Alot of my friends and guildmates said that this would be the fate of Darkfall, meaning another skill based mmo would come along and Darkfall followers would jump ship. Its cool that what they said came true. Game makers need to think twice before they ( think ) that they have somthing so very special. Darkfall dev's have bull%^&*ed its community for far to long, now look..... Fate, she is one cool chick.

As the trolls like to remind us ... if it's not in beta then it's just vapourware

Its a good sign we are finally beginning to some new sanbox MMOs in development, we have been waiting for seven years : (  Doesnt that seems to be a bit weird. All we had was DF.

All I can say is that Mortalonline looks sick , hopefully they can manage to pull it of, unlike Darkfall.

That video on the main website is sick....if the end result comes close to that this game will be by far the best looking game in production.

Doesn't say anything about game mechanics though....one can only hope.

Already looking at those forums, just looks like a new Darkfall forum.  Lets just hope it dosnt end up being a site for waiting around like 5+ years and still nothing.

Infact im quite suspicious its the Darkfall people just taking the piss at everyones expense.

      *sigh*

I hope I'm not having to repeat myself on subjects discussed here in a new forum later on because ANOTHER team decided to shoot more from their mouths than from their hands.  It IS nice to see the zealots for Darkfall actually take a meaningful move here...hopefully they stop thinking about DF at all and teach these "we're too smart to show off our game!" types a lesson in proper handling of an MMO business.

That said, I'll continue my reservations about ANY new game talking a lot and talking early.

Oh, and to friction....a game doesn't need to be in beta to cease being vapor, why they could just as easily bring a playable build of the game to the media (and possibly even get paid to do so if the hype is big enough to ensure that said media outlet will see an increase in sales as a result) to show that they are actually DOING, or are capable of doing, what they swear they are..

Hey...doesnt Mortal Online fit the guidelines for having it's own Forum on MMORPG...I mean it meets the same requirements as DarkFall

    It's an MMO

    It has a Website

It has no publisher or Beta yet (hehe this one kills me)

Give us a Mortal Online Forum :)

If this game actualy turns up to be a nice none skill spamming game then it would rock. What im dreading of is another Fury game, basicly cool looking graphics and effects but in reality combat is dull, repetive, boring and frustrating.

Who cares if it is Darkfall or Mortal Online. All I know is that this industry desperately needs a hardcore sandbox MMO.

Please take me away from all the carebears and the whiners. I am so sick of going from one linear MMO to another. I am bored of games that are designed for the casual crowd. Simply put, I am an addicted MMO gamer and I want something as hardcore and realistic as possible. I want a true virtual world, not just another game.

Currently playing: No MMOs. They all suck.

The only sad part is that the Darkfall community will try to turn the Mortal forums into a slum like they did to the Darkfall forums. I just hope that the Mortal forum mods dont let people get away with things or play favorites like the Darkfall forum mods do. Its good to see more skill based, sandbox mmo's in the works.

  • airstrikeairstrike Member UncommonPosts: 373

I agree, another true sandbox mmo would be awesome, the only true sandbox mmo we have atm is EvE online, dont get me wrong EvE rocks but till they release the moving in stations and on planets patch. It would be nice to have an alternative atleast half as good as eve on the ground.Preferably something set in the future and not more games with elfs.

I've think Mortal sounds promising, but it doesnt mean I won't play Darkfall. I go were the games sounds intresting. We're at Darkfall likes thats there are others who know how to make a challenging game.

    • Darkfall
    • Mortal
    • Well Online
    • Fallen Earth
    • Earthrise

    The future looks promising.

The Sceptics, yes they're special but we've need them to.. I guess.
And if they're put more effort MMORPG.com can create a 'Team Sceptic'

Promising yes,but I dont realy put my faith in today's mmo devs, they are all out for money ,no fun and no sense of duty towards their customers.

Looks very interesting. Nice with one more game worth following after all shit we seen last years.=)

Sandbox, full PvP, skillbased and hopefully full loot. Video looks really nice and a own board would be fun.

Cool.   Going to have to keep a lookout for this one.  That video at the end where the two guys meet in the cave and are about to fight...LOL!    Nice.   I wonder if they'll post some ingame screenies and give us a little look at their UI as well.   Looks interesting.  I like the 1st person view concept, but I am not so sure the general MMORPG populace will like it.   MMORPG players tend to like to be able to see their toons "do" things.

Seems the ones making the game is Swedes, as me.=)

    About Star Vault

Star Vault is a newly started company with the goal to become the leading innovator in development of Massive(ly) multiplayer online role-playing games (MMO-RPG).

The founder and CEO, Henrik Nyström, is a true gamer with his heart on "the gamer's side" and the vision to develop a dramatically improved gaming experience. The team today consists of hand-picked developers and 3D-artists with the same goal as Henrik. Recent years Henrik has been developing the game plan, project name NOW, in which new features and experiences for the gamer is described in detail.

When the opportunity arised to be able to use Epic Games Inc. state of the art game engine - Unreal Engine 3, the idea to develop the best gaming experience for MMO-RPG came a lot closer.

Today the idea and the vision has materialized as the company Star Vault, a dedicated team, a firm plan for development of NOW, a board with experience to facilitate the financial and business development of Star Vault and access to the capital markets through the public listing on Aktietorget in Sweden.

After NOW there will be more games, new ideas that need to be put into action. We believe we have the capability and ambition to stay in this business for a long time.

    Welcome to Star Vault!

I have to admit that is a very nice teaser video.  Very cinematic and entertaining.   I liked it better than the Darkfall teaser which just keep listing so many broad claims, Mortal Online was a bit more restrained.

Of course, a pretty teaser is meaningless.   We need to see what the gameplay looks like.   And how this First-Person view will work in their MMORPG.  But it does show they know how to do cinematics at least.

Looking through their features, they seem to have some neat ideas.  The shared 'Deva/Soul' for multiple characters could be an interesting mechanic.  They seemed to imply that the power of your chosen god wouold be effected by the number of players worshipping him, that could be interesting.  Or troublesome lol

I also agree that it's quite possible to follow more than one game at a time.    We'll have to see how many delays this game will have :)

I will add it's kind of creepy how they say Mortal Online has been in planning since 2002.  But clearly these guys knew better than telling anyone about it.  It's like the game is some kind of weird, alternate-reality version of Darkfall.

I haven't have time to read the full topic, but just because you join another page, it doesn't mean you're jumping ship, most people follow more then one game at a time <.<'.

Ahh yes, this game does look very interesting, although I do believe it's in early development...Mabye I'll come back in 2 years and read up on it then.  Very interesting though.

    *please God no vaporware*
