actually thats pretty disappointing to me i was really looking forward to that feature. so what about the dwarf's beards weren't they suppose to grow in length or something is that still in?
wow over reaction ... they believe they can do it and their teams what to do the aging process however would you rather be able to tell the age of your character from looks or crap gameplay ...
i was bummed too when i heard about it but come on its a system that no one really needs...just wants

Growth in general isn't in. Guess it got cut out to claim the rest was "Done and only needs polish"
It's a big deal. Orcs grow as they become stronger. The bigger they are, the more respected they are. By removing it, you are changing a fundamental part of who they are. It's like making them blue or passive.

gah thats sad it was such a awesome sounding feature. well i hope they're done announcing things that won't make the cut lol.
No if they turned them blue and called them Smurfs then you would be right to complain. Saying they wont be growing bigger is just saying sorry but at this time this bit of fluff feature has been put on the backburner. As they stated in their webcast the problem with orcs growing biggerand dwarves beards growing longer is that they would also need to put in the ability NOT to have these features for people who didnt want their dwarves beard to reach his ankles and the person who liked how big his orc was. They would also need to incorporate a similar aspect for all the other races hmm what would that mean for elves their ears growing longer ? I suspect this feature may be added at a later stage but in order to have the game ready for the new release date. I suspect they dont want t implement brand new fluff features that will incorporate a awful lot of work.
It's pretty much what I expect from MMOs these days. Grand promises of all the things that will make their game stand out from the pack... later canceled and the game releases as another carbon copy of everything already on the store shelves. I know it's just one feature, but it's typical of the entire bait and switch, create-a-clone MMO design style that every company is following these days. damn shame.
I recently heard that the ability for Orcs to grow as they level would not be in at launch. What do you guys know about this?
This was announced awhile back that this feature would not make it into launch. I agree it was a neat feature, but their reasoning for removing it is sound and logical. This is one of the few things they have changed their direction on, and so far they have been very open about what will/not be in the game and their reasoning behind it. Plus its their game and they have always stated that nothing is final until launch.
Cheers!
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S
Its a cool lil extra feature...but honestly is it really worth whining over? Its not like they're taking out something important like Keeps & Sieges. Cheese anyone?
Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!
It's more about devs promising features and then not delivering. Heck, I'm still waiting for the dam hero classes in WoW.
Try and prioritize a bit...if something doesn't work do you really want to leave it in the game? If its such a minor feature is it worth breaking the game & pissing off customers by leaving it in because a few people think that every single thing has to go in that was ever promised...you know you guys are the same ones that wine over dumb crap that breaks games but if they left it out you'd whine even more...seriously...its not worth the hub bub.
No project keeps every single thing that was a part of their original design..every game especially MMOs eventually have to cut the fat in order to make things work.

yeah, Im a reporter and Id like to know this one....
I mean... theres NO info on this since orks have NOT been in ANY phase of beta2 if you read the notes all the betas have been chaos darkelves and darkelves+chaos since last fall....
oh and last fall, the Light tank "choppa" grew in size as it gained power and started to bnuild waaagghh!! as seen in the video I took.
Was a neat feature and im dissipointed, but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't impact the gameplay in any way - its more for coolness factor and maybe some kind of bragging rights. 'My orcs bigger than your orc' heh.
Even if its not in, its no reason it wont show up later.
I'm just thankful they were honest about it not making it in, rather than hide it and wait until release for people to find out.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence. Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.
i will always be the first to say that gameplay and polish are more important than graphics and "flare" features like this...but...
for me personally, this was a "flare" feature that really attracted me to the game. I am big on immersion and this was just going to be somethin really fun and showed that the devs are just on their game.
That being said, i am still lookin foward to the game as there are still many other features that excite me, and hopefully this is not making it in simply because other features that directly effect gameplay still require attention.
Never remember them saying anywhere that the feature would be in at release, just that it was one of the many cool features they were working on. I too would like to know where this info came from though.
I thought it was a really cool feature, but It being put aside in no way diminishes my excitement for the game. The War dev staff have been very open and shown great personal enthusiasm and passion for the game, and I have no doubt that they will deliver a great game.
would not make sense to me if the black orc grew anyway they are supposed to be bigger and stronger then any of the other orcs already. Unlees thats changed I have not played the table top in a while. I know they used to have black skin but now they are dark green.
as long as the game is good I will be happy with or without the orcs growing.
I can feel your anger. This game is defenseless. Take your weapon. Strike this game down with all of your hatred, and your journey towards towards the Dark Side will be complete.

This is why they are loath to give out any information about games. They want to do something, mention it and when it doesn't come about people have a conniption. I'd rather know what they are going to try and get in the game personally but I could see why they'd rather just not tell anyone anything.

just my 2 cents
Gadareth
they already said they CAN do it and they have ideas for the other races but i mean its not like this changes the entire gameplay
yeah i wanted it..but it is just a want (and who knows might see it in a content up-date or an expansion)

As long as the game is fun then I don't really care if such things are in the game or not.
Geez, that sucks. I was really looking forward to that.
Where did you guys find this info?
