so I got the beta key, got the link to download the game.
Before I went to bed yesterday I was nr 1121 in queue to download.
Woke up after like 7 hours, figured out I was wrong about my queue spot, it was actually hours to go before I can download, and after 7,5 hours in queue I still have to wait 1221 hours !!!!
Somehow I think this is fucked up.
Think I just have to wait untill the 16th

Yea I was so happy I got a key yesterday, made an account and started to download after 2 hours wait. Today I wake up just to find out that Iam again in waiting line, WTF ? Now I was in line 1867 or something, yea right its impossible to download atm. Its pretty pointless to give out open beta keys but then dont give the testers a good source of downloading.
Hell I wouldnt even care if I had to download 2 days but man like things are going it would be like 3 weeks 24/7 downloading ....
It is rather simple to fix, just get a one month subscription to fileplanet to access the high speed servers and there is NO wait. It is only 6.95 for one month.
Heck, I have been a founder member of fileplanet for 6 years and it is well worth it. I have gotten into dozens of betas and the demos and other perks are well worth it.

downloaded this in 3-6 hours.. went sleep around 3.30 wake up 9.30 or so was done
there was one person with massive upload , but that was before free keys , and there was like 120 leachers now 880 on that torrent, but try ur luck

And besides you do know that sharing movies is unlegal and that the whole point of that site

Try going to bed with the file downloading and only needing a little over a gig to finish then getting up this morning and being 540/1340 in line with the same gig to download.

It is spelled illegal not unlegal. No where in his post did he mention that he was downloading movies, you made that assumption.

Well thats what you get if you download Warez...of course if you download legit stuff like AoC client you should have no problems. I wonder what you where doing downloading warez as you seem to be quite against it?
yeah I was downloading last night also to wake up and see that im 553/1315 in line.
I got through all right, but i left the download all night. 5 hours by the way. It only went up 1%. 1% that is fricking insane, it will take me 3 fricking years just to download this thing.
To me this looks like just another attempt to lure people to buy a 6$ ticket. Offering free keys, but holding them on wait for ~5days after. Why giving away keys in first place if they're not willing to spend some bandwith accordingly?
This is just another beyond pathetic action with an all so clear intension. Guess they havent made enough $ on the gamers who bought themself into the first OB on may 1st.
If FC wants anyone to use one of these keys, they should better get their f***n act together for only one time. This way, they shall not wonder if their servers stay at <20% workload for their stress test.
I can't get how Funcom can send potential customers and fans through this nightmare the whole FP-OB turned into. From a PR-perspective, this is a desaster and in alot of companies heads would roll for this act.
Waiting for the next "we're sorry..we should have...we've learned alot from this.." statement.
i downloaded mine client from link i gave, it works and there is no keylogers or anything like that
not to mention there is more and more gaming companies who use torrents..
i wont even mention countless who includes torrent list in patch mirrors.. wow is torrent only, apart third part sites
That torrent should work. I'm not at all torrent savvy, but that was one of the trackers in the torrent I was getting last night for this. Though I got the link off of the offical forums from a poster there (which they said the MD5 matched the official copy).
I was getting good speed on the down load (and letting people get it from me too) last night all the while I was still waiting in line at fileplanet...
Well ill reply the same i did in the other post. I paid the $6 for a month membership, got a beta key and downloaded the whole file at 1.30 mbs in 3 1/2 hours.
$6 well spent to avoid aggrivation.
I paid nothing, got a key and will have it in about 16 hours, no aggravation here and I'm not out $6.00 to a company I really didn't want to support
Ya it is a rather simple fix, it involves me driving to Fileplanet HQ and putting a foot up someone's ass. Seriously though it's another scam to get people to pony up which in my book is lower than dirt. You don't say something is free and when you give it you give it half assed so they will subscribe from frustration.
I like many others was having the same problem on the last gig for the download after already dling at an enormous slow rate of 250-300kbs when my connection provides well over 1mbs but I assumed this since it is after all fileplanet and I know they have restrictions to speed if you use the public servers. That just tears it exactly the last gig the connection to the server reset and all of a sudden I'm last in line and the counter shoots up to a 402 minute waiting, I rubbed my eyes to make sure I seen it right. After screaming many obscenities I went to bed thinking it would be fine just a fluke w/e, woke up and still in line after 8hrs and maybe blasted past 2/3 of the waiters. Horseshit.
After this I'll never use fileplanet again, no I will not pay for beta no I will not pay for their bullshit services. There is plenty of other legit gaming sites out there that offer true free downloading and support games much better than the asshats at fileplanet do. /rant off
The problem is that alot of ISPs disconnect you after being connected for 24hrs. So you are waiting several hours in the line, then according to the slow speed the download takes ages again. As of now, this process may add up to 24+ hours...so you may happen to get disconnected in the middle of your download and find yourself back in the queue again after reconnect to again wait 5,6, 7+ hours in line.
Image this going on over a period of 2-3 days, according to the slow speed and long queue we've got to deal with here.
Now it's not Fileplanet's problem that ISPs disconnect after 24h, but it's in Funcom's interest that finally some of the folks who got their free keys get their download finished and stress the servers.
Never ever had I had my ISP disconnect my connections, I can't say it's not true for other providers but I know for a fact it's on fileplanet's side. It wasn't even 6-8hrs before it reset, it's defiantly their little scam.
I finally started downloading later last night. woke up this morning, and looks like i had downloaded about 1gig, but I was back in line again!!! I dont think there was a network hickup, but whatever. I really think its a way to get you to subscribe. mabey i shouldve started my torrent at the same time. Thats what i get for putting a little faith into fileplanet...
Same answer as the last download fiasco.....FP wants your money..or you get what you get.
I know I've said this before, but there's a lot more people trying to download this gigantic thingy so I'll just repeat myself on the risk of being flamed.
If you are subscribed to Comcast, you get a free sub to Fileplanet/Founder's Club which gives you access to the fast servers and everything else. Comcast doesn't seem to advertise this anymore... I think they started it in 2006... but it still seems to work. A couple people I know did it and it linked them to a dead place after they registered it, but when they went to FP they had a paid sub.

Why the hell would I subscribe to a shitty ISP just for a fileplanet membership? I'll take more speed for my money thank you.
I wasn't telling you to subscribe to a shitty ISP, I was letting people know that in case they have Comcast. Maybe you should lay off the hash, old son, it's making you cranky. We have Comcast internet because, at the moment, that's what my husband's work pays for, although we subscribe to more than one ISP.
There, I added a "d" to "subscribe" in my initial post to clear that up for you simple mind, even though I think you were just trying to be nasty for some unknown reason.
I'll admit I'm pissy this morning from fileplanet pulling a fast one on me, but I did take the post the wrong way then it seemed as if you were saying if you subscribed to comcast you could get the fileplanet private servers for free. I guess it just needs a tad bit tweaking on the wording, I apologize.
Free is free if you get free net I don't see a problem with it but I feel sorry for the ones that have to stick with Comcast that are paying themselves, very poor service.
At first I was wondering why I stopped using Fileplanet several years ago. After 24 hours of "downloading" the AoC beta and only having less than 2 gigs so far, I now completely remember: Fileplanet just blows. It always has about as far back as I can recall, and it likely always will.
Some people say that subscribing will fix everything, but after having this horrible of an experience using Fileplanet why in hell would I want to then give them my money?
Why can't Filefront get any loving from major game developers? Oh yeah, I forgot. Fileplanet is run by Gamespy and IGN who will practically say your game is better than sex if you let them get an exclusive review or host your beta downloads. Silly me.
