    About frontier 1859..

I am starting to think that that site is all scam they have wanted funds a couple of years now and havnt come any closer yet.. 6 years without releasing the game and I bet that it is lots of peoples that have given them funds and stuff. hmm and 1 more thing money arent needed to release a game I think but I am maybe wrong.. isnt it possible to release a game and tell the crew that they will get a procentually (or how it spells) cut of the money that they will get by selling the game? Now the wild west: gunfighter  will be released this spring and I dont think they have worked with the game 6 years. I would like it if frontier 1859 is not a scam because I really love the wild west idea..

From the wording and the way they throw the word scenario around I would expect another "Theme Park" type MMO. Not to say there is anything wrong with that I just think we have enough of that type already. It's getting very stale.

I think that the old west is a criminally underrepresented setting for an MMO.  I really hope that it turns out well, and that any use of a cash shop won't doom the game like it has so many others.

Hm, I'll keep on eye on it but I don't have much hope for it.  Maybe I'm just jaded.

To be honest, a Wild West based MMO sounds pretty lousy to me.  I guess it is mostly because I can't relate to that time period and would not be interested in living in an era of such blatant lawlessness (not to mention uncleanliness).

But the blatant lawlessness and uncleanliness of medieval games you can relate to?

I registed and was waiting to play something like an MMORPG... but i played a 1vs1 shootout... turn based with a combination of movements.... is that all?

no walking around? find some horses to go places, go to a bar a play poker, fighting with drunks, robbing people/banks or even protecting them as a sherif?

is that all? all i do is click those 3 buttons to try and fool the opponent? Why are there so many screenshot of big places to walk around?

"hey, u wanna go have a shootout with me?" doesnt seems a good game so far...

A "True Grit" Western MMO historically speaking couldn't stand up against today's Politically Correct nay sayers. I'd call them out for being Yellah! Go get 'em Mongo!

This is a shame, because if it were modelled after SWG....mechanics-wise, this could be a definite treat. Alot of the skill classes will sound familiar to alot of you.

Here are my 32 professions for a Western MMO:

    1. Gunslinger / Pistoleer
    2. Bartender
    3. Train Engineer
    4. Train Conductor
    5. Railroad worker (Track Layer, Switchman, Telegraphy, Dock Laborer)
    6. Preacher
    7. Miner / Prospector
    8. Logger
    9. Blacksmith
    10. Gunsmith
    11. Telegraph Office
    12. Banker, (Mint and Assayer Office)
    13. Dry Goods Merchant
    14. Fur Trapper
    15. Fur Trader
    16. Soldier, Calvary
    17. Farrier Stablehand (Horse tamer, trainer and maintenance)
    18. Scout, Hunter
    19. Rancher (Horses, Cattle, Sheep) Bahahaha!!!
    20. Rifleman
    21. Barber / Image Designer
    22. Tailor
    23. Entertainer
    24. Leather Worker
    25. Farmer
    26. Carpenter
    27. Law Man (Sheriffs and Deputys)
    28. Judge, Lawyer
    29. Town Mayor, Politicians
    30. Doctor
    31. Bounty Hunter
    32. Outlaw (Highwaymen, Bank Robbers, Horse Theives, Claim Jumpers, Poker Cheaters, and Town Drunkards)

Player Character should be any Nationality, creed and skin color imaginable. The whole point of a Western was to bring civilization westward. A Town's social dynamics would be interwoven dependancies between each class, and since Humans are not specialists, we should be able to mix professions up to the extent of a limited number of skill points just like the old SWG templates had. You could feasibly be WANTED in one town, and be a Law-abiding citizen of another town so long as the Bounty Hunters dont find you. Player towns should be built from scratch using the crafting professions listed.

Thats completely right, this is just the dueling system for our MMO. Those things you mentioned will all be coming in the full MMO.

There is much more to it though than just 3 buttons and trying to fool the opponent. There are 30 levels, each of which let you choose a new gunfighting skill from a 100 item skill tree. There are lots of items you can get as loot or buy in the store with money you earn from gunfights. There are weather and other environmental effects, and legendary gunfighters who will challenge you and drop rare items!

It sounds like you only played the first tutorial game out of three, which means you only saw a fraction of the level one stuff. We start introduce the game elements over the course of three gunfights so that people who aren't experienced gamers won't be confused by too much to learn all at once.

The screenshots are from the game environments, where duels take place -- those same environments will be used in the MMO. And as I mentioned above, the environments will have an effect on game play

You might be wondering why we released just the dueling system separately. The answer is simple. We are a small indie studio, and we will use the revenue from this game to fund the development of the rest of the MMO.
