From what I'm reading from people in beta who are breaking their NDA the game is hugely in need of more development time. I gotta say I hope they delay the release or I'm afraid this is gonna make Vanguard look polished at launch. And we know what that will do the the long term subs for the game and any hope for future development.
I will almost guarantee what your reading is a few months out of date. If its anything to do with meelfox / oldboy or whatever, was actually banned from beta a while back and keeps rehashing 4 month old videos and reports without knowledge of latest goings on.
I don't know why people get so worried for. The devs themselves say everything is on target, there has been lots of testing.
But to base your concerns over outdated material and a lot of assumptions from people is pretty silly in general don't you think? Around 4 weeks to go more or less till the chance of NDA being dropped in an Open Beta state of affairs agreement "chance".
I can understand that everyone has a bit more of a peeked interest around here, but really we should pass judgement on the final version. And this isnt anything nasty or bad directed at you Ethion. I just really think its silly to assume as facts info from that one website.
There are also alot of people around here who can't wait to show some game hate.
I hope the game is good. I still have my preorder so more then anything thats a statement of what I'm wanting to happen. And I surely don't want to have the game delayed at all. But on the other hand I know that if it releases and is a buggy pile of crap it will never recover. Some of what I've read about the game I love, some things I'm cautious but willing to give it a try (the combat system). But the info I've read isn't old it was info that was proported to be current from the current beta boards. I've also gotten this from multiple sources including one person I know who is in beta.... I just wish he lived in my town.
So while the devs are saying everything is gonna be good, really what else would you expect them to say. Avery I know you have seen the game and seem 100% confident that everything will work out. I wish I had that kinda confidence but I guess thats why open beta and removing the NDA would do a world of good. As the release date gets closer the level of FUD is going to rapidly ramp up and the closer it gets without opening beta or at least lifting the NDA the more people will panic.
So back to the original comments if there is any validity to the stuff I've read I really hope they reconsider the release date and push it back. We all know what will happen if the game is released with major bugs...
Do you think that AoC's release date of May 20th should be pushed back a bit? For me, I just feel that they are slightly rushing themselves.. But I would much rather the game be delayed then turn into a Vangaurd... Should the game be released? Explain you answer
Well.. if the game is buggy/laggy Then yes, it should be delayed.
If the beta testers are doing a thorough job though and they can release a playable game without major issues, then they can release it.
Are you beta testing the game? What information are you even basing your opinion on? Why do you think they are rushing?
It probably nees a push back in order to add all the pvp promises it had like siege warfare and borderkingdoms and stuff, mob itemization and so forth, and things like spellweaving.
Even if there is a miracle build with all that stuff which also grants server stability so players don't crash to log in every 5 minutes, the game will still have to deal with being a fairly mediocre buttom masher with limited depth and linear zones. =p

I personally love that word (the one highlighted in red obviously). It's something that has come up recently and has been repeatedly stated as a -bad- thing for any MMO.
However, could anyone please point me to a game that doesn't have so-called button-mashing inherent to it? Please? Just one game!
OK, here's my personal list of games that -have- button-mashing:
WoW - quite obvious, isn't it?
EQ2 - Quite the same as the above
EVE Online - Either click or use short-cut buttons...so maybe a mixture of mouse-bashing and button-mashing?
CoX - again, press buttons to do stuff.
Star Wars Galaxies - ....you guessed it, you press buttons, something happens.
DAoC - ...are you beginning to see the pattern?
Anyway, my question is this. When did Button-pressing become something bad in an MMO? Seriously. Or is it just pressing -one- button? Because from everything I've seen and heard (my little birds again ), that's not what you do in AoC either. So I am at a loss.
Back to the original subject of the Thread. I hope they do not delay, but if they did: please let us know today, tomorrow or the day after that! But do not wait until let's say the end of April.
All these people, especially me, are getting their hopes up to receive their pre-order CE-edition in the mail (imagine the feeling when you open the CE-box and see all the items. You start installing the Client and you're like 'hurry it up! I can't wait any longer!').
Delaying when the release date is in sight would be too painful to overcome. But I have to admit: if I'm in the General Beta and get to test the game I couldn't care less if it's delayed or not. NOT being in the Beta and just having to watch footage and read Forum Posts makes it as hard as it is. It's like the inner MMORPGer within me is craving for a fix since I'm currently not playing anything.

Personally I don't think it should. Having been following this game since april 2006 way before it was even on mmorpg.com I offer my two cents on the discussion.
Age of Conan : Hyborian Adventures was aimed to be released on october the 20th but then had a extension until march to sort out unwanted features and such. Then the further delay was for removing bugs and polishing and within the first 1 - 2 weeks they released a 2 gigabyte patch, and further patches have been introduced, alot of bug cleansing has been done so personally I don't think they are rushing it, I have faith in funcom on this, Besides all we must do is wait until April the 27th. If there is no mention of a delay then then it is hugely unlikely there will be one because that is when the Master Disk is used to produce copies of the game.
Oh a side note, The people from the NDA breaking site actually admitted publically that most of their information is over exaggerated. Plus most beta players now agree with it is NEARLY ready to be put out (but by far enough to be out for may 20th) and the ones that don't will not have played it in the past 2 weeks.
The thing is.. He's asking "should they". A lot of people are just giving their wishful thinking replies. If the game needs delayed, then it needs delayed. There are other thing's people can do with their time, and when the game comes out, we'll all have a better release.
The mentality of , just release it now I'm tired of waiting is why we get so many broken, not ready to be released games, because you accept it.
The only thing I hope for is that the minimum level isn't too fricking high for riding a mount since most of us have pre-ordered and received a free mount. It would be a slap in the face if you had to look at your mount for 40+ levels and couldn't use it! Why the hell did they give one for free then? It's like buying a Porsche but not being able to ride in it for a month
Yeah that mount you get with your pre-order can only be used in the Borderland skirmishes, so ur looking at like lvl 70+ prolly lvl 80 before u can use it!
Only horses are available to ride in the world until then!
partially true.
That mount can only be used in sieges, npc city battles and skirmish's which means level 40 up
You can use rhino's and mammoth's that you buy in game in the real world though, not only horses.
I would buy the stock now, and 2 days before release "Sell" nothing against Funcom but just a smart thing to do. Make money and play it safe. I made some good money doing just that.
That really doesn't make sense as you'll lose if they announce another delay.
To make a lot of money, don't buy it--just short sell it the day before release and close out after it falls, or if they announce another delay, buy after it falls.
Just look at the funcom chart at finance.yahoo.com
August 9th--stock falls off the cliff--August 10th--delay to March announced.
January 17th--stock falls until January 21st when May release is announcd.

I dont think the game needs the delay, personally, for my lasts experiences, the game is growing so fast, polishing some problemas but it gives me the feeling that is already done.

This is true and AoC is no different. If FunCom wants to make a statement about their company they should delay - if they feel the game is not truly ready to be launched. Face it AoC is over hyped as are most new game launches and in this current market FunCom would be wise to delay so that they do not get another black eye as they did with Anarchy Online. FunCom really needs to make sure their game is "ready" for prime time because we all know how unforgiving the MMORPG players are these days.
From my take of things it should be delayed atleast until Oct. Remember this is just my opinion, but FunCom will of course be the one that makes the final call as to whether it does go live on the 20th.
The launch is everything for big budget mmos these days. WAR being its only competition Funcom should definetly put in more time to polish their product. They will gain nothing against WAR if they launch even a year earlier if they release a buggy product . Also let's compare the 2 companies track record, as in their last mmos. DaoC released very stable, solid, perhaps lacking in a few high end features. It had record sales in the first week I believe and is still considered by many a great game(not by me) . Anarchy Online , disaster of a launch, I was there, unplayable . The only reason it survived was that it was a pretty good game and they fixed it up eventually. Hopefully Funcom learned something from that experience.
I can't forget about the elephant in the room which is WoW. While I don't believe any of the upcoming games pose and threat to it, there is a lesson to learn from any Blizzard product. They release late, and they are solid. They are accessible. That could be the big problem for AoC actually. Even if it releases relativly bug free, from all the lil factoids I'm hearing about it the game is far from accessible. Time will tell, but they should definetly stick to things they can actually fix at this point, and release a stable product.

Watch the stock--kind of interesting.
What happened last summer to push it to $40, and what sent it down to $19 in January? I'm interested if anyone knows.
The release date announcement sent it back up and it's now at $34.
My guess is, buy put options or short sell if they announce another delay.

Delay if it is not ready. If it is then they should launch it. Pretty simple.
/agree
Even more content can be added later, is pretty sad to launching a buggy game. Anyway well find out soon.
