I was in SWG beta, I played during launch, I quit and came back once before NGE and CU. And it was just as lore unfriendly back then too. Sorry but honestly I can't think of many instances in any of the movies where people were fighting with pole arms or swords. I don't remember any Doctors buffing people, or Tera Kasi artists either. Bacj then, I remember my Carbinneer/Fencer/TKA. I remember how in PVP I would constantly ploit the game mechanics and just keep knocking people down and keeping em down. I remember how I'd buy cases of Brandy and Crepes to buff myself so i could compete in PVP. How was any of that better than what we have now? I've just recently come back again, this time to play a Jedi. I had spent so much time trying to unlock my FS slot, and it never happend. Rolling my jedi was vindication in a way - it was a goal that eluded me for a long time, and it is somewhat gratifying to play one now. I think that overall, things are way better than launch. In fact, if this current system was in place during the launch period, I think the game would have been in a lot better shape now. Just my $0.02
I have to agree that if so much dev time was not put into all the radical changes SWG would have been in good shape today. I just wish they would release a classic server. Just one.

Yea a classic server would be great. It would even be fine Post-CU where MBH's were hunting Jedi's and PVP'ing for money like it used to be. Ontop of that I remember when SOE brought out the hunting of those boss npc's where they would drop some good loot to either sell or upgrade your equipment. That was some of the best times I had in the game.
I wish they would bring back that with just 1 server. They would have ALOT of re-subscribers if they did that.
What I would like is a list of the people DIRECTLY responsible for the NGE direction of the game. A list of everyone who either actively added to the change or signed off on it so that I can keep that list of names and check it against the credits of any games I might want to purchase now.
Kind of a sex offenders list for the MMO community. I really don't want any of these people participating in a game that I might invest any time or money on. People with that degree of poor decision making will find a way of ruining whatever they touch.
Umm Manbaby,? Valara is a woman moskowitz Ive actually seen pics of her during fanfest and a recent summit check the forums main SWG forums for a recent summit that took place at least 2 weeks ago posted by a melvader...

If you can't accept honest feedback to your output without it being couched in some kind of ego stroking on behalf of your client then you're a solipsisitic emotional cripple that cannot function with others.

Why do people cry so much about jedi? i didn't see 100's of bh's running around in the movies, i didn't see people running around in armor and weapons in front of stormtroopers. There is way more problems now and has always been besides jedi. Honestly, how many people do you think would have gotten the game if they didn't think they could become or play a jedi?
To answer your question, subs were around 250k-300k when jedi were either not in the game, or extremely rare.
I never had any desire to be a jedi, the only time most people took up jedi was when there was nothing else to do (at least in their minds) or because it was something to do after publish 9.
I think the notion that "people wouldn't play unless you gave them the opportunity to be a Jedi" is highly misleading and could be very easily challenged.

I didn't care about the Star Wars atmosphere too much (I played with friends and for the fun of doing stuff other than combat), so whether or not there were plain swords or laser swords, it didn't bother me.
Couldn't agree more, however the class-system they use now is rather dull and broken and I would much prefer something a bit more innovative over the typical "cookie-cutter". Still agree though, maybe the class system as it is would be less broken if it was the original concept.
