially the luck skill. The luck skill is more useful to de-leveled PKers far more than new players anyway. Oh wait, that must be what the developers wanted in the first place too. But if (big if) the developers actually did something like remove the karma system the players can truly police their own as the death system has enough sting to keep most people from looking for trouble in the first place. Until they do that, Lineage II is a joke when it comes to PvP. 'It's your game'...my butt it is.
I really wanted this game to succeed but the exploits they allow to exist cannot be ignored. The game can be distilled down to one sentence...take many hours of your life and build up a character so you can do a limited amount of clan raids and seiges once every couple of weeks. It might take a few minutes or several months, but most people will eventually wake up, look around and ask themselves why they are playing this game. Like me, many won't like the answer. Yes, I'm only slightly bitter.

everything in this topic is true... i played in beta... its just one long grind until you hit your max level... where you'll grind money to buy the max armor... and after you get the max armor and the max level you can camp the dungeons like any of the botters in the game...
i hear theres a pvp battleground or some shit now also... castle seiges looked cool but SWG gots the same shit.... yeah i play SWG, i love it... but thats besides the point...
im saying if you want a game liek this there are way more out there... maybe not with the good graphicsw but it'll be funner....
seriously this game gots nothin going for it sorry... but its true.... dont buy it find another game... specially if you dont like doing the same things until you got no reason to do it... and then you are only left with doing what you've been doing for the past how ever long it took...

Erm you yourself said you were bugged .So while i feel your pain it was because you were BUGGED you had such a long grind. So of course it sucks for the 100 accounts as you state that had this problem,For the rest couple of hundred of thousands of accounts across the globe the grind was far less severe then the L2 one.
I pretty much followed the same path... This game is nothing but a disaster in my view right now, not so much due to the grind, I can handle that. but the chinese, the lousy costumer service, the sheer lack of content (there is absolutely nothing to do but grind, and castle siege every 2 weeks, which isn't nearly as good as it might initially sound), the messed up economy... I don't know, everytime I even try to log in the welcome screen spells out a huge BORING to me.
bah well..i just couldn't stand the grind anymore
and it's true, it's a high - end game, which means you have to be a high level to have much fun in it..
castle sieges, etc.
Not true, I went to castle sieges, I'm not impressed...it was a mess, with people killing each other left and right, an ocasional npc death and hey, when you DO manage to take a castle guess what you get from it? Yep, moneysink! Yay! Even if they were actually fun...2 hours of fun every 2 weeks for 15$ and about 100 of grind to make up for the lost experience? No thank you.
My main character was 45, I used to think that I wasn't having fun because I was 'too low level', then I tried my friend's char, a level 60ish with B grade equip.......yeah, just as boring, that made my mind about what to do with this game. My trashcan seems to be having lots of fun with it.
They have Dhevrin strung up on a collar like a slave (Dhevrin is the NA forum DEV/MOD and PR guy). The NCSoft guys in Korea is using him like a 2nd rate whore and he has no idea. I feel more sorry for him than I am angry toward him
Amusingly enough, Dhev quit, he wasn't fired, he quit, I wonder why? *insert large quantity of sarcasm*

and yes CoH is the same way
www.scarybadguys.com
The PvP/PK in Lineage 2 isn't "Level vs. Level" or "Skill vs. Skill". It's "My 1337 ub3r equipment vs. Your n00b equipment".
A level 75, same class, and same race will always have the same skills/stats.
Oh and, it took 2 koreans (share account) 24/7 playing for 52 days, yes, you heard right, 52 days to go from level 70-75.
I don't know how you can possible say Lineage 2's grind isn't any worst than DAoC.
Oh, and for the people with slower math, that is 1248 hours of playing Lineage 2 to go from level 70-75.

Well during the almost identical time of launch of CoH and L2 ,murti was one of those that went L2 and was quite excited about it.
Sad to see L2 has lost maybe its biggest fan on this forum
