Yeah, CCP/White Wolf is working up a World of Darkness MMO from their Atlanta studio.
Requiem: Bloodymare is entering closed beta in a few days, though I'm not sure if it quite qualifies as "horror" yet.
As for the next project, I'd like to see Turbine take what they've learned from DDO and LOTRO and build a sci-fi game for a change. Maybe a DDO-esque control scheme and more active combat but open worlds, etc. Maybe space travel and combat, though I'm not overly concerned about that since it typically devolves into generic circle-jerk fights. Outdo Tabula Rasa and give Stargate: Worlds some competition...
Although there's that part of me that would love to see AC2 brought up to date, fixed up, and resurrected too...
If it is popular enough...you can always add an expansion in Planescape and then add any other world next.
However...DDO is an ACTION game. No matter how much I try to look at it...I can't. You may as well ask me to play a baseball game...add the fact it is a raiding game in the end...and I would have felt extremely miserable and unhappy. All in all, since it is a raiding game, it was better that I quit fast because it was an action game. Betraying a player later in game is way harsh...and not sure I could substain 1 more such betrayal before giving up on MMOs and the Internet completely. Too many such betrayals already...me wanna cry...

mmm Anof I would normally agree with you on the raiding part but I've tried it and it's not bad. It's NOTHING like the 'raiding content' in EQ or WoW or any number of other games. Raids are just more intricate dungeons that require 2 groups instead of just 1. I've been on 2 raids thus far since returning to DDO 3 weeks ago and, frankly, they're not bad.
Nothing like the 'wait around for 2-3 hours for everyone to show up' like back in EQ people just form up a raid group and go... all you have to do is make sure everyone is raid-ready before the date of your raid, which is fairly easy to do even in random PUGs.
But even then you don't really have to raid if you don't want to. Plenty of folks don't though they are quite fun to do, especially the first time... the Dragon raid was an absolute blast, loved it when I tried it for the first time. I also did the "TS" raid (forget the full name) and had a great time on that as well. Total time on each of these 'raids' was a little over an hour... I think 1.5 for the dragon raid.
That said... it's a PVE game... in that scenario you're pretty much stuck with 'high end content' becoming more and more raid oriented since they don't have a PVP endgame available. Personally I hated raids in EQ, DAOC, etc. Pretty much because they took so freaking long. So far, if the two raids I've been on in DDO are any indication, that's not the case in DDO

I think the next Turbine project should indeed be Dungeons and Dragons Online 2 - set in the Forgotten Realms and using an enhanced LOTRO engine. The LOTRO engine lends itself perfectly to the D&D worlds, with beautiful DX10 graphics and wide open areas (Not instanced) and I think, since Forgotten Realms is one of the most popular worlds for D&D and with the new 4th Edition ruleset coming out (Tiefling starting race, anyone?) it would be an awesome Cash Cow for Turbine (who already have the D&D licence). Heres hoping....
Not tons into all this but arent FR and planescape etc being discontinued with the new edition ? hence why DDO was made with ebberon. Making all speculation etc totally void.
I'm not a D&D player but I can't imagine canceling Forgotten Realms since it's been such a cash cow for two decades. One of the strengths of D&D was that they always supported and encouraged multiple campaign settings. Eberron is the only (I think?) original setting to come out since WotC took over the IP but I can't imagine they'd force only Eberron down everyone's throats.
I did read, however, that the Dragonlance license was not being renewed. That was several months ago, however, so perhaps that is no longer the case?
If they did a DDO2, I would like to see them make a DDO engine for handling the basic rules. But design the game in such a way that would allow them to add in different game worlds such as WoG, DL and FR. Keeps everyone happy.

Obviously not, Forgotten Realms pre-order page for fourth edition:
Actually, to be totally honest, the Forgotten realms world was not very well thought out and really didn't make much sense. That said it IS more familliar to most D&D players. Personally I prefer Greyhawk... even though that map was even worse than FR.

Ebberon does not interest me at all. There's very little, if anything, I like about it. I would have much prefered what "I" was familar with when I had played AD&D although...it's not the same.
I do not play pnp games anymore and haven't looked at a D&D book other then my old one's from the 80's and even then it was for nostalgia.
The DDO setting works and it's quite clear why Eberron was chosen as a setting - to support the current line of products. Tie-in's can be done well and I would like to see a more generic tie-in with "legacy" settings and modules; Tomb of Horrors anyone?
Eberron is imho one of the best D&D setting ever made together with Ravenloft. But let's be honest, noone's gonna make Ravenloft MMORPG (not even a single player RPG)
Forgotten Realms is just a generic fantasy world, like every other. Yeh it was one of the first, but when there are at least 10 other MMORPG currently on market that has that generic fantasy world, why to make another one. Just because it has Waterdeep, Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, Calimport and Drizzt? Eberron is unique, dark fantasy punk world with frequent magic and varius clockwork/mechanical wonders.
Ravenloft... that would certainly be one way to grab some additional interest. I recently picked up DDO.... had there been Ravenloft, I would've picked it up at launch, for sure.
Having not played a traditional pnp game in years (>10 since I've played D&D via pnp), that would be one 'IP" that I wish someone would get around to rolling out.
As for graphics.... sure, it should look 'nice', but I know a lot of games that 'look nice' and have terrible game play. Stay true to the IP and use an engine that works... but make sure the game is fun to play, doesn't feel like a 2nd job, and can keep players interested for 7-10 months of gameplay. After that, release an expansion.
Anyway... as others have said, Ravenloft would be great.
But Ravenloft without perma death or very very harsh death penalty wouldn't be a Ravenloft at all As it is said, Ravenloft has very few heroes, and most of them are low level. Higher levels get usually corrupted by a darklord (domain master) or they don't survive that long ;p Very high mortality, almost as in Cthulhu.
Actually, to be totally honest, the Forgotten realms world was not very well thought out and really didn't make much sense. That said it IS more familliar to most D&D players. Personally I prefer Greyhawk... even though that map was even worse than FR.
Agreed, I felt Greyhawk was a much more developed and richer world. I kinda liked the fact that I was not at all familiar with Eberron prior to DDO and I have gotten more interested in the world since playing.
Eberron is also a well-fleshed out and developed world with some interesting unique twists on fantasy. I must say so far I am enjoying Eberron. (Of course it also might have something to do with me being in love with Warforged, I played them even when we were gimp and didn't get all our immunities)
Forgotten Realms and Greyhawk have been done to death. I'm glad Turbine went with Eberron. It is a pleasant change. However, if there was to be a DDO2, I would request Krynn above all else.

'Sandbox MMO' is a PTSD trigger word for anyone who has the experience to know that anonymous players invariably use a 'sandbox' in the same manner a housecat does.
When your head is stuck in the sand, your ass becomes the only recognizable part of you.
No game is more fun than the one you can't play, and no game is more boring than one which you've become familiar.
How to become a millionaire: Start with a billion dollars and make an MMO.
I'd love to see someone take Planescape out for a drive for an MMO endevour. That would be great to see Sigil and the other planes again. I've played Torment on and off for years, and it's been a favorite ever since I first got it. I've been trying to find the original Planescape box set but to no avail. They're always outbidding me on Ebay, lol.
I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
Planescape with all the planes added would be awesome, they could even introduce dark sun, forgotten realms and other through expansions. That game should feature more complex system than D&D to work as a MMO though.

The fun thing about DDO 2, 3 or 4...

Dream come true
I am not DDO player, but if the game was set in Forgotten Realms setting i would play it.
I hope there is a FR setting mmo in the near future.
P.S. Necro!!!

Personally I am FR'ed out, the world itself was pretty generic.

Planescape world will then logically be released a bit later as well (called Manual of Planes), because it uses the same universe as Forgotten Realms.
REALITY CHECK
I'd play if There was a forgotten realms world!!!!
Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR.
Playing EVE Online and AOC.
Wtg for SW:TOR and WOD
FR for life!

Fogrotten Realms, Ravenloft, Planescape, or even Spelljammer would appeal to me more than Ebberon.
If I could have anything, however, I'd go for Dark Sun. Loved that setting. Loved the two CRPs as well.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
