I'll be honest... It took me quite a while to figure out what class I wanted to play. But I believe I'm gonna kick this thread off with the Dark Templar. The thought of being encased in heavy armor, using a shield, and life-tapping won me over fast. I see the DT as potentially one of the better soloers in the game (granted he's a soldier archetype). There seems to be many different ways to play a Dark Templar as well. I'm probably going to try and absorb as much damage as possible while focusing on my lifetap abilities to potentially give me more life than I'm losing during fights. I'm looking forward to PvPing with the DT for sure.
What class do YOU want to play and why?

Assassin....Stygian Assassin, with a Camel named Robert.
also maybe a tempest (or is it Scion? i forget) of Set.
i play the assassin because thats my favourite class of ANY game and the Tempest of Set cus healing is fun and i like snakes
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
Ranger, through and through.
I don't know exactly what to expect from the class, but I know its the one I always play and something tells me that this game is going to offer the best and more accurate experience to what I love about Rangers and archery.
Here's to hoping anyway.
Tempest of set , the priest because evil healers are always my favorite plus the evil race in aoc look so damn sweet.
Anyways cant wait for this game .
Stygian Ranger
"Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..."
Chavez y Chavez
Well said , maybe i didnt totally do my homework on the races arrogant is good enough for me
thinking about an assassin or a bear shaman.
Stygian necromancer!
I'll probably go for a Conqueror. They seem to be the paladins for Age of Conan. And I intend to play a lot with my friends so being the conqueror gives me the opportunity to boost them a bit as well (aura) and debuff the monsters (bad aura) and do some damage of my own
But in the end I wanna play all classes ofcourse
A Barbarian, they're like a whirlwind with a sword...or hammer.
Il play the overpowered class, cause each time I pick a class I like, that turns out to be the crappiest and weakest class ingame.
Bear Shaman probably.
FINALLY! A topic discussing the game itself, not it's launch, shortcomings, rumours etc.
Judging by the previous posts, my choice was well taken. Well i usually always play the less appealing class, the class which is usually the less played one aka, wait for it............................ THE GUARDIAN!
That is indeed all.
P.S: I am in no way saying the class is no good, as we don't really know at this point, but i love tanking, and would prefer to play a not so popular one and OWN with it!
Demonologist first, Aquilonian Guardian second for me.
I want to be a Cyborg/Ninja that uses a combo of funky Disco dance moves and Ninjitsu to impress and awe his many foes even as he breaks their bones. Or a Tempest of Set they are both wicked ass kickers.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Give a fish a man and he will eat for a month!
I will be in the Ranger class. Love to be the 'sniper'.
Stygian Demonologist/Necromancer - Whichever one is the most fun will be my main.
demon
Aquilonian Ranger. I just love the fact that Ranger can use all the new features in AoC. Real time blocking, real time hitting with a sword AND ranged.
Cimmerian Barbarian
>> Live for nothing or die for something. Your call. <<
Proud member of the Snowhawk Clan, an Age of Conan guild.
Lots of interssting classes. Mitra, set or xotli.
Most prbably start out as an aquilonian or stygian healer.
Demonologist or necromancer
There are so many that I want to try, but I think the first two will be Demonologist and Ranger. Dark Templar, Assassin, Necro and Guardian all sound cool to me as well though.
Looks like a single me (Dark Templar) is going to be leading a whole bunch of Conquerers and Bear Shamans into battle lol. So far I'm still the only one who has his heart fully set on playing the DT Cheers to being different!
That's just because I read some info about it from some beta players saying the class needs still some tweaking. And having many options like shield, heavy armor and lifetapping abilities might seem good stuff. But eventually raiding and good groups are made of classes that have distinct and clear purposes. Like a damage dealer, healer and a tank. Being a class with a shield but not as many options as a guardian might have with shields is one point less. Being a heavy plated warrior wanting armor pieces like the main tank (guardians) might give you less chance on getting some, another point less. Lifetapping abilities nice and dandy but how well will they do versus bosses? I bet they'll resist quite some, another point less.
So yes it can be a very good class for some people but can also be a left out class for others. Then again for each class is something to be said about. Just wanted my view on why I swapped from Dark Templar to some other class (cause I picked it as my first option as well).
I'm not sure yet, myself. In WoW (the game I've been playing just to kill time) the class I played was a Rogue, but only got as far as lvl 46 until I just couldn't take the game anymore (the entire freakin' game is just reaching max lvl as fast as possible, and once you get there, if you even play long enough to get there, the PvP gets tiring fast). The assassin seemed kind of neat in this game but I'm somewhat sick of the "rogue" types. Then I looked at the Barbarian, and he definitely seemed pretty decent, yet I'm not sure why it's classified as a "Rogue", as it's probably the least stealthy character in the game. But I didn't like the fact that they have such low armor and (judging from the site's description of them and various interviews on the class) they'll have no way of healing themselves. They need at least some way of protecting themselves if their job is to basically attract the most aggro (adding to the fact that they're supposed to be the best melee AoE damagers in the game).
Then I saw the bear shaman. I've always liked playing a healer of sorts but I was never really good at it in previous games that I've played, so I stuck with melee classes (which are pretty much my preference and specialty). Looks like the winner for me. Medium armor, and from what they describe possible damage outputs equal to a Rogue, and heals done through damaging opponents(!). I always liked the "hybrid" classes in all games, because they offer the most diversity. I think it will be a nice change for me to switch to this sort of dmg dealer/healer instead of the regular bash and smash type.
Some other classes that interest me are the DT (in a way, the "evil" version of the bear shaman), xotli (mage/soldier sounds sweet), and set (healer/mage, which just seems like something different for me for a change). The game is definitely pumping out some diversity for it's classes, which I like a lot. If the barbarian proves itself to have at least some sort of survivability without a healer having to protect it, then I'll probably try that one out too.
If only SW:TOR could be this epic...
