To get into beta , you have to stay at your computer all day long, and you still probably won't be quick enought to get a key when they come out
Why not just email random people? This is ridiculous

It is still an choice of you own and it is not that FP is forcing you to do so. The world will not be gone if you do not get into Open beta, so that it easy and give you F5 button some rest.

The only reason I got a paid subscription to Fileplanet was for the AOC beta. Now they are gonna screw me out of it

If you don't get into the beta, Funcom can be the first to give you a return of your money if not satisfied.

Solution: Get Comrade. Ya, I dont like using stupid crap like that, but I left it open and turned my speakers up real loud. Then, when the chime when I got an IM went off, I went in and sure enough they opened up more keys. I clicked the link and BAM. There was my key.
Try it, it works.

If you want into the fileplanet beta, sign up, and then download comrade. Comrade will send you a msg as soon as keys open. Granted you still have to be at your pc, but you dont have to be spamming the f5 button.
As for a paid beta... its not a paid beta, funcom isnt getting anything but advertising. Funcom gave Fileplanet the rights to the beta, and fileplanet is charging you 7 bucks. (unless you sign up for longer than a month, then silly you)
Many of us already had fileplanet memberships for access to exclusive betas.
The nice thing about fileplanet is download speeds and a good service. Unlike gamespot where the dl took 10 - 12 hours if you were extremely lucky, most people with top end broadband got it in under 4.
Im sorry some of you feel your getting screwed over, but beta is a priviledge not a right, and fileplanet is the industry standard for some reason atm for betas.
Tabula rasa used it, LOTRO used it, COD4 used it, Frontlines... pretty much everyone for the past 3 - 4 years has used FP to get out their betas mainly due to their network. Warhammer will do the same.
So... if you dont like FP... dont use it. If you want beta access sign up and get comrade and get your key.

I am not judging them, but can you see the irony here?

You like Darkfall and thats ok. But do you not understand that by trolling both DF and AoC forums you are chasing away potential future Darkfall subscribers and you are only hurting the game you support (in a weird way I might add).

A: Funcom isn't charging you anything, Fileplanet is.
B: Nowhere does Fileplanet offer any sort of money-back satisfaction garauntee. A lot of products don't.
C: They offer what they offer, they can get away with offering anything they feel like. Just like any other product on the planet. Other the other hand, you don't have to buy it, welcome to free market economics.
Clearly Funcom gave the beta to Fileplanet because Fileplanet makes it's money from subscriptions, so Funcom get's a 50,000 man stress test for free. Makes sence to me.
Funcom does not owe you anything, this beta and all beta's are for their benefit, not yours, and this model clearly benefits them. When you actually become a paying customer of Funcom (Funcom, not Fileplanet), then they will owe you something. They are not your friend, they are business selling a product.

No you don't. People waste their cash or not, nothing you or I or anyone else ever said is going to change that. We all come here to discuss and debate our opinions, but most of us aren't deluded into thinking we're making some kind of diffrance in the world.
There are three kind of people:
1) People who already are Fileplanet subscribers.
2) People who will subscribe just for a shot a beta.
3) People that aren't subscribe and won't subscribe for a shot at 13 days of AoC beta.
The descisions have been made, and nothing you or I say is going to have any effect whatsoever, so please don't act like you doing anyone any favors.

This whole fileplanet thing is total bullshit no doubt about that. I'm surprised how many suckers are willing to pay 16 bucks for a 2 week limited beta that they have to basically camp out at their computer and wait for a chance to get a key. No thanks, I'll just wait for the 17th or wait til they start giving away keys to non-paid subscribers which they will probably do later on. They did that with Potbs too. This is just a scam for fileplanet to make money and funcom doesn't care cause they get someone to manage their beta for them. If you don't like it then don't participate. If they don't get 50k suckers to buy into this then they will just give out the keys for nothing.

Funcom doesn't have to give a guarantee that you will get in. Fileplanet is hosting it, and they should be the ones you bug about it. Especially considering you are handing over your money to Fileplanet and not Funcom... not yet anyway.
By the way, I know quite a lot of people, including myself, who have been subbed to Fileplanet for years and years. This and any other beta test had nothing to do with it... they didn't even do this sort of thing back when I joined. I will say, however, they provide me with the fastest game downloads I've ever had and, between my husband and myself, we download a lot of games and patches.

And guys at least they're having an open beta so we don't just have to take a chance on buying it. I guess I'm not crying about it because this is how it went with wow's beta and it was a decent game so I'm not finding it a problem funcom's using the same model. Oh this just in: They recommend Comrade for getting your key notice quicker BUT it gather's all your gaming file information and sends it to FP for marketing purposes.
