I get hooked on a game because of many attributes; graphics, stability (against hackers, exploiters, bots, etc), user interface, content, and the COMMUNITY.

My wife logged on Matrixonline and was shocked to see 99% of the first 8 pages of people recruiting other people in their clans, people bashing other clans, people bashing those who are bashing the clans, and people logging onto clan websites then bashing them from there.

3 months ago when my wife and I visited these forums (desert of the real forums) they were nothing like that.

I just hope the player in the game (when it comes out) wont be as immature as 99% of those currently posting on the official forums...

......and even though my wife and I are die hard Matrix fans and mmorpg players...we sorta have a feeling that the game is gonna suck image  I do hope we're wrong!

Seeing as how the movies sucked, except the first one, I dont see how this game can suceed.  I dont think the funky sci fi/martial arts crossover has any kind of draw to it aside from cyberpunks.

Judging by how well the movies did in the box office, I would say that these movies didn't "suck" for everyone.  I for one absolutely LOVED the movies and will be watching the development of TMO and hopefully get into beta for it.

I hope they do the game justice and not let the majority down like SOE did with SWG.

I'm liking what I've been reading from the various E3 peaks that have been written up on various websites (see http://www.mmorpgdot.com/index.php for the various links, for some reason MMORPG.com hasn't done a good job of keeping up with the E3 news).

The only thing i have to say for the forums is: What else do they have to do?

Im sure they have talked wished bashed and analyzed the game to death, and still have months b4 it comes out. Same with WoW, once the games luster wears off and you realize you have another year to wait for it, then you start to lose focus a bit.....

As for the game, i just think the timing is bad, just like was said for MeO if they dont hit the deadline of the movies popularity then it will possibly and most likely fail.

This game WILL succeed because it is backed by a stable bankroll, and the technological innovations the game is making will attract many disillusioned MMO-enthusiasts.

-Fully explorable world.  Something for which people have been waiting a long time.

"I can walk through every room and every floor of that skyscraper in front of me?  Are you kidding!?!?!  How could I say no?"

-Very fresh and highly visually pleasing combat system.

Using a lot of smoke and mirrors the combat in TMO will run so smooth and fast you will think it was choreographed whereas it is actually computed as normal in the background.

Also worth mentioning is the randomness and combinations the combat will offer when different styles of martial arts are put up against different styles.  Combos, blocks, dodges, hits.  Due to the size of the attack library for each style, you may never really see all of the moves possible depending on which styles go up against which styles.

All of that leads to an incredible plus for the nature of combat in relation to PvP, which will in fact be a core feature of the gameplay.

    -Interacting missions.

Another feature that has long since been awaited for MMOs.  Taking a mission for one faction might have you going up against someone else to took a slightly different mission for another faction.  In this way the combat interaction and PvP of opposing players will have CONTEXT within the Matrix universe and the story.  Imagine taking a mission to defend an item or property while somewhere else in the world another team, or player has just taken a mission to aquire to gain control of that exact thing.

Though I have to admit, I am going to have to witness the above feature first-hand to see if they actually got it to work properly.  And if so...I am going to need a bib for my birthday.

    There are other mentionable features, but I think I have typed enough.  Tie-ins with the license...the fact that TMO will be the official legitimate continuation of the Matrix story overseen by the brothers...etc;

Stable bank roll means nothing, if people dont play it because it suck the game will not exist.

A stable bankroll means that the game will stay around for a long time even if no one pays attention to it.

    Crabby is right

look at SWG.  That game sucks harder than an Albina Russian Whore but its still alive.  Why?  Because of their bankroll....

Plus, I do not want to bash this game to have fun in bashing something....I just hope the game will succeed.

I am not siding one way or the other on this because honestly the title doesn't appeal to me. But I just wanted to point out one thing, bankroll don't make the game. AC 2 had about as solid a bankroll as a game can get. I can't think of any company that can throw more aid and money at a game then Microsoft. Now granted the lines of "success" can get pretty liberal but I don't think under most person's value system AC 2 could really be called a success. "afloat" comes to mind more.

we all agree... thier forums stink...

If the game has money going for it, it will stay afloat... honestly... AC2 never seemed to be a high priority at MS...

I will probably try this game for a bit... I mean... what's the worst that could happen?

I don't know if there'll be much 'matrix' Roleplaying going on, though...

I wasn't referring to just "staying afloat". To me a successful game is abit more then one that can scrape along and stay online instead of being shut down. And my point still stands in that context. And AC 2 was under heavy priority with MS on Turbine.

I do think cult following will keep it afloat however if nothing else, I just don't see it breaking any records anytime soon. Its a great movie concept to me, I don't see it for much of an MMORPG. But maybe thats just because I have no feelings for it at all.

Well lets just ammed that slightly shall we?

_You_ thought SWG sucked (for whatever reason), and I bet that there are people that think that games you like suck - everyone has an opinion and they frequently vary - just because you didnt like SWG don't assume that there arent enough subscribers to keep it running and its only surviving off the back of SOE coffers...

Personally I think that this game will suffer from the same problem that SWG did - players expectations!

Players felt 'let down' by SWG because it didnt meet their expectations (whether those expectations were too high and how they got so high is a different subject) and I believe that no small portion of the problem was that players weernt the heros from the films, they were just 'joe public'

Now while I suspect this game will allow players to bend the laws of the universe as happened in the films people are going to have to deal with the fact that their characters will not be Neo Trinity etc and this may result in many cries of 'THIS GAME SUCKS' once its released

Stable bank roll means everything, having alot of money and still bringing in money means that they can spend it on things that are not really needed, like MxO, i never thought they would make a mmorpg, i love the matrix movies and i know im gonna try this game.....its run on new server types witch bring in no lag, no need for loading when entering buildings, crazy marital arts, i dunno what to say.......also haha AC2 didnt have a good bankroll IMO it was ok but nothing compared to what MxO will have or EQ2.

Well the first and original Matrix movie was simply put....Awesome 1 of my all time favorite movies. As for the sequels, yeah they sucked pretty badly.

The game gets his name from the officialest official sources. WB and the Wachowskis. So, how can you even think bad about it? My vision is a large community and a lot of fun with my clan!!!

im simply amazed how easily people can say a game is going to fail before its even in open beta... jaded players most likely... oh well.  time will tell as it does with all things.
