The next great MMORPG will have the following:

    The Lore of Warhammer/Warcraft
The Movement system of world of warcraft/fps games (eg Responsive not heavy)
the graphics of Guild wars with bigger/better environments
The game should not be sides, everybody should be able to clan/friend everybody else.  And everybody should be able to KILL anybody else too.
The polish level should be of NCsoft quality.
The support system should be better then NCsoft and Blizzard combined.
When one game mixes all of these together,  and presents them in a manner of guildwars/world of warcraft,  we will have an MMORPG that i would pay $30/month to play.

Untill that day we will be stepping slowly towards teh ultimate MMORPG.
You almost described AoC! Lore dates all the way from 30's, graphics are better then in any current MMO and has both bigger and better environment. Level of polish won't be that great but in time... Im not sure what you mean by movement system, but seeing as you mentioned WoW I can most certainly say it will be better. :P

I really anticipate GW 2 basically , but since that's not gonna be out any time soon , my vote goes to Aion it looks and feels so cool, and original ideas too. And also I love the Final Fantasy setting it seems to be running with . So yes , Aion.

Yeah, GW2 wont be out in the next 2 years prolly and we cant talk about that allready.

Now that its almost the release of AoC i dont think either it can become the great game we all expect, but it will have some popularity for the first months like all new games have.

I think Aion is probably gonna be the next great mmo.  One of the reasons I am saying that now is that its starting to get more attention by players outside the mmosite community.  I think there was a poll like this last year and Aion got alot of whats Aion? and like a 5% agree.  Another reason is that there is actual substance to the claims NCSoft has been making.  They haven't been going about making empty promises.  They always show thats its in game before saying its there.  Such as Flying, its unique character growth system, the large amount of PVE content, and its faction war system.  Also its beautiful graphics and well made animations which are typically good in Korean MMOs.  Also I think people are slowly learning that the old Korean Grind just isn't possible when the only way to level up is by completing certain content.

Age of Conan I don't think will be great even though its been hyped up so much and has probably the largest popularity at the moment.  As we know if you can't deliver on the hype its gonna be a let down, and Funcom really didn't let up on the hype.  If we look back at the other Funcom releases can we really expect this company to deliver on Age of Conan?  Anarchy Online is a fine game now, but on release...  Also it seems to suffer ailements that the community is beginning to be sick of, and that typically have done poorly in the past.  Like boasting about using cutting edge technology but needing a cutting edge machine.  Its use of end-game raiding unless you are HARDCORE PVP.  Also boasting about graphics, but the graphics ending up like muddied undetailed crap (EQ2-Vanguard)

AoC needs a good pc, many people need and upgrade and thats a disadvantage for sure.

If warhammer will have even bigger requirements it will be very difficult for many players.....

I do believe WAR and AOC will rock. They get alot of subscribers and active players.

Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR.
    Playing EVE Online and AOC.
    Wtg for SW:TOR and WOD

I voted AoC,I would have liked to have voted TCoS but I see it falling away somewhat,Last year and the start of this year TCoS was the 1 for me but after some bad excuses and more delay's I will wait and see also for it to be the next big thing it has missed it's window in my opinion and also niether the devs or publisher's want to get the word out about it.

AoC seem's to have what I am looking for and I think alot of player's feel the same so that alone will hold it in good stead,at least for the release then it must deliever.

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

    AoC, without a doubt.

People in general are sorely underestimating the sheer awesomeness of this game.

Of all the nonsense and crap I read on this board this is a fresh dose of reality.

I agree with this post except I believe it could have different lore so long as it's deep enough to make people actually want to read about it.

I'm talking lore that's so good it would stand by itself without a game to back it up.

come on,all he has asked for is "hey give me warcraft with better graphic's".

How is that moving the MMo genre forward?

Maybe that is what you want going by your gamming on your sig but it doesnt make it so(refering to your quote) "of all the nonsense and crap I read on this board this is a fresh dose of reality"

Some of us would like a sandbox title or indeed a game that doesnt just lead us by the hand,we are on different tracks you seem to want a game that is easy to pick up and play with graphic's to die for,I on the other hand want a challenge and freedom to do what I like and if it can nice graphic's.

I wont get what I want for sometime so will go with what is out there for now and hope for the best.

rather biased/preference to a particular perspective and prejudiced/prejudgement poll.
One should always include Other and None of the above options, so you get accurate representation of the acceptance of your choices (and possibly make you aware you may be missing something!)
like some might see Spore as the direction mmo are/should go rather than the current fantasy-grind games.

I think the idea of stargates will translate very well to game design and might help make Stargate Worlds a little bit more than more of the same type of MMO.  So I voted that.

However I think the next Great MMORPG's will be the ones from Bioware and 38 Studios

Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
if I were to kill a titan tomorrow and no CCP employees showed up to say grats I would petition it.
Waiting for: the next MMO that lets me make this macro
    if hp < 30 then CastSpell("heal") SpellTargetUnit("player") else CastSpell("smite") end

Yes, indeed. If people started making some research more they would find out about Aion and wouldnt just think its another asian game.

Most asian games never see the light in US or EU, but Aion will release at same time everywhere and it is very promising. NCsoft shows new features of this game everyday and as i said be4 it really needs more publishing and a new high quality site so that Aion will be well known to all people as AoC and Warhammer did.

What made me kinda impression reading all these posts and wathcing the poll is that Wow:WotLK has so few votes.

I really knew that AoC will get many votes cause its almost its release and same as warhammer cause it had a lot of advertising and it will release in some months, and even Aion cause it has shown us some awesome things.

But i really thought that Wow:WotLK would be a lot higher in the list with a 18-23 % and not a 4-5%.

Maybe a lot of Wow players are really frustrated and bored from the game and are looking for the next game they will play. I had seen some articles that Wow is losing a lot of subscribers the past months and think this poll confirms it a bit. Or is it just too soon and people dont vote just for it yet?

I didnt really expect Wow:WotLK to get so few votes.

Ithought it would be for sure in the top 2 of the poll.

Maybe wow fans are really frustrated and bored with the game.

Ever immersed yourself in some of BioWare's lore?!!? I think their game will be the next big MMO! I think its gonna take a new comer, like blizzard was, to beat blizzard. The established companies are no longer looking to innovate, they are just looking for $$$$.

I somehow doubt darkfall will be realesed soon (although I sincerly hope I am wrong) but I still voted for it.  Open ended pvp games ftw. All the other (consentual pvp) games are just clones of other games yet presented in a different fashion I m o.  Otherwise il just stick to Eve its kept me 2 years and I still see another couple years of fun :)

I just hope that AoC will fullfill all gamers expectetions, cause based on this poll a lot of players are will play AoC and they are putting their hopes on it as a good game.

Features and graphics seem awesome on Aoc, and in generally it is a good game as it seems.

Lets hope they wont disappoint us with AoC.

    Time will tell.

Now we have seen a lot about AoC i think Warhammer will get about the same subscribers as AoC will have and if  WotLK  will be like  TBC, i believe Aion will be the next GREAT MMORPG, getting a lot WoW players and AoC and Warhammer wont get more than 1 million subscribers.
