So now that AoC is flopping...

Any objective person with two brain cells and not blinded by fanboism can tell when a game is not ready for release, and AoC has all of the symptons.

Who's glad WAR was delayed? I sure as hell am.

Well I think Funcom could save AoC if they'd come clean, and postpone the release until 4Q-08.   The game definately has potential...but to release now is going to hurt them.

I'm reading the same as you are about AoC.  Off to a rocky start and they need to get on the ball if they are going to live up to its hype.  I'm bummed that WAR was delayed, but  it is what it is.  I guess I have more time to beef up the PC.  I'm glad Mythic is sticking to DAoC RvR foundation, it's going to be a blast.  Folks, I suck at PvP compared to most and I have a blast in DAoC RvR...good little rush.

WAR will speak for itself when it's released, no need to saturate the forums with WoW or AoC bashing.  Every MMO has something to bring to the table.  AoC will attract its own playerbase and WAR will have its.  AoC is a beautiful game with an interesting combat system, we have to admit.  But, I imagine there are cost.  Besides, if graphics was my main attraction I can think plenty single players games with excellent graphics.  I want fun more than anything, I want WAR.

    Cheers

I am no fanboi but man you had to mention WAR no your opinion doesnt weight at all because from the two sentences that you typed you are clearly a WAR fanboi lol.

Whats funny is that you make fun of fanbois but yet you sound like someone who could possibly have 2 brain cells left lawl.

Read my old posts dating from 1 to 2 months if you want, if anything, I was an AoC fanboi. I however am an objective person, I know when something is off and I'm not afraid to say it.

I'm not saying WAR is good, all I'm saying is that they made a good call delaying the game if they thought it wasn't ready yet. AoC should have done the same but they didn't, most general beta testers knew the game wasn't ready.

    Well done EA.

You know, i was actually thinking about making a thread on this very subject myself after i read the responses to "AoC's so called open beta via file planet" thread.

All I can say is, I am soooooo glad WAR devs are taking their time to polish thier game. This will payoff in the end.

Yeah, glad they're polishing up World of Warcraft 2.

I think alot of you that are upset with Age of Conan need to just calm down...you only got 13 levels of play..and a hint at the pvp...thats hardly enough to make a good judgement on.  If your questioning whether to buy it wait the first month out and see what those who played the first 30 days of the game have to say.

I'm hoping that AoC does well for those of you that were looking for something more guild vs guild / hardcore.    They just seem to be screwing the pooch with open beta.

what all your problems are is that ever since Blizzard released a well poslished game you expect every single game company to do so, what about when EQ was released? people still played it, same with AO, UO, Shadowbane SWG, hell the list goes on and on with every MMO that was released besides WoW, cause we all know how that release went

the point of this post is you all expect to much from these developers and when somethigns delayed you cry about it, how about growing the hell up and stop being a little kid for once in you life and let the people make thier games, if it sucks OH WELL people will still play it buy it pay monthly what ever, what are you complaining about? that fact that you arent getting the money? be glad you even got to test the beta... which i doubt you did

WoW 2? dont think so. Warhammer is an original game in the 1st place, the fact they are making a mmo of it is great and Mythic rocked pvp on DAoC! They arnt about to forget about it. The badassness of DAoC RvR blows wow pvp away any day, the game just got old and people wanted to try something new. Im glad they are making WAR just as sweet in the pvp aspect. Dont get me wrong, WoW is a good game.. but the PvP kinda sucks. And im not just a "mythic fanboy". I have been playing mmo's since the text based MUD's. Have played all of the popular mmo's and many small timers. All have good and bad aspects and I just feel WAR is going to be the best all around game.. for a while anyways. As always something new and better is bound to come out.. but untill then im hyped for WAR.

OP is right, now that AoC is screwed, WAR is my only hope for a fun MMO this year. AoC failure is going to be epic and may knock Vanguard of its perch of doom.

Don't let us down Mythic! you're our only hope :)

I'm no fanboi, hell I haven't even preordered it, but to say AoC is screwed is childish and just flat out stupid.

There's plenty of room in the market for two successfull post-WoW MMORPGs.  No need to play stupid and try and force more into WAR's camp.

I'm not trying to force anyone anywhere, I played the AoC open beta and if that's anything like what they plan on releasing they...are...screwed! and that's a fact.

Only an idiot would think AoC is going to be successfull with the performance they have right now - open beta or not - they have released this to the public and that is how it will be judged until they go retail and in the meantime they will lose potential customers because AoC at the moment is crap.

Given that vanilla WoW more like EQ2 than EQ2 was, this can only mean you think WAR will be a runaway success!

    Yeah me too.

And being a World of Warcraft 2  fan im glad to see Guild Wars 3 have an awesome beta flop.

  • IllyrianIllyrian Member Posts: 300

Flopping might be a bit too strongly worded.

That being said they are not doing well and instead of great first impression AoC is failling back onto the old excuses - wait a (or 3, 6, 9, 269) month(s) for the game to get better, no MMO is ever finished, all the negative comments are made by haters / idiots / people that lack taste etc.

All in all if it was a race with two horses I would bet my money on WAR. If for no other reason then for the extra polish time.

Congrats on making it to Level 13 in AoC(if you even made it that far) because we all know that in WoW the first 13 levels are amazingly exciting every step of the way. Christ you can't even get into the first instance at level 13 in WoW.

You're judging a game when you have 67 more levels to go before completing the available content, VERY short sighted.

I wonder what people want from the first 13 levels in a game? Sorry you can't become a super human PvP/PvE God in the first few levels....

Just another product of the kiddie gamer mentallity that so many people subscribe to nowadays aka 'Give me uber crap now!' atleast once a day or I'll quit!!!11

    Thanks WoW.

I don't get why people seem to think that WoW invented online gaming... the whole Starcraft & Warcraft world were heavily influenced by the older and more mature Warhammer & Warhammer 40k. The way they build their MMORPG is influenced by Ultima & Everquest. Ok, they just made it to combine a bunch of good concepts, but thats it!

Clearly any game from now on with an Orc,Elf or Dwarf in it is an obvious copy of World of Warcraft.

I don't understand why everyone doesn't want the games being released to succeed.  I am very much hoping for the success and prosperity of both AoC and WAR so that the MMO market has more choices, options, and variety.  AoC is still in beta and you titled your post the way you did...  It is off to a rocky start but you are the perfect example of 'the grass is greener on the other side'.  If WAR has a rocky OB are you going to go post on the next game forum you find with something similar?

I do support all games polishing as long as necessary and I hope that Funcom can pull off a decent launch and AoC can be successful as I wish the same things of WAR.
